Alinea View villa is located just outside the beautiful village of Plaka, in Apokoronas district of Chania. Standing on a hillside with magnificent unblocked views, the villa manage to combine an elegant and cozy interior with a breathtaking exterior overlooking Souda Bay and White Mountains.
It's unique character and style, with the spacious rooms and elegant details, invite you to a haven of privacy, comfort and relaxation, resting only 0,5km from picturesque village of Plaka and 1km from the sandy beach of Almirida.
The villa has 3 levels and 2 divisions.
The first division is in the 1st floor and consists of two bedrooms with separate entrances (1 double bed & 1 single, which converts to a double if needed), sharing a common bathroom and a small kitchen. There is space for one extra bed here.
The second division expands in the 2nd and 3rd level of the villa, including a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom with stunning views of the sea and the mountains.
At the 2nd level there are all the common areas of the villa, such as a private heated pool with beautiful views of sunset and Souda Bay, an exterior spacious lounge room with fireplace and a BBQ area.
Plaka village is located in the province of Apokoronas in Municipality of Vamos. It is a picturesque and peaceful place, only 1 km away from the sandy beach of Almyrida. With the White Mountains as a backdrop and the lush green landscape, the Apokoronas region of North West Crete is characterized by it's breathtaking natural beauty filled wild flowers, herbs, olive trees and welcoming vineyards. You should not miss the chance to explore the inland villages with their cobbled streets and tasty local delicacies.
Chania, the capital of West Crete, is only 20 minutes drive and has a beautiful Venetian Harbour with a fascinating history as well a cosmopolitan vibe one would expect from a modern city with fine restaurants, bars, clubs, live music, traditional harbour side tavernas and fashionable shops.
Alex Bolarakis purchased this villa in 2010
Alinea view was, for us, the perfect accommodation. Located high on the hillside yet with easy access to Plaka village below and the beach town of Almirida with its wonderful seafront tavernas just a little further away.
We are a family of 5 with three teenage daughters, so the layout was perfect for all of us.
There are many lovely places to visit in the area: Gialos Bay, Lake Kournas, Chania old Venetian harbour, but equally, staying put at the villa and watching the evening sun sink into the sea from the terrace was the perfect end to the day.
Alex was a friendly and helpful host and welcome food package was very gratefully received. We would all love to return one day. Thank you for a wonderful holiday
From the moment you pass through the gates up the private driveway Alinea view villa delivers style and luxury. The pictures on the website are fantastic, but the reality is even better. It is more than just your typical pretty villa, this home has been thought through with exquisite design and enpathy for its fantastic priveledged location. It is tastefully finished with quality furnishings.
There are so many cozy corners to enjoy the fantastic views, from the bedroom balcony, pool terrace, outdoor living room to the fantastic weber barbecue kitchen.
The view over Plaka to the bay is breath taking by day and by night. The sunsets are some of the best you could hope for anywhere.
Plaka is a short walk down the hill and has a pretty square with good cretan family restaurants offering home cooked food, local beers and wine and the traditional raki. The walk back up the hill is a good way to walk off the indulgence of Cretan hospitality in the square.
Stefan and Alex are perfect hosts and will go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortably catered for. We can also recommend Alex to be your Cretan wine guru kindly stocking the fridge with fab local whites on request for our arrival. Thank you both.
We have just returned from a fantastic week at Alinea View and we can only reiterate what the previous 3 reviews have said! Alex met us on arrival which was great as our plane was delayed so it was nearly midnight when we arrived. He was so helpful and friendly which made us feel at home straightaway! It was fantastic to wake up to such amazing views the next morning. The villa inside is lovely and very clean and well equipped but the highlight has to be the outside areas and the lovely pool. We could easily have stayed around the pool the whole time but the nearby villages are worth a visit and there are plenty of other things to do in the area.
Having a young child with us worked well in spite of the division of the villa and sometimes we used the takeaway option from the local tavernas in Plaka which was great.
