About the property

House in Coux Et Bigaroque, Siorac en Perigord, near Sarlat, Dordogne, France - Rural Location But Within 10 Minute Walk Of Local Village Which Has A Bar, Restaurant And 2 Shops.

This family home sits on the hillside overlooking the countryside and surrounding area, a short walk from the village of Le Coux. Each of the 4 bedrooms are of a good size, the main one having an en-suite. There is a family bathroom on the first floor and a fully equipped shower room on the ground floor.

There is a large, well equipped kitchen with large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a large shower room on the ground floor with a door that can be opened onto the side patio so that guests using the pool do not have to go through the house.

The house is child friendly and there is a good supply of board games and a dresser which is full of children's books, toys and games. We also have a high chair and cot if required. The 10 x 5 swimming pool is set slightly below the house and is fitted with an alarm which makes it exceptinally safe for young children.

The market towns of St Cyprien (Sunday market) and Le Bugue (Tuesday market) are 7 kms from the house. The nearest supermarket is in Siorac and this is approx 3 kms. Les Eyzies with its wonderful pre-historic museum is nearby as is Sarlat, one of the most popular towns in the Dordogne. Add to this the wonderful chateaux that are all close by this makes the house ideally placed to explore this wonderful part of the Dordogne. The village of Le Coux has a small "plage" with the river Dordogne running through which in high season is supervised. Canoeing is a very popular past-time and canoes can be hired from various points along the river.

In high season the villages and small towns organise Night Markets. Long tables are laid out in the village squares and local food and drink is sold from stalls around the outside. Simply take plates, cutlery and glasses, set them up on a table and then walk around the square, choosing from the excellent choice of delicious food available. The roads are closed off from traffic meaning that children are in a secure environment. We have a good supply of "picnic" equipment for taking along to the markets.

The house is very much our second home and is only rented out for a limited period during the high season. All our guests have commented that unlike many rental properties, ours really is a home from home.

About Anne and Roger Simpson

We had the house built in 2000 and use it regularly throughout the year. The house is mostly used by family and friends but we are letting it for a very limited period this year. The house will be managed on our behalf by a reputable company who are based locally and who are on hand to deal with any queries or concerns during the rental.

Why Anne and Roger Simpson chose Perigord Noir

The house is very much a home from home. It is not run as a commercial enterprise but is our family's second home and it is only being offered for rent for a very limited period in high season.

This area of France is still relatively unspoilt, even in high season. It offers a wide range of activities for all ages from canoeing, visiting the old towns of Sarlat and Perigueux and just relaxing around the pool or on the plage in the village. The village of Le Coux, which is a 10 minute walk away, has two shops, a wine cave (run by an Irishman and his English wife) post office, small bar and a restaurant. There are markets within easy reach on almost every day, plus the Night Markets which run during high season.

What makes this house unique

The house has wonderful views from the terrace and its location provides for a tranquil stay. It is ideally placed for exploring the wonderful Dordogne, has excellent supermarkets and Markets nearby with the added advantage of having a small village a short walk away which, in addition to having 2 small shops and a Cave, also has restaurant and small bar.

The house with everything +views and location.

The house was fantastic in every way. The description didn't do it justice. Attention was paid to every detail by the owners to make your holiday a good one. The location was perfect as were the facilities. On arrival the house was very clean and tidy and well maintained. I think the views and the starlit evenings,need to be mentioned. We would definitely recommend to friends and relatives. The owners were very helpful and also Simply Perigord the agents. All nine members of our party thought it was FANTASTIC.

Outside: The house is surrounded by an informal garden and has a terrace on three sides overlooking the views. There are 3 sets of tables and chairs plus parasols which can be used at different times of the day depending on the direction of the sun/shade. The 10 x 5 swimming pool has plastic loungers around the edge plus 2 large parasols and has panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The pool is reached by steps to one side of the house or by a grassy slope on the other. This makes it very safe for families with young children. It is fitted with an alarm Duvets, pillows and mattress covers are all provided. There is a small additional charge for bed linen and towels if required. if a cot is required, we will supply the bed linen.
