Why not have a relaxing Easter break? Long walks on the beach followed by cosy log burning fires. The most amazing night skies in the country. Or take advantage of our spa membership and book a spa treatment after your swim, steam room and jacuzzi. The puffins have just arrived on The Farne Islands and pods of dolphins have been following the passenger boats to and from the islands.

Seb's Sea House is a lovely old, dog friendly, cottage which retains many of its original features such as stone fireplaces downstairs and beautifully decorated fireplaces upstairs. However, it has been refurbished to a high standard with new kitchen, bathroom and utility room.

The quiet garden is full of birdlife, including ducks who waddle by. We have provided seating which has been placed to let you view the magnificent sunsets as well as the most spectacular night skies. This is one of the darkest sky areas in the UK.

The private garden is a sun trap. Why not take advantage of our outdoor table and chairs for alfesco dining?

Our garage is available to store bikes or diving equipment.

Our cottage comes with membership of The Ocean Club meaning you and your family can enjoy the swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym and exercise classes. Or why not book in for a luxurious spa treatment?

We chose this property because it is away from the hustle and bustle of Seahouses and has a good sized garden with private parking for two cars. However, a ten minute walk down a tree-lined path and you will be at the most magnificent beach which leads to Bamburgh Castle and Bamburgh Village. The Village has some excellent pubs and restaurants, a deli, award-winning butcher's, the ancient church of St Aidan's and the Grace Darling Museum.

A ten minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to Seahouses Village and Harbour from where you can take a boat out to The Farne Islands. Seahouses has more shops than the other villages in the area including a Co-op, bakers, fruit and veg shop, gift shops, a deli and numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes.

If you fancy a drink at the bar or a first rate meal then you need only walk across the road from Sebs Sea House to the newly refurbished Longstone Hotel.

The whole area is fast becoming a foodies paradise with excellent cuisine to be found at St Aidan’s Hotel, The Mizen Head etc.

You are within driving distance of Alnwick Gardens and Castle (where Harry Potter and Downton Abbey were filmed), Holy Island, Berwick, Dunstanburgh Castle, Bamburgh Castle,(where Transformers was filmed), Warkworth Castle, Low Newton National Trust Village, Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle and Edinburgh. For fans of Vera you are within easy driving distance of many scenes. The cottage has been let to film crews.

There are numerous golf courses in the area, diving off The Farne Islands, bird watching, hiking, cycling routes straight from the house and horse riding; which is is a two minute walk away. Boat trips in the winter months will allow you to see seal pups on the nearby islands.

This house is suitable for couples and families. It can also be used for off peak weekends by groups of golfers. The local courses have weekend special packages available. There are links courses at Seahouses, Alnmouth and Newton.

The property is also available for film crews and actors/actresses, we are flexible on number of days booked outside of school Summer holidays. Superfast broadband available. (Northumberland Coast Actors/Film Crew Accommodation)

We are a 10 minute drive from Newton Hall Wedding Venue and 15 minutes away from Doxford Hall Wedding Venue. We are a short drive from Chillingham Castle. Many of our guests stay with us when attending local weddings.

The area is a bird watchers paradise. There are puffins in Summer on the Farne Islands which are owned by The National Trust. In Winter you can take a boat out to tour the Islands where you can see large colonies of seals. We have negotiated a 10% discount for all of our guests on Billy Shields Farne Islands boats.

Holy Island, reached across a tidal road, is the seat of early Christianity in England. St Cuthbert was buried there until his remains had to be rescued from the Vikings. The Island also has huge expanses of beautiful, clean, empty beaches.

Should you require outside catering then please let us know in advance so that we can contact our caterers. They can provide dinners for two up to special anniversary celebration dinners for all guests.

In further good news we understand that the local fish and chip shop has just won the best chippy award.

About Jacqueline Emmerson

This is Seb's house. He is 8 and has two sisters and a dog called Oscar. Seb and his family use Seb's Sea House as a stress relief get-away location.

The beach is one of Seb's (and Oscar's) favourite places as he can dig (as can Oscar) and explore the rock pools (as can Oscar). The sun always seems to shine.

Jacqueline Emmerson purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Jacqueline Emmerson chose North Sunderland

We have loved the area ever since we visited the beach at Newton by the Sea one Christmas Day. There is something magical about the big skies, the sea, the wildlife and the local people that makes this part of Northumberland a must-go-back place. The area has its own microclimate meaning that it is often drier and warmer than other parts of Northumberland.

Recently there have been pods of dolphins swimming alongside the tourist boats going out to the Farne Islands. The puffins have already arrived for 2016. Why not take advantage of our arrangement with Billy Shiels Farne Island Tours to receive a 10% discount for your whole party. Or book in advance for gourmet catering served to you in our cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

You can walk to Seahouses Harbour and Bamburgh Beach within ten minutes. The beaches are stunning. Bamburgh Castle sits majestically at one end of the nearest beach and Seahouses at the other. This is the gateway to The Farne Islands. At sunset, there is nothing better than sitting outside on the grassed Terrace at the Bamburgh Castle Inn in Seahouses overlooking the harbour and sea and watching the colours of the sky change from orange and red to crimson and then black.