All in all this is a fabulous villa and we would love to return one day!
This is a GREAT house. It is immaculately presented and beautifully decorated. Every last detail has been attended to. The view from the inside / outside seating area is so lovely that we didn't even notice there was not TV for eight days (and even then, it didn't matter, as there's wi-fi). The pool is lovely and the kitchen is large enough for whatever food storage needs you might have - we were a family of five. The master bedroom is GREAT. Such lovely views. It's like a lifestyles of the rich and famous house! We were greeted by the owners upon arrival and they promptly answered our calls if we had a question or problem. The only thing we were not overly clear on from the initial description was that the two downstairs bedrooms are completely separate from the upstairs part of the house - it's like a little self-contained apartment down there. It was ok, as we brought our child monitors, but it may have been more helpful to know ahead of time, as it affected our sleeping arrangements.
As far as attractions go, I wouldn't give Plaka many stars for things to do, but nearby, the Almirida beach is lovely and low key (not so crowded like some others) - and parking is free. There are several nice restaurants along the beach front. We also went to the Agia Sofia cave, the Botanical Gardens, old town Chania, Lake Kournos, Ancient Lappa, the Lappa springs and the 2000 year old tree. We had great experiences at all of these, as we are quite an outdoorsy / not-sitting-at-the-hotel type of family. It was hot, but that's why we went to Greece in August! Lovely to jump in the pool after a long day out. We had such a good time, we are thinking of returning next summer.
Thanks again for a lovely house!!
I totally agree with all that has already been said the the previous reviewer (Lindsay C); Alinea View is the perfect place to relax, especially around the pool, which in our case, was in the morning, afternoon and evening! However don't be put off by the comments about the steep hill; whilst it's certainly a reasonable incline we regularly managed it in flip-flops on the way back from the Tavernas in Plaka village.
I would also concur about Alex, the property manager; he met us on arrival (although we were late due to delayed flights), and showed us around. He made us feel very welcome and relaxed in our "new home". In fact it had all the little touches you'd expect from someone's home; a first aid kit in the kitchen when someone stubbed their toe; a juicer for lots of cheap fresh "home made" orange juice; a reasonable selection of pans for all sorts of self catering. It was spotlessly clean and well maintained, including having someone come twice a week to clean. Alex was also very available when we had a problem; when we called him to say that the cooking gas cut out after a short power cut which affected the village, he had it resolved within 10 minutes.
Alex also helped arrange Theana to come to the villa and give us an afternoon's lesson in Cretan cooking, which was great fun, especially sitting with her watching the sunset, eating the food we'd all just prepared, and discussing a wide range of subjects.
The only point which was not particularly clear from the description was that, whilst the villa is in "2 divisions", there is no inter-connection inside the apartment; you must go out of one entrance door and back in through another. We we're travelling with older children (mid teens and above), which made this setup a bonus for all concerned :), but we would have been less happy with this arrangement for younger children. However this is a very minor caution for an otherwise idyllic villa and setting.
Would I recommend to a friend? Absolutely!!
Wow what a fabulous villa. We loved everything about Alinea View, from the beautiful decor to the amazing view and fabulous sunsets. Alex the property manager greeted us on arrival and gave us a tour showing us all the areas of the villa and was easily contactable if we needed anything. The villa was very comfortable for the five of us and we spent most of our week relaxing by the pool. We loved the personal touches too like the blankets for cooler evenings and the binoculars for looking out over the bay. Our favourite area was the outdoor living room excellent for drinks in the evening and the outdoor shower and bathroom was gorgeous. There is a fabulous bbq and seating area too. The village of Plaka is a few minutes walk but there is a steep hill up to the villa so we used the car, there are some lovely tavernas in the village and a good supermarket and smaller shop. Only 45 minutes from the airport and Chania old town and harbour is a lovely place to visit. My advice if you want a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings is book Alinea View you won't be disappointed.
