Chateau / Manor House in Montrosier, Tarn, Midi-Pyrenees, France - Spacious French Country Home With Swimming Pool

Spacious and stylishly equipped with a large lounge and outdoor spaces, the house sleeps up to 7 adults, 2 children + 2 babies in 4/5 bedrooms. Set in the charming village of Montrosier, the rural village provides the perfect place to relax and experience some of that French 'joie de vivre'.

Sans Façon was the original two storey winery for the village of Montrosier built with a pigeon loft around 1830. The owners have meticulously restored the buildings and created two interconnecting houses as well as a pool house and swimming pool and garage.

The property includes two bathrooms, one shower room, a heated swimming pool, and pool house with shower, all are exquisitely finished.

Bedroom 1 is the master suite and boasts a double king-size bed as well as its own large walk in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. The ensuite has a roll top bath and luxury walk in rain shower. If needed, there is plenty of room for a cot. All bedrooms look out onto the lower garden where you can glimpse the river Aveyron through the trees.

Bedroom 2 features two 3ft zip and link beds which can be zipped together to form a double. The bedroom has its own bathroom on the opposite side of the corridor. The shower room features 'his and hers' basins, a walk in shower and a toilet.

The third bedroom has a large king size double bed and an adjoining door to a small bedroom with bunk beds. The additional bedroom can be used as a nursery, a bedroom for teenagers or as a private dressing room. Across the corridor there is another bathroom featuring a roll top bath and luxury shower. The room has lots of wardrobe space and overlooks the lower garden. Finally in the second lounge area there is a futon suitable for 1 adult or 2 children.

Important: Please be aware that there is a road to one side of the house which is not reflected in our images.

Sumptuous accommodation in a delightful location.

We have never been to this area before. The house is in a delightful village/countryside location. Sumptuous accommodation with excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities. Good-sized swimming pool with excellent shower and changing facilities. Pétanque court beside the house, where great competitions were held.

The surrounding area provided plenty of interest - vineyards, excellent restaurants and interesting villages. The nearest which is a must to visit on Sunday for the market is St. Antonin. A little further away is Albi, well worth a visit to see the beautiful cathedral.

Wish we had found this area years ago.

Fantastic property in a delightful location

This is our 3rd visit to the property and as usual we found it a delightful location with all the facilities of a well cared for home. The house has the added bonus now of a swimming pool which has blended into the garden well with the convenience of its own wet room with ample drying areas for swim wear and towels.

The house which is very well equipped and maintained stands out in this typical rural village with easy access to walks and cycle routes to the nearest village of St Antonin which is growing and now provides visitors with some gift shops and many restaurants. To the rear of the property there is a road which is noticeable however we have slept at the roadside of the building on each occasion and it has not disturbed our sleep at any time.

The owners provided maps, games and useful information of local amenities but as the house is so perfect for a peaceful break it was most enjoyable to eat outdoors and play boules at the rear of the property.

We would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful setting and fab house

We have been going to this area for the last 8 years and have stayed in a few different houses, Sans Facon is by far our favourite. It has the space for all of the kids to run about and the gorgeous pool to play in. The house is so well equipped , home from home (although, could do with a microwave for baby bottles ) The Boule court at the back of the house is our favourite place to chill in the evening, hours of fun! Kayaking on the river is great, the Sunday Market at St Antonin is a must, the pizza place in Milhars is lovely.

We have just booked another stay in May and can't wait.

Great stay

Sans Facon is a beautiful property, we had a wonderful stay. It’s been beautifully renovated and a delight to be in. The description given by the owners of Sans Facon is totally accurate even making mention of the road to one side of the house which is not reflected in their pictures. The property is well maintained. You can move round the property with the sun, so if you don’t like the sun you can be in the shade.

The area around the village of Montrosier is fun to explore whichever mode of transport you chose. There are wonderful walks, easy or hard bike rides, historic villages to see and even rivers to swim in. All in reach of a wonderful variety of places to eat. There is much to do and see, we are planning another trip in the near future.

Highly recommend a visit.

The property looks pretty in the pictures and in general it is HOWEVER, it backs onto a very busy road which generates a lot of noise especially in the morning, so you are woken very early in the summer months if you sleep with the windows open, (which due to the fact the property is without air con) you have little choice. The property has been renovated by the owners and they require a deposit which seemed to us very normal, however, you will not see this deposit again! We left this property after a five night stay, we are a nice family from the UK and stayed here with our two children. We were met by the owners cleaners at 10am sharp when we vacated on the 5th day and handed the keys to the owner cleaners as requested. We were called an hour later to be asked where the keys were, we told the owners managing agents that we left the keys with their cleaners as requested and heard nothing more. A month after returning to the UK we were told by our bank that the owners had cashed our deposit cheque, we were not contacted by the owners or his agents at any stage to notify us of their intentions to cash our cheque or the reasons for this, despite their terms of business clearly stating that the deposit would not be cashed without first notifying us and we agree to proceed and gave the deposit on this basis. We emailed the owners to be told that the house was left dirty and we had broken a table and stained sheets by our sun tan cream and that they to be replaced with We certainly did not break tables or stain sheets or leave the house in a dirty condition, as part of the agreement the house would be cleaned by the owners at the end of our stay, a bit like a hotel room, you are not asked to have this professionally cleaned at the end of a stay. We are most upset by the unprofessional conduct of this owner, the misleading photographs that do not show the busy road to the rear of the property and the fact that this owner can just freely cashed a deposit cheque without any evidence whatsoever of our so called mis use of his property, why not say we knocked down a wall too? without a property inventory or schedule of conditions how can we prove anything. I just think it is a terrible way to act. I therefore warn other potential holiday makers to be careful handing over money to this owner.

Owner's Response: Bookings such as this are taken in good faith, and its rare and unfortunate that we have encountered problems such as this. The security deposit was indeed cashed to cover the cost of replacing the bedding and duvets. There are house rules which were clearly ignored, for example bath towels were used for the swimming pool, furniture was moved around the property and not returned to their original setting. The property was left in a very dirty condition, high quality Egyptian cotton sheets and duvets (eight in total) were heavily stained with suntan lotion or fake tan. Professional cleaning could not remove the residue, so new had to be purchased. General rubbish was put directly into the bin without being put in a bag first. There was also a heat regulating button which was missing from one of the showers. The owner went to the property to interview the cleaner and to verify these matters and to establish the whereabouts of a willow basket and egg basket, both of which were missing at the end of their stay. We will henceforth be including details of the road behind the property on all our property listings and admit this was an oversight, although we have not had any complaints from other guests.

  • Notes on accommodation: This property can be let as a whole or split with two bookings. If this is the case, you may share the pool with another family/group. Outside: The old wine press has been salvaged and has pride of place in the winter garden. There is a large covered extension which houses the old winery and outdoor furniture. The lower garden to the front of Sans Façon is grassed with boundary planting and pathways to the log store and the river. The garden is fully enclosed by stone walls and is safe for young children and toddlers. The outdoor space contains a dining table and table tennis as well as a boule court. The swimming pool has a depth of 1.2m and stays warm from mid-May to the end of September. Utility Room: The lower ground floor in the main house also houses a handy utility space with washing machine, deep sink and a fridge-freezer. There is also a WC. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels provided. Other: From the kitchen a door leads to the entree/inner hall with a stone staircase to upper level and sofa seating. The stairway gives onto a large salon with two sofas and a futon. The living space is fully equipped with TV/DVD and CD player.
