Homely cottage with pretty garden, St Just

Overview

Property

Updated: 26-Sep-2016
St Just, Penzance - Quiet location, close to the sea, valleys and the moors.

This charming granite cottage has been renovated and has many interesting features. The kitchen/dining room has steps down to the garden which is a south facing sun trap. The lounge has a wood burning stove. St Just is a walk over the fields (or a very short drive) away which has a co op, interesting galleries, a fish and chip shop, cafes and many pubs all serving good food. On the door step is Kenidjack valley most of which is managed by the National Trust and is a great place for exploring the old tin mining area and wildlife, finishing at a rocky cove close to Cape Cornwall and within walking distance of the tin mining area where Poldark has been filmed. Going inland there are moors where there is a Bronze Age stone circle.

Sennen Beach is about 4 miles away and is a well known surf beach. All around are fantastic beaches including Porthcurno; there is a beach for every day of the week!

About the Owner

My name is Ali and I bought the house 10 years ago mainly because I loved the sunny garden as I'm a keen gardener. I love the location of the house, being able to walk to St Just and down the valley to the sea. My partner and I decided to holiday let the property during the summer period as we are happy to spend time in our camper van. The house has been renovated to a high standard and is now lovely inside.

I had been meaning to contact you to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. Your house has such a lovely feel to it and it was nice to stay somewhere that felt so homely rather than a sparse rental property. Thanks also for going out of your way to provide baby stuff. The children are vey much missing watching the rabbits in the field at bedtime.

Relaxed atmosphere in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic cottage. It has a very lovely feel, is light filled and full of character. It is in a great location; close to St Just and the wonderful mining coast. It also not far to the beaches of Sennen and Porthcurno. We had a fantastic week and the cottage was perfect for us. The children loved playing in the beautiful garden and generally loved the place. We also had a dog with us and he was very much at home. There are great walks on the doorstep. The efficient wood-burning stove was a real treat and made for cosy evenings. The house is well equipped and Ali was so very welcoming and helpful. All in all, an outstanding place to which we hope to return. Thanks so much.

Cute and cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here in early September and loved it. The cottage felt so comfortable right from the moment we walked in the door. It's well furnished and equipped, with everything we needed in the kitchen to cater for ourselves. The décor was bright and colourful, with lots of interesting and quirky artwork. The south facing garden is also lovely. The location of the cottage, just a 10 minute walk from the village, is great. St Just is a lively village, with a butcher, a baker (no candlestick maker!), lots of other shops, cafes, gift shops/art galleries, and four pubs. The Star Inn has a folk music session on Monday nights and we ate dinner at the Kings Arms one night - excellent. It's only a mile and a bit walk out to Cape Cornwall or Botallack tin mine, and the open-top bus that goes to Land's End or St Ives stops just a few metres down the lane from the cottage, so it's easy to get to places without having to drive. The owner, Ali, was very helpful with advice when I contacted her with questions before our stay. We would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely, cosy cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location, close enough to Sennen, walking distance to St Just for shops and pubs. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. Felt like a real home from home, we had a wonderful relaxing stay. The children really enjoyed the surf school (Sennen Surf School) and we had some great coastal walks with the dog. St Ives was great to visit, if busy. Hopefully we'll return for another holiday and we would definitely book here again.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay, the clean cottage had plenty of room for our grown up family.

A beautiful private, sunny garden with BBQ. It is perfect placed for exploring south Cornwall and St Just has all the amenities needed.

Lovely cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable, homely cottage with everything we needed and within walking distance of St Just for shops, bars, etc. Great walks along the coastal path and up to the moors, with fantastic views. The little garden is beautiful and was perfect for our dog. Great location for exploring West Cornwall and there's a bus stop at the end of the road for St Ives, Penznace, etc (open top bus to St Ives is great fun!) Thanks Ali for being so welcoming, so helpful and for the cucumbers.
