About the property

Two-bedroom cottage with stunning mountain & loch views, located on the Fort William road

Ardchattan is a stone cottage dating back to the 19th century situated on the Fort William road in the Highland region of Lochaber. The property overlooks a stoney beach, Loch Linnhe and the majestic Beinn Bheithir range of mountains.

To the south lie the villages of Ballachulish and famous Glencoe, home to Glencoe ski resort and mountains such as Aonach Eagach and Bidean nam Bian, all within 20 minutes' drive.

Stunning views across Loch Linnhe to the mountains beyond can be seen from a new private decking area to the rear of the cottage, which is set within a large garden.

The centrally heated cottage has been renovated and provides comfortable accommodation for 4-6 people, consisting of one double bedroom, a second bedroom with zip and link beds to sleep 2 people either as a double or two single beds and a double bed/settee in the living room. The kitchen diner is a beautifully converted barn with large Velux windows, stone flooring and exposed stone feature wall. The spacious room is fitted with new appliances, including electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave.

The living room boasts views to the front and rear, and offers a cosy environment with wood and coal burning stove, including wall-mounted TV with DVD player. Fast Wi-Fi access is also included, which can be used throughout the property.

The cottage has a fully fitted bathroom with combined bath and shower with toilet and sink, along with a separate small WC.

Wonderful

My boyfriend and I decided just over a month ago to have a weeks holiday around Glencoe. Our aim was to relax, go snowboarding and go walking in the hills. We wanted a cottage that was sensibly located, had a bath, a log burner/open fire and that looked cosy. We looked at lots of cottages online, and all seemed to merge into one as there were pros and cons to each with non clearly standing out. We finally plumped for this one.

To be honest when we were on our way to the cottage I had no clear recollection of which cottage we had picked. All I could remember was that we were in North Ballacullish, that there was parking out front and there was a log burner. When we walked through the door and had a look about we instantly knew we had made an exceptional choice.

Often when visiting holiday cottages I feel the need to wash up before using anything in the kitchen and also feel being barefoot would not be a good idea. Here it was the opposite. The place was beautifully refurbished and spotlessly clean. The heating worked well and kept us warm when outside it was around 0 degrees, the bed was comfy, the kitchen well stocked (even had a roll of tinfoil lurking). The TV linked up to the lap top we had taken and with the WIFI access we could watch NETFLIX, I PLAYER etc. There was a lovely view from all the front windows of the loch. We did stand out on the decking, which was up behind the cottage in the garden, for a brew a couple of mornings but a bit chilly for much else. Had we gone in the summer we'd have loved to sit out and enjoy the view as it was breath-taking.

It took us less than 30 minutes to drive to Glencoe ski resort and the same to drive the opposite way to Fort William. There was plenty of options nearby for hill walks. The local co-op provided us with additional food supplies if required.

During the booking process and afterwards there was almost instant and clear communication with the owners. We didn't need to contact them during our stay as everything ran smoothly, but we felt comforted to know that if there were any issues we could. We would return to the cottage in an instant and felt very at home here during our wonderful week. There was only one quibble, which to be honest is perhaps a bit too much to ask; a bigger sofa... It's currently a two seater sofa and on a winter night it was a fight as to who got to lie to watch the film and who got to hold the feet!

Faultless

Stunning cottage with great views & location. Stayed here for a week over the new year period. Lovely peaceful location with great views over the loch & snow capped mountains. Perfectly located for Glencoe/fort William (Ben Nevis Range). Plenty of walks around the cottage/local area. David & Wendy have thought of everything here. The cottage was fully renovated a few years ago, but is still immaculate. The Kitchen is large & well equipped. The bedrooms/beds are very comfortable, with enough storage for for all your gear. There is plenty of information regarding local activities & attractions & David has a welcome pack which was very informative. We all enjoyed our stay and loved this place. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cottage and views

A beautifuly renovated cottage,clean bright and modern with a lovely family kitchen and good sized rooms. Loved sitting in the garden on the raised decking,looking over the loch and hills.A wonderful location for exploring the local area,with a loch only 100yards away which the dogs loved to walk around and swim in. Excellent!

We spent the first week in June in this cottage and found it to be spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. It's superb location and amazing views were the icing on the cake. It is well placed for both Glencoe and Fort William, not to mention Ballachulish itself. I will definitely book this cottage again and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Perfect Highland Holiday Accommodation

Stayed in this beautiful cottage for a week and couldn’t have asked for more for a great relaxing holiday. With the spotlessly clean cosy interior and great views of the loch and mountains outside, you know straight away you made a good choice staying here.

For walkers and outdoor lovers the area has countless great mountain, river, coastal and forest walks for all ages and abilities and one week certainly isn’t enough to take them all in.

We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely come back to this cottage again.

Perfect spot for a Highland break

This beautiful cottage has everything you need for the perfect holiday in the Highlands. It is spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The location is just perfect. I loved waking up to the beautiful view over the loch. The view from the deck is even better as it sits higher up in the spacious garden. The cottage is in an excellent location. We enjoyed some fabulous walks in the area and also visited some castles - Eilan Donan, Urquhart and Dunstaffnage. From Eilan Donan it was an easy drive on to Skye. Wherever you are in the area the scenery is just breathtaking. A favourite day was a trip to Glenfinnan (great for history buffs and Harry Potter fans) and then on to Arisaig for the most stunning beaches. The Loch Leven Hotel is within easy walking distance of the cottage and we enjoyed a nice meal there as well as visiting a couple of times for a drink after our long days exploring. We had good communication from the owner, David who also popped in to check everything was ok with our stay. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would very much like to return in the not too distant future.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest coast is a stoney beach on the shores of Loch Linnhe a two minute walk away. There are many opportunities within driving distance to enjoy the coastline including the dramatic Ardnamurchan Point or sandy beaches at Morar. There are seaviews from the cottage.

Travel:

The use of a car is advisable to reach the property and to make the most of the opportunities to explore. However access to the Highlands can be achieved by flying to either Glasgow or Edinburgh and then either hiring a car or by Coach. The cottage is on the bus route to Fort William and North Ballachulish has a request stop in easy walking distance to the property. Alternatively there is a train service to Fort William from Glasgow Queen Street station. There is a bus service from Fort William.

Distances:

Glencoe village is 5 miles away with Fort William 13 miles. Oban is 33 miles , Inverness 77 Miles and Glasgow 95 miles.

Further Details:

Basic provisions can be bought at the local petrol station 100 metres away. There is a wider choice at shops in Glencoe and Ballachulish (3 miles). In Fort William there is an even larger range including a large Morrisons. There are plenty of opportunities for eating out, from bar meals to mid price meals at Onich Hotel or The Holly Tree at Kentallen, with top of the range dining at Inverlochy Castle or Airds Hotel, both set in dramatic scenery.

There are many opportunities for enjoying the outdoors. Mountain walking, canoeing, boating, segway, ice wall climbing, steam train ride (Harry Potter line) and mountain biking are just some of the activities. Climb Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, the start is just a 20 minute drive away.

Please contact the owner through email ardchattanholidays@gmail.com or call 07785 993591. A deposit of £150 is required within 7 days of the booking with the balance and £150 security deposit payable within 6 weeks of the holiday commencement. The security deposit will be refunded within 7-14 days after check-out.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are SATURDAYS with bookings for whole weeks. Shorter breaks will be considered at short notice if the cottage is available.

Notes on prices:
Please note there is an additional weekly charge of £20 for the inclusion of a dog.
