Overview

About the property

St Just, Penzance - Quiet location, close to the sea, valleys and the moors.

This charming granite cottage has been renovated and has many interesting features. The kitchen/dining room has steps down to the garden which is a south facing sun trap. The lounge has a wood burning stove. St Just is a walk over the fields (or a very short drive) away which has a co op, interesting galleries, a fish and chip shop, cafes and many pubs all serving good food. On the door step is Kenidjack valley most of which is managed by the National Trust and is a great place for exploring the old tin mining area and wildlife, finishing at a rocky cove close to Cape Cornwall and within walking distance of the tin mining area where Poldark has been filmed. Going inland there are moors where there is a Bronze Age stone circle.

Sennen Beach is about 4 miles away and is a well known surf beach. All around are fantastic beaches including Porthcurno; there is a beach for every day of the week!

About ali law

My name is Ali and I bought the house 10 years ago mainly because I loved the sunny garden as I'm a keen gardener. I love the location of the house, being able to walk to St Just and down the valley to the sea. My partner and I decided to holiday let the property during the summer period as we are happy to spend time in our camper van. The house has been renovated to a high standard and is now lovely inside.

ali law purchased this cottage in 2004

Why ali law chose South West Cornwall

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location within walking distance of the sea it has a sunny sheltered garden and is close to St Just, an interesting small town with many galleries.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I had been meaning to contact you to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. Your house has such a lovely feel to it and it was nice to stay somewhere that felt so homely rather than a sparse rental property. Thanks also for going out of your way to provide baby stuff. The children are vey much missing watching the rabbits in the field at bedtime.

A very charming cottage in a good location.

  • 4 of 5

We are a family of 6 and we found that this cottage has loads of character and plenty of space.

The location was great for us as we are basically beach goers so we were able to pick which coast had the best weather and travel north or south accordingly.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and well maintained and had all the utensils and crockery you would need.

Although we did not use it very much the garden is lovely and quiet and had BBQ equipment if needed.

All of our children are technology junkies and the wifi managed admirably, when of an evening, they were all connected for the same hour.

All communication was swift.

All in all this place met our demands well and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it.

Relaxing, peaceful, cosy and convenient for local attractions.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week! The cottage is clean and bright, with all the necessary equipment and facilities for a very comfortable stay. The woodburner and plentiful supply of logs made for cosy evenings! Very convenient for St. Just, with its supermarket, pubs, coffee shops and galleries, and close to the gorgeous Cornwall coast for walking, bird-watching and rock-climbing. Recommended!

Relaxed atmosphere in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic cottage. It has a very lovely feel, is light filled and full of character. It is in a great location; close to St Just and the wonderful mining coast. It also not far to the beaches of Sennen and Porthcurno. We had a fantastic week and the cottage was perfect for us. The children loved playing in the beautiful garden and generally loved the place. We also had a dog with us and he was very much at home. There are great walks on the doorstep. The efficient wood-burning stove was a real treat and made for cosy evenings. The house is well equipped and Ali was so very welcoming and helpful. All in all, an outstanding place to which we hope to return. Thanks so much.

Cute and cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here in early September and loved it. The cottage felt so comfortable right from the moment we walked in the door. It's well furnished and equipped, with everything we needed in the kitchen to cater for ourselves. The décor was bright and colourful, with lots of interesting and quirky artwork. The south facing garden is also lovely. The location of the cottage, just a 10 minute walk from the village, is great. St Just is a lively village, with a butcher, a baker (no candlestick maker!), lots of other shops, cafes, gift shops/art galleries, and four pubs. The Star Inn has a folk music session on Monday nights and we ate dinner at the Kings Arms one night - excellent. It's only a mile and a bit walk out to Cape Cornwall or Botallack tin mine, and the open-top bus that goes to Land's End or St Ives stops just a few metres down the lane from the cottage, so it's easy to get to places without having to drive. The owner, Ali, was very helpful with advice when I contacted her with questions before our stay. We would definitely recommend this property.
