Kinaldy Cottage is a renovated 1 bedroom, secluded country cottage, with pine paneling throughout. The living and dining area has an open good going fire, with free logs and coal provided. The cottage is cosy with double glazing and night storage heaters in every room. It faces south with its own grounds and easy access to the hills from the front door. The cottage is set back high above the road with great views over River Errochty with ample private parking beside the cottage. Great location for pet owners and those who love walking of all grades.

About the Owner

I have lived in Scotland all my life and my husband Ian and I bought Kinaldy House in 1985. I then decided to renovate the small cottage behind the main house and make it available for holiday lets ,a decision I have never regretted. I take a personal interest in every detail to do with the cottage and meet almost all Guests personally. Many of the on-going improvements come from comments made by Guests be they dog owners, walkers, climbers, cyclists or just here for real 'chill out' and relaxation.

Apart from my personal welcome all Guests receive a Welcome Tray since I am a keen cook which has led to many an interesting conversation with Guests.

I look forward to meeting new and of course many returning Guests.

Rural tranquility

Kinaldy is a cosy, warm, traditional cottage, in a lovely setting. The owners, Isobel and Ian are very helpful and very knowledgeable about the local area. The cottage is spotlessly clean and stocked with basic food stuffs, so no need to pack tea, coffee, sugar, condiments etc. Isobel even has cakes ready for tea on your arrival. Her hens provide VERY fresh eggs for a small sum. The local area has wonderful walking for all abilities. In fact there is no real need to use your car, if you didn't want to, as the hill and woods behind the cottage are there to explore, plus a pleasant walk along the river to the front. We enjoyed the walking but could have visited local castles, stately homes, Pitlochry Festival Theatre etc if the weather had been bad. This is an area of Scotland that I'm sure we will return to.

The perfect blend of tranquillity and modernity.

This was the perfect retreat for us and our pet cat! The combination of a stunning location and excellent internet speed meant that we were able to enjoy our working holiday to the full. Isobel and Ian, the owners, have thought of everything! A welcome tray of home-made cakes is complemented by a well stocked larder that includes all the kitchen utensils you need down to an egg slicer as well as an excellent range of freely provided provisions including tea, filter ground coffee, condiments and even a supply of pasta. The cottage was extremely cosy and the crackling sound of the open log fire made for tranquil relaxing evenings. The wood and coal is provided free of charge which is such an added bonus. Thanks to a brood of hens free range eggs are also available for a small charge from the 'Hen Table' in the small shed next to the cottage.

The open hills surrounding the cottage are great for walks as well as enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Following a short walk to the top of the hill behind the cottage you can enjoy views of 'Schiehallion', one of Scotland's best known hills and one of the easiest Munro's to climb. While you are admiring this view there is always the chance that you will catch a glimpse of some deer in the foreground or, looking up, a hen harrier or a golden eagle, if you are very lucky. Local forestry tracks can also be enjoyed as well as Loch Chon, a stunning hill loch that is also nearby. Within the cottage there are a number of local guides, maps and written commentaries and recommendations from previous guests that can help you plan these activities.

Although the cottage is in a stunning and secluded setting you are only about a 20 minute drive from Pitlochry, via the nearby A9, where there is a fair sized co-op to stock up on food and drink. As we were on a working holiday having fast reliable internet allowed us great flexibility in combining work with our wanderings through the hills and forests. For the darker evenings there is also the bonus of freesat TV. It is the perfect 21st century retreat and we are looking forward to our next visit.

My husband was brought up in this area and I fell in love with it when I first saw it in 1978. Highland Perthshire is unbeatable in so many ways. Our nearest neighbour is over 1 mile away so peace and seclusion are assured. Access is easy with the main North/South road the A9 only 2.6 miles away so even in winter access is good.

For eating out there are several options both locally and in Pitlochry.

With Drink & Drive limits the Struan Inn is local (2 miles) and if dinner booked then transport to and from can be provided.

Grocery shopping at Tilt Stores in Blair Atholl or the Co-op in Pitlochry.

Booking Notes:
Upon receipt of your enquiry we will send you a booking form(KC1) asking for its return along with a £50 deposit (either by e-mail & BACS or cheque and normal post). We then acknowledge your deposit (KC2) confirming your booking and state the balance due 4 weeks before your arrival date. That week will then be taken off the availability chart. Finally when the balance is received an acknowledgement (KC3) will be sent.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday and we only take weekly bookings Sat-Sat.
For Christmas 2016 and New Year 2016/17 the 7 days run Wednesday to Wednesday
Arrival time is anytime after 1600hrs (4.0pm). Check out time is by 1030 hrs (1030am). The House is always occupied so there is no hassle for a late arrival especially if delayed.
