2 The Granary Holiday Cottage in Brighstone, Isle of Wight, England - Peaceful Location On Edge Of Village, 10 Minutes Walk To The Beach

This Visit England four star rated character cottage is located on the edge of the popular village of Brighstone, with both the beach and the village centre within a 5-10 minute walk.

2 The Granary originally formed part of Brighstone Mill and dates back to 1700. Converted in 1990, this charming cottage has an unusual and cosy layout. The living accommodation is on the first floor with views of the surrounding countryside along with a fully fitted kitchen. The bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor so in the mornings you can just step out of the front door and have your breakfast in our lovely courtyard garden - a real suntrap!

The cottage is furnished to a high standard and with double-glazing and a modern LPG boiler central heating system, is ideal for holidays and short breaks all year round.

Guests are welcomed with a hamper from Brighstone Village Shop containing local island produce and a local newspaper. A typical hamper will include Isle of Wight milk, cheese, apple juice, honey, jam, marmalade, cake, eggs, tomato ketchup & sun dried tomatoes, biscuits, muesli and butter (items can be swapped on request). Fair trade tea, coffee and sugar is available in the cottage. Ferry inclusive deals also available - please ask for prices at time of booking.

Brighstone is one of the most popular and attractive villages on the Isle of Wight. It is situated on the south west coast, around half a mile from the sea. Brighstone has everything that you would hope for in a village - a church, pub, restaurant, doctor’s surgery, newsagent, grocery shop (including Post Office), and even a hairdresser! The Brighstone Forest is 2 miles away, and you will find some spectacular views around the island high up on the Downs.

About the Owner

My love affair with the Isle of Wight began in 2001 following in the footsteps of my boyfriend who spent happy times on the island learning to paraglide and looking for fossils. His love of the island was infectious and more visits followed together. We bought our first cottage (2 The Granary, Brighstone) in 2004 and our holiday letting adventure began! We bought our second cottage (Brookside Cottage) in 2008 and thoroughly enjoy being able to share our cottages and the island with our holiday guests.

Ideal located cottage

  • 4 of 5

Well equipped and very clean property, we wanted for nothing. We were extremely comfortable and warm considering the time of year we chose to be on holiday! We thought the location was perfect being so close to the village yet within easy walk of the coast and frequented both the local pub and shop whose extended opening hours were welcome after our days out and about. The food hamper was a fantastic touch especially the emphasis on local, produce. Many thanks.

overview on Granary Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Delightful characterful cottage, yet fitted with all mod cons...ideally situate with good roads for striking out in any direction on the island. Village was well stocked with produce [if the arrival hamper wasn't enough] from local suppliers. Colourful excitement to the north-east...quiet country and beaches to the south-west. All round great!

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your lovely feedback on our character cottage. We are grade II listed reflecting the charm of our external surroundings and we endeavour to keep the cottage up to date internally. So glad you appreciated our welcome hamper of local island produce and our wonderful village shop.

Lovely cottage, highly recommended.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, cosy cottage. Clean and comfortable with everything provided that you may need, in a pretty, quiet location. The Welcome hamper is a nice touch. The village shop is amazing, provides just about everything you are likely to need, with friendly, helpful staff. And the village itself is in a good location - everything is very accessible.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here - it had absolutely everything we needed, there really was nothing forgotten to make it a 'home from home'. The basket of mainly IOW produce on arrival was superb - a real treat. The location is perfect for walking to the village for pub & shop. We didn't walk to the beach, but it is possible via nearby footpath. Communication with the owner was also excellent prior to arrival - and also would have been easy to contact during our stay if we'd had any problems (which we didn't!) We would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely converted barn cottage with lots of character in a quiet village on the island. It has two nice-sized bedrooms and a lovely open-plan lounge/diner on the first floor. It is equipped with everything you could need including a dvd, cd and board games cupboard. We really loved our time there and will revisit soon. Thankyou.

Location

From the Owner

2 The Granary was our first holiday home on the Isle of Wight. We fell in love with Brighstone village and were very lucky to find the cottage. We couldn't resist it's charms and can still remember peering over the fence on a beautiful sunny day, looking at the garden and thinking "we have to have this!".
