We are both Dorset born and bred! We love to travel, but believe that we are blessed to live in such a beautiful county and like to spend as much time in this part of Dorset as we can.

It is really Important to us that our Guests have a wonderful stay. We have worked really hard to create a stylish, comfortable and well equipped cottage ... one that you will come back to!

This is also our second home, so you will find that Corner Cottage is a little bit nicer and more loved than many ordinary holiday lets!

We would like you to think of this as your holiday home and come back as often as you can too!

When we first stepped into this cottage, it was love at first sight!

Although the cottage had not been touched for around 37 years and looked very sad for herself, we knew we had to help her blossom again.

We spent several months renovating Corner Cottage, and filling her with lovely and useful things to make your visit really special.

We have stayed in lots of places which look lovely on the Internet only to be a little disappointed when we arrived, and we wanted to make sure that you will love this cottage from the moment you step into Pump Yard.

Corner Cottage will provide you with a beautiful, well equipped and slightly quirky cottage set in the most beautiful area or Dorset.

Welcome to the start of your wonderful holiday!

But be careful ... If you stay once, you will be coming back!

What makes this cottage unique

Set back from St James Street (which itself is a quaint little road) in the historic Pump Yard, you will be staying in one of the most photographed places in Shaftesbury.

Open the gate and step through into history, past the old water pump which used to supply Shaftesbury with its water, and up the path to the white cottage in the corner.

Unlock the door and ....relax!

By arrangement we can offer you a fantastic PHOTOGRAPHER who can show you the beauty of Dorset and help you get some beautiful shots to take home. This must be booked in advance, direct with the photographer. Please let me know at the time of booking.

Balloon rides, National Trust and English Heritage properties, wonderful walks, market town, sight-seeing, pretty villages ..... just so much to do and see around this area!

Only around 45 minutes from the beach and the New Forest too!

We provide BABY & PRE SCHOOLER equipment : Graco Travel Cot, Tripp Trapp High Chair, Mamas & Papas Bumbo Seat, Potty, Sterilising Kit, Hand Held Blender, Changing Mat, door guard, plastic bowls and toddler cutlery, children's DVDs and some baby and toddler toys. Outside: In front of the cottage is the beautiful Pump Yard which is private for just a few houses. The cottage also has its own private garden with a summerhouse and a table and chairs. Utility Room: Washer/Dryer, Iron and Ironing Board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Bed linen and bath towels included. Clean linen at the beginning of each visit. Cleaned after each Guest. Additional cleaning may be available at an additional cost.

We enjoyed our time at Corner Cottage. The facilities are good and the beds comfortable.

Corner Cottage is a quiet and comfortable place to stay. We enjoyed the setting and appreciated being only 10 minutes from the town centre (although the walk is up a steep hill which ever way you go!). The facilities in the cottage are good, the kitchen well equipped and the beds very comfortable.

We couldn't quite work out the heating but as the weather was good during our stay this was not a problem.

Charming Beyond Measure!

This beautifully remodeled cottage maintains an historic feeling while possessing all the modern conveniences. We were able to cook breakfast and dinner here each night with ease, and enjoyed the town of Shaftesbury immensely for other meals and entertainment. There was plenty of room for the three of us to have time together or a little space of our own. We are all small women, though (5'3" tall), and could touch the ceiling just by reaching up! We all agreed that our husbands would not have been as comfortable as we were with the low doorways and ceilings. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom beautifully done. There were 2 TVs in the house, but we didn't use either. There's too much fun to be had sitting at the top of Gold Hill each night to even think about TV! The courtyard itself is quiet and sweet.

Overall:

*good communication with the owner up until the end of our stay (we asked for directions about dealing with trash, but did not get a reply)

*sweet cottage; very comfortable for smaller people

*Shaftesbury is a delightful village! We enjoyed sitting at the top of Gold Hill (a very short walk from the cottage) and watching the light change at the end of the day. There is a pub at the bottom of the hill called the Two Brewers which provides a lively atmosphere and live music (when we were there; not sure about other times). The pub at the top of the hill, The Mitre, is full of locals and looks out over the valley. The overlook, a long stretch at the top of the hill, is a peaceful place to stroll and sit, watching the sheep in the valley's fields. A grocery store is a short walk from town. If the Gold Hill incline is too much for you, you can get to the overlook through the park near the cottage. Follow the paved path up through the switchbacks, and you'll find yourself at the overlook.

*If you go in late June/early July, look up The Fringe, a performing arts festival that was in town while we were there. We really enjoyed the performers!

*We were there for the town festival and so glad too! Lots of music, performers, food, and crafts.

*Close to Stonehenge and Bath

*Check out the small town of Lacock and its Abbey. It's really beautiful (and a treat for Harry Potter fans!).

Lots of character with modern touches

Full of character yet modern and well equipped inside. An ideal location for exploring the surrounding area - Stourhead, Stonehenge, Salisbury and more. the property was very clean and had lovely individual touches without being cluttered.
