Excellent public transport Railway Cottage is situated in the quiet village of Taffs Well on the outskirts of Cardiff. The property is nestled at the foot of the Garth Mountain with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The apartment has easy access to transport links and many local amenities including shops, restaurants and real ale pubs. A short walk to train station.

It is the perfect base for walking and cycling holidays with the Garth mountain, Taff Trail and Castell Coch within easy reach.

The stay in the Railway Cottage in Taffs Well was superb! The apartment was very tidy, clean and cozy. Thanks to Rob and his nice family, our holiday was top class from first day on. They live next door but that's not bothering in any way and they answer your questions if you have any and try to help you out. The trains, that are coming trough nearby are not annoying and Taffs Well itself is a nice little place with a few supermarkets almost opened at any time. A very big plus point were the pubs in Taffs Well and both of them are very comfy and had great food like steak&onion-baguette and, whats the most important thing to me, REAL (local) ales! Great stuff!

We were out walking every day, nice landscape, great weather. Make sure you pay a visit to Caerphilly and Tongwynlais.

We went to Cardiff on three days (no problem e.g. by train) and were overwhelmed by this city. It's not too big and not too small, has many opportunities to spend the day, shop, eat, explore or just relax, like the museum, the park or the quay. (And my worlds favourite beer: Brains bitter!)

So all in all it was a great stay and we would again like to thank Rob and his family for this extraordinary holiday.

We will definitely be back in the near future, thats for sure!

“Lovely holiday cottage.”

Very clean, tasteful and well-kitted out little cottage. It adjoins the owners house but is very private with its own little garden. Upon arrival we worried that the trains would keep us awake, but not one bit-our baby has never slept so well! Friendly owners that gave us homemade welsh cakes for our journey home. Fab location for climbing Garth mountain and walking along the Taff trail into Cardiff, with good transport links back. The owners were extremely accommodating with us having a little un, the travel cot fitted brilliantly in the bedroom. And what great value! Would definitely recommend it.

A lovely, clean, tidy place to stay. Everything you need is in the cottage and it was the perfect size for 2 of us.

Just a short train ride into Cardiff, which is the main reason we stayed here.

The cottage is perfectly located near to the Taffs Trail - great for walking or cycling, and I would recommend Umber and Siennas Art Cafe just off the trail in Taffs Well. Beautiful!

We had a great days cycling to Caerphilly Castle and Castle Coch.

Unfortunately, there is nowhere dry to store bikes, so make sure you take bike covers with you.

The local pub Fagins, - just 70 steps away- is fantastic! Good food, good beer and great atmosphere. We didn't manage to try the other establishments as we loved this one so much!