This coast has also witnessed the Northern Lights for a number of months this Winter. We have had beautiful Spring days with some amazing low tides making the beach even bigger, if that were possible. It is so easy to meet new friends on the walk along the beach to Bamburgh. Many have come here on holiday, fallen in love with the place and moved here permanently. For garden lovers why not visit the award winning Alnwick Gardens, Roxburgh Castle Gardens, Cragside Gardens at Rothbury or the beautiful walled garden at Wallington.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a relaxing time after a busy year. The cottage was modern yet warm and cosy. The beaches were fantastic. The kids had a fantastic time in the dark at the beach. We built a fire and looked at the stars and The Northern Lights. Will definitely come again.

Great location for exploring the area

  • 3 of 5

Stayed at the cottage over the Christmas break with friends and 2 fur babies. Plenty of space for all of us and only a short stroll to Seahouses.

Cosy coastal cottage in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice week spent walking and visiting local tourist attractions. The cottage is very cosy and perfectly situated for visiting the Farne Islands and Holy Island. There are a number of National Trust sites within easy driving distance and Seahouses which has a number of good pubs and restaurants is within easy walking distance. All in all we had a very pleasant week.

Great location great house

  • 5 of 5

Great house well equipped and spacious. Everything you need in the kitchen and bedrooms are huge. Gardens are lovely with a separate gated garden with table and chairs to relax in the evenings. We managed 60 miles of walking during our stay and didn't use the car one. Recommend walks to Bamburgh, Beadnall and Low Newton, majority of walking on the beaches and what fantastic beaches they are. Miles and miles of sand with all year access for the dog and lots of rock pools for the kids to investigate. Recommend a stop at the Ship Inn at Low Newton fab food and the Craster Arms at Beadnell. In Seahouses itself we found a base in the Bamburgh Castle Inn with good food but a little expensive compared to the other pubs. Boat trip to Farne Islands and Holy Island was well worth the money... Will definitely be coming back.....

A well proportioned family holiday home

  • 5 of 5

The property is about a 10 minute brisk walk from the Seahouses port and shops and about the same to the beach. Most of the route to the beach was on footpaths no where near the roads, which was great with our three year old and his new bike. I am not sure if we were allowed to use it, but there was also a great playground in the campsite a short diversion from the beach footpath.

The house itself was clean, spacious and the large rooms made for a very comfortable stay. Next time, we would stay longer and make more use of the house and all it had to offer. We felt like we were still discovering things to do even when we were packing to leave.

We had a great trip to the Farne Islands, a 2.5 hour trip was perfect for us and our three year old, which even included a walk around Staple Island. Lots of puffins to see!

I would recommend Seahouses and this property is a good option as a holiday home. Thank you to Jacqueline for her honesty and helpfulness.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time so write such a lovely review. We always run out of time to see everything when we visit. This week we made it to Wooler for the first time. Only nine miles away and a lovely run over the top of the moors.

Seb's Sea House is a lovely spacious cottage with everything you need to have a fabulous stay. We loved the little fenced garden for a chilled time either sunbathing or relaxing with a drink. The cottage is about half a mile to the beach if you turn left out of the drive and about 15 minutes walk or 2 minutes drive to the town of Seahouses. I spent a lot of time just walking down the beach with my dogs. Our stay was much too short so I will be back again.

We dined at the Old Ship one night but I would recommend booking anywhere in advance if you want to dine out as spaces are limited otherwise you will be on fish and chips.

Seb's Sea house was spotlessly clean . There is plenty of space for 6, the 2 double bedrooms are huge. My wife said she would live there in an instant.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. The walk down to the beach is very peaceful with lots of bird life and the sound of the sheep in the field across the road. Plus the view of Bamburgh Castle across the fields.

Perfect location for birdwatching; Sea trips out to Farne Islands for seal watching in Winter and puffins in Summer months. Walking, golf, excellent cycling country, horse riding and diving.

10 minute walk to beach and harbour. The beach between Seahouses and Bamburgh, which has featured by Robson Green's on ITV in his series on Northmberland Tales(http://www.itv.com/presscentre/ep3week46/tales-northumberland-robson-green) is stunning at all times of the year. It is a wide, sandy, very clean beach with Seahouses village and harbour at one end and the magnificent Bamburgh Castle and village at the other. This is probably Britain's best beach! Off the coastline are The Farne Islands and Holy Island famous for early Christianity, seal population, puffins and sea birds (as well as dolphins).

A one hour drive from Newcastle airport; 80 mins from Edinburgh airport; one hour from North Shields Ferry for boats from Northern Europe. One hour South from here to Newcastle by car with access to the city and Metro Centre. 35 mins drive North to Scottish Border and rail links to Edinburgh and Glasgow and beyond.

Seahouses 0.8 mile, Bamburgh 3.3 miles, Alnwick Castle and Gardens 15 miles. Farne Islands from Seahouses harbour-depends on sea conditions.
