We are both Dorset born and bred! We love to travel, but believe that we are blessed to live in such a beautiful county and like to spend as much time in this part of Dorset as we can.

It is really Important to us that our Guests have a wonderful stay. We have worked really hard to create a stylish, comfortable and well equipped cottage ... one that you will come back to!

This is also our second home, so you will find that Corner Cottage is a little bit nicer and more loved than many ordinary holiday lets!

We would like you to think of this as your holiday home and come back as often as you can too!

When we first stepped into this cottage, it was love at first sight!

Although the cottage had not been touched for around 37 years and looked very sad for herself, we knew we had to help her blossom again.

We spent several months renovating Corner Cottage, and filling her with lovely and useful things to make your visit really special.

We have stayed in lots of places which look lovely on the Internet only to be a little disappointed when we arrived, and we wanted to make sure that you will love this cottage from the moment you step into Pump Yard.

Corner Cottage will provide you with a beautiful, well equipped and slightly quirky cottage set in the most beautiful area or Dorset.

What makes this cottage unique

Set back from St James Street (which itself is a quaint little road) in the historic Pump Yard, you will be staying in one of the most photographed places in Shaftesbury.

Open the gate and step through into history, past the old water pump which used to supply Shaftesbury with its water, and up the path to the white cottage in the corner.

We provide BABY & PRE SCHOOLER equipment : Graco Travel Cot, Tripp Trapp High Chair, Mamas & Papas Bumbo Seat, Potty, Sterilising Kit, Hand Held Blender, Changing Mat, door guard, plastic bowls and toddler cutlery, children's DVDs and some baby and toddler toys. Outside: In front of the cottage is the beautiful Pump Yard which is private for just a few houses. The cottage also has its own private garden with a summerhouse and a table and chairs. Utility Room: Washer/Dryer, Iron and Ironing Board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Bed linen and bath towels included. Clean linen at the beginning of each visit. Cleaned after each Guest. Additional cleaning may be available at an additional cost.

Lots of character with modern touches

Full of character yet modern and well equipped inside. An ideal location for exploring the surrounding area - Stourhead, Stonehenge, Salisbury and more. the property was very clean and had lovely individual touches without being cluttered. Wonderful location

We enjoyed our week in Shaftesbury. The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the town, walking to the pub, browsing shops and doing walks around the otuskirts of the town. We based ourselves there while doing walks on the coast and locally. There are so many great options for walks, super pubs in pretty villages for lunch and lots of good local food to be bought in town. The quaint Pump Yard is definitely pleasing to the eye every time you return.

The cottage has a nice kitchen, good shower, comfy beds and easy to use dvd/tv system. It's worth noting that the on street parking can be challenging depending on the time of day you are parking. The heating was also a puzzler but we were staying in September during a cold spell so more of an issue for us than if you were staying in the summer.

Just what we were looking for - cosy, peaceful and ideal for romantic getaway!

I just wanted to send a quick message to say thank you so much for such a lovely getaway in Corner Cottage this weekend. What an absolute little treasure the cottage is - so quiet and peaceful, exactly what we were looking for!

The cottage was immaculately clean, you had everything you possibly needed in the kitchen utensil wise! We were even welcomed with a bottle of bubbly in the fridge.

There is a Tesco superstore less than a 5 minute drive away - ideal for us as we cooked most of our meals in the cottage. We went out for one evening meal on our anniversary date - the Two Brewers pub 30 seconds down the road is just lovely for local food. All staff were friendly and welcoming to us.

The shops in Shaftesbury town are just what you'd expect from a small village - something different from the usual high street.

We could not recommend this cottage enough, thank you to Debbie for making our stay have that extra sparkle.

Cosy, well maintained cottage for four.

For two weeks we stayed in this cottage, situated in Shaftesbury's lovely Pump Yard which is accessible through a gate so there are no direct passers-by, which gave us the opportunity of using the yard as a front garden where we took afternoon coffee and pre-prandial cocktails (which the neighbours may have found a bit unsettling; one day when we came home the little iron table and chairs had been moved to the back garden). The living room has comfortable furniture, a huge TV and an open space where the hoover and the router have their domicile and where one can put away ones outer garments. We would suggest hanging a curtain in the door opening to give these unsightly items a little privacy. A mock woodburner provides additional heat and some cosy light, and, when heating, rather a lot of noise.The kitchen is well kitted-out with all the mod-cons and implements, although one more frying pan might come in handy (being seasoned cottage renters we had brought one). The dining area consists of a tiny table with two elegant little chairs and two further seats in the window sill so one could eat there with four people. The bathroom was very nice and modern, although the (concealed) washing-machine-tumble-dryer-in-one took some getting used to. The two bedrooms with comfortable double beds were large enough to accomodate four people and all the clothes one might need in a fortnight, with room to spare for new additions (the shops in Shaftesbury are quaintly old fashioned, but Salisbury and Bath especially more than make up for that). The garden is situated some twenty yards up a narrow and partly overgrown garden path behind the cottage which we didn't use (save for the garden furniture and the shed for the the roof box). For our Dutch sensitivities we thought the lighting in the living room and kitchen rather too much of a good thing, so we unscrewed a few bulbs in the kitchen and my wife had the bright idea of bringing down one of the lamps from our bedroom to the living room (she took it up again when we went to bed; a modern version of the Lady with the Lamp so to speak). The cottage was clean, although a former occupant's long blond hairs, a hair pin and elastic greeted us in the bedroom and living room. The Mitre and the Two Brewers are nice pubs with good food, a big Tesco, a good chippie; there are many places to see within an hour's drive (incl. the seaside, Bath, Wells, Stonehenge), London's a two-hour train journey away.
