Ideal property for a family get-together

The property was ideal for our purposes - a family get-together for six adults and four small children. There are five large and comfortable bedrooms, and an open lounge/diner/kitchen which is very large and enables all to be together for preparation of food, watching television, playing with the children etc. Children can be easily supervised while food preparation is in progress. Outside there is an excellent children's playground, a pond with very large carp, and an extensive playing field - perfect for young children, especially as, once the car gates are closed, they cannot get out onto the road.

The property is modern and airy and was clean and tidy, and we were well received by the owners, after which we were left to enjoy our stay without any intrusions.

We hope to return to repeat the event some time soon.

Fantastic Holiday Retreat for people of all ages

I have never written a holiday review before but felt I just had to for the weekend we just spent here because it was simply amazing. I have so much to say but David P (earlier reviewer on here) has pretty much covered everything I wanted to write.

My brother and I booked this accommodation to celebrate our parents' Diamond Wedding Anniversary. There were 10 adults (inc my children aged 21 and 24 years and their partners) and 2 children aged 7 and 2 years (the accommodation is for 10 but the owners were very happy to put a small bed and cot in my brother's room for his children). We chose this accommodation as it looked so lovely - it was on one level which was great for our parents and also for the 2 year old (no stairgate needed) and the large grass area (you could call it a field) with goal posts was excellent for us all.

Michelle was brilliant at communication from the moment I made my first enquiry, right up to making finer arrangements such as child bed, highchair, etc.

Our party arrived at various stages on Friday in 4 cars - all of which were easily accommodated in the grounds. The first to arrive were shown around the house which was simply amazing. The accommodation is so clean and well equipped - we lived in luxury all weekend. Every little detail had been thought of. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery and a dishwasher that we made very good use of. There was also a large fridge and separate freezer which was great for us, as we catered at home for the whole weekend, including a 3 course dinner for Saturday night as an Anniversary meal.

We were very lucky with the weather so the bi-fold doors were open pretty much all the time. We lazed around the accommodation virtually the whole weekend, only going out to a local farm on Sunday afternoon. We had a bbq there too. We were not overlooked at all and didn't feel at all 'watched over' but there was someone there most of the time if we had any queries. We loved having our adopted dog Murphy for the weekend but he didn't try to come in the barn at all, even with our doors open.

Our mum's summary: "It was the best weekend we have ever had - I loved every minute of it - sitting on the terrace chatting to my grandchildren, watching them all get along, lazing around with all my family, playing card games - it was wonderful". Our dad says "we must come back for my 90th birthday".

My brother & I couldn't ask for more. Thank you Michelle & family x

Fabulous, spacious and contemporary

We were a group of 6 working in the area for a few days and we needed somewhere relaxing after busy training sessions. This accommodation was brilliant - very spacious, contemporary and beautifully maintained. Everyone involved with the property was smashing: welcoming, friendly and helpful. Alas, the weather was dreadful whilst we were there, but because the accommodation was so good, at least we were extremely comfortable and had plenty of room to stretch out and relax! We would definitely recommend the venue if you are looking for somewhere that is just a cut above!

Fab weekend November 2015

What a fantastic house. Stayed with a group of 9 girlfriends and the house was wonderful. Very modern with all mod cons, the owners have given100% to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. We loved the Christmas trees they put up early especially for our visit for our Xmas dinner celebration. Thank you so much.

August Holiday

We stayed here for our August break. The cottage was fantastic, you felt you was in some 5 star hotel in Spain. The facilities, the cleanliness all of 5 star standard. We visited for the week a large group of us with small children and teenagers, easy reach to London and surrounding areas. The children enjoyed themselves, playing on the field and the play area. The owners are very friendly a special thanks to them for the help at hand would definitely visit again. Thank you Michelle and family

Great property for friends/family to get together.

I found this property on Owners Direct after being let down by 2 other holiday rental companies who shall remain nameless. After looking at the listing and contacting the owner who was very helpful, my group and I decided to book. My group consisted of 10 adults and three babies (who were accomodated in their repspective parents rooms as the listing is for 10 not 13).

On arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Michelle, who gave us useful information about the premises and the surrounding grounds. The property was clean and we were all very impressed by the standard of the accomodation. The property was well equipped and the quality of the fixtures and fittings was excellent. There is a definite feel of luxury.

The layout was good, with the living accomodation at one end of the house with the bedrooms at the other end. the two parts could be shut off from eachother by a set of double doors. The living area of the house was large, airy and is a good sociable space. It didn't feel overcrowded with 10 adults and 3 babies. There are also a number of bi-fold doors which allow easy access to the patio areas and give even more of a feeling of space inside.

The location of the property was ideal for my group with easy access from the A1 (but not so close that road noise came into play). Parking for multiple cars was available inside the secure gated plot and guests had access to the large grassed area also on the plot. With regard to nearby attractions, there was plenty to do nearby for a weekend away. My group visited Woburn Safari Park, which was about 35 minutes drive, and an RSPB woodland at Sandy, 10 minutes drive. There is a pub about 1.5 miles away in Northill (walkable if you chose to) and my wife informed me the were some decent running loops for those who want to keep fit. More attractions are available in the area.

A random comment for a review but, the owner has a very well behaved and placid Collie. My group were all happy with the dog but the owner did say it could be shut away if needed. Even with the bi-fold doors wide open, the dog didn't try to enter the property and it was very gentle around the children.

In summary, the location, layout and facilities were excellent. The property was clean and well presented. The owner was pleasant and we didn't feel under any scrutiny being on the same plot of land as the owners home. I would recommend this property to friends or relatives.
