Cottage in Selsey, Sussex, England - Beachfront Cottage With Tranquil Coastal Charm And Close To Chichester
Pirates Point is a newly furnished Grade II listed holiday cottage situated on the beachfront of Selsey in West Sussex. The 18th century cottage can be found down a secluded lane on the end of a row of terraced cottages that were originally built for the village coastguards. Ideal for families and couples looking for a seaside retreat, the cottage boasts unrivalled access to the beautiful beachfront and is only a short walk from the bustling village of Selsey. There is a small enclosed garden area with patio furniture and a furnished studio where you can enjoy your morning coffee and the spectacular vistas. Inside, the cottage has been cleverly designed to give you maximum space with a large kitchen area, cosy sitting room, two beautifully furnished bedrooms and a bathroom. There is also a WC and shower room outside for washing off the sea and sand after a day spent on the beach. A lovely base to explore the local area, Pirates Point is also perfect for those looking to sit back and unwind in the cosy sitting room or out on the sun-drenched patio. Pirates Point is the perfect spot for dog walkers and so we happily welcome all well behaved pets - they will enjoy the beautiful beaches and scenic walks almost as much as you! Pirates Point is ideally located to explore the local area and all it has to offer. Selsey itself is a picturesque seaside village with a large array of shops so there’s no need to stray far from the cottage. Nearby there are plenty of activities and attractions, with stunning seaside walks, a plethora of restaurants, retail destinations, Roman and Naval historical sights, delightful market towns and events at Goodwood.

Lovely Seaside Cottage Yards From The Beach

Beautifully presented cottage
Pirates Point is a lovely cottage in a very peaceful setting although I wish I had seen the previous review, but I had already booked. Although Pirates Point allows dogs, it is really not very dog friendly. The only access to the cottage is via the rear courtyard of the property, which is shared, and neither of the two separate garden areas are securely fenced. I would heartily recommend it to people without dogs, but unless your dog is ultra-well-behaved, it may not be for you.
Lovely Seaside Cottage Yards From The Beach
We were looking for a cottage close to a quiet beach for long dog walks and weren't disappointed! Pirates Point is literally a stone's throw from a lovely quiet pebbled beach, situated at the end of the listed former coastguards cottages. Right next to a farmer's field (which runs to the beach via a small 1-2m cliff, which also has a cliff-side path) the views are fantastic from the main bedroom or outside the studio, lovely and quiet, and still only a shortish walk to the shops. Inside the cottage was immaculate with a tasteful seaside theme, which we made full use of when the great British weather took a turn for the worse one day! Facilities were spot on (as long as you can use an Aga!), with mod cons (WiFi, TVs, washing machine, dishwasher etc). The outside toilet / shower and porch were great for sorting the dog out before getting in the house, however the backyard is shared so you can't really let them roam outside (but with the beach so close it didn't take long to let them out to do their business!). Selsey has three beaches to explore. The East Beach is where you will spot the lifeboat station. The shelved shingle beach, known to the locals as fisherman’s beach, is a great point from which to explore the beautiful Pagham Harbour Nature and Bird Reserve, which is an approx. 40 min walk East along the coastal path from Pirates Point. If you want to build sand castles head to The Bill, a few minutes walk from Pirates Point, or for swimming and fishing there’s the tidal West Beach.
