The Beech Hut, A Wooden Cottage for 2 In A Private Garden near the St Kew Inn

Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Dec-2016
Cabin in St Kew, Nr. Port Isaac, Cornwall - Secluded, Yet Just A Few Paces Away From The Fabulous St Kew Inn And 5 Minutes Drive From Port Isaac

The Beech Hut is in the centre of pretty St Kew village in a private garden where you can BBQ and laze on the ample decking or lunch in the garden listening to the stream flowing by.You can sample some of the best pub food in Cornwall 7 days a week at the Inn on your door step, along with traditional Cornish Ales. In the winter the log burner will keep you cosy (logs supplied) as will the Chimnea if you're eating al fresco on the deck. The garden is frequently visited by Barn and Tawny owls as well as a variety of other wild birds and colourful butterflies. During your stay it's easy to visit a different port or beach each day of the week as well as discovering excellent walking along the coastal path and on Bodmin Moor. Water skiing, kayaking, coasteering, sea fishing and surfing are available within less than a half hour drive. In under an hour you can take in the delights of the south coast by visiting Fowey, Looe, the Eden project and Heligan. Cyclists have a variety of off and on road routes to try out as well as mountain biking at Lanhydrock and Cardinham Woods. There are 18 miles of off road, level cycling on the Camel Trail including the popular Wadebridge to Padstow leg, lured by Rick Stein's fish and chips or posher grub. We can also share with you our own favourite routes to take in sea views or a wealth of indie cafés. Climbing enthusiasts will enjoy visiting Magic Wood as a great wet weather activity for both novices and the more experienced. If you're coming to relax, wind down and enjoy the beaches, Polzeath, Rock, Daymer Bay and Trebarwith Strand are just some of the many beautiful local options. The Beech hut is suitable for stays in all weather with covered decking for BBQ, DVD player, a collection of DVDs and books which you are invited to borrow or add to, and a log fire for chilly evenings. We will provide a local map and tide information to help you plan your days. Wifi is usually available but it is slow and not adequate for streaming. On arrival you'll find a welcome hamper with essentials to get you started in the kitchen and we love sharing our inside knowledge on tides, waves, places to go, things to do if this is your first time here. Babies can stay but please bring own cot. We can take in clothes washing for you during your stay. Bike washing available in the garden. Having your own transport is advisable due to the rural setting.

Gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

The Beech Hut is simply gorgeous and from the moment we arrived, to find freshly baked bread in the welcome pack, Leonie and Rob were superb hosts (even posted my glasses which were dropped on the drive back to us). The Beech Hut has everything you need whether you want a quiet, romantic, getaway or something more active and the lovely location in St Kew makes this the perfect base for exploring all that North Cornwall has to offer - and the cliff path to Port Isaac is stunning.

We were also lucky enough to be there for the Gig in the Garden at the pub next door complete with beer and cider tent and a variety of bands throughout the day.

You will have a great time at the Beech Hut - Can't recommend it strongly enough.

Very beautiful - Cornwall at its best

  • 5 of 5

The Beech Hut is a wonderful, very clean, well equipped and lovely decorated holiday home situated in calm St. Kew next to an old, authentic pub with delicious food. Above all we can recommend the mussels! The warm welcome, the best hosts you can have, a big, quiet garden made us feel very comfortable. No doubt- the Beech Hut is a special place where you feel happy and it is an ideal starting point for exploring beautiful Cornwall. Don't miss to visit Bude, which is not as crowded as other (also beautiful) places, enjoy the lovely beaches nearby, experience small and often steep Cornish roads and, and .... It was just great to be with you, Leonie and Rob! Thanks again for your hospitality. Hope to see you both and of course Zoroo again in the future.

Little Piece Of Paradise just perfect In every way

  • 5 of 5

The Beech Hut is a hidden little gem in a secret garden. it's idyllic & perfect for our honeymoon.

The attention to detail is second to none.

Leonie & Rob are the perfect hosts. We didn't want to leave when our week was over, it was heaven, we were both so chilled & relaxed.

We had a beautiful welcome & the information provided in the beech hut is so useful. They have thought of absolutely everything.

The garden is amazing so private & so peaceful.

Thank you both for making our honeymoon extra special, you're such a beautiful couple & you're lovely personality flows through The Beech Hut.

Thankyou Rob for building this little piece of paradise & to you both for sharing & allowing us to enjoy the peace & tranquility of this beautiful place.

It is central to everywhere & Leonie is more than willing to recommend different places to visit.

There is not enough words to describe this beautiful place.

We very highly recommend you to visit & guarantee you will want to return.

We will be returning in the near future.

Thank you so much for making our stay a week to remember.

Love from

Ian & Kath the new Mr & Mrs Jones xXx

Secluded hideaway hut!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week in the Beech hut. It's a very romantic hut for a couple and has everything you need, including a hammock! We enjoyed bbq-ing on the chimenia. The garden is lovely! The local pub is excellent. St Kew is a great location for visiting nearby beaches and harbour villages. We hope to return!

Location

From the Owner

The house was known to our children when they were very young as it belonged to their grandparents. We decided to move to the family home so that they could grow up near the sea and be in the countryside. We love this place and all it has to offer whatever the seasons bring. We are just as happy taking a storm bathe as basking in the sunshine and love to walk and cycle in this magical spot.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

The local beaches are perfect for surfing or relaxing, they include:

Polzeath; Daymer bay; Trebarwith Strand as well as many smaller coves and bays for discovering. Rock is popular for those wanting a quieter time or for water skiing and sailing.

The Beech Hut is close to the ports of Port Isaac and Padstow.

Distances:

Port Isaac is just over 5 minutes drive away and Wadebridge, the local town, has large supermarkets, banks as well as many independent shops, pubs and cafes, it can be reached within a 10 minute drive. It is also the hub for the Camel trail, 18 miles of nearly flat, off-road cycling. Bikes of any ilk can be hired for the day or half day.

Further Details:

North Cornwall has become known for it's fine local and gastro food. There are 2 Michelin star fish restaurants in Port Isaac as well as excellent Cornish pub food and ales at the St Kew Inn. We advise you to book in advance for the St Kew Inn in the high season. Padstow is home to the many Rick Stein eateries and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant is at Watergate bay near Newquay.
