Light and airy garden flat in Falmouth. Walking distance from beaches and shops.

The Gylly is a two bedroomed, ground floor apartment near Kimberley Park in Falmouth. It has a really lovely south facing private garden and is a 5 minute walk to some fabulous coffee shops and the town centre and a 15 minute walk to beautiful Gyllyngvase Beach. Great restaurants, boats to St Mawes and Trelissick, interesting shops, theatre - all are on your doorstep. On road parking outside and wifi, linen and utilities are all included in the tariff. Well behaved pets are welcome subject to prior arrangement and a £15 charge per pet.

Everyone seems to love The Gylly. It is simply furnished and decorated and just seems to have a nice atmosphere. It is quite private at the back, where you will find a lovely little courtyard garden. This is fenced and gated so it is safe for children and dogs.

The Gylly comes equipped with wifi, a washing machine, oven etc. Ideal for an affordable beach holiday in the summer (you are just a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk from beautiful Gyllyngvase Beach) or for parents visiting their offspring at the uni. We get lots of returning parents!

Payment is 25% on booking and 75% (plus the £100 refundable damage deposit) due 60 days before your holiday if you book direct with me rather than going through Owners Direct. You will also save yourself the new OD commission charge if you book direct with me.

About the Owner

I am a middle-aged, slightly bewildered Cornish woman. I'm lucky enough to have lived in lots of lovely places but returned to my beloved Cornwall when in my mid-thirties. First of all I lived in St Ives with my children and now I live in Falmouth, where, along with my long suffering partner, we are renovating the ugliest house in the West.

I love eating (unfortunately), walking, designing interiors and family holidays, which is why I love it when other people say how much they've enjoyed their holidays in my places.

"The flat was ideally situated for us, easy to find even in the dark and not knowing Falmouth and with easy access to both Penryn Campus where our son is and town. The flat itself was spotless and proved ideal for myself, my husband , our daughter and the dog! It is a fresh and airy flat with a lovely little garden to sit in and enjoy the sun, which we thankfully saw a bit of over our weekend!

All in all, we patted ourselves on the back for having been able to book such a great place to stay.We will definitely look to going back over the next time we go to Falmouth and have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Lovely airy garden flat

The flat is lovely, light and airy, just what we needed for out stay in Falmouth. There was just myself and my two girls, so it was perfect. The little courtyard garden is so quiet to sit in. The shops and beach are very close. Just need to get a little fitter to cope with the hills lol. Would stay here again.

Great family holiday in a well maintained flat

Lovely clean simple flat with very comfy beds ,I don't think I ever slept so well on holiday. Great location we walked into Falmouth and beaches( glly and swan pool ))with a 12 year old in tow although it's quite steep in areas ( I think I need to get fitter ) although we did walk lots we were surprised at the amount of accessible parking available at the beaches.if you need to drive .lovely sunny garden ( all day ) and great secure area for dogs.would recommend

welcoming and comfortable

our stay was really relaxing. only 5 minutes walk down into the town (longer walking back uphill!) some lovely places to visit: boat trip to St Maws is beautiful, the little boutique shops are well-worth looking at (got myself a couple of bargains), the cinema is very quaint and Palacio Lounge Café Bar serves delicious food and the staff are very friendly.

The cottage was really clean, comfortable and well-equipped . Caitlin Thomas was very helpful.

Good location,but lacking in some facilities .

Lack of bins in each room,no wash line, no kitchen scissors and uncomfortable sofa and chairs.

Falmouth is a lovely town for holiday and flat is well located.

Owner's Response: Hello Philip - I'm really glad you liked the location of the flat - it is indeed very handy for the town and beaches. Re the washing line - there is a clothes airer in one of the cupboards so did you mean you wanted an outdoor washing line? There is no external washing line listed in the description of the property. Kitchen scissors - there should of course be scissors, it's possible a previous guest broke them or inadvertently took them away with them. I did text you during your holiday to ask if anything was missing or needed replacing so you could have told me then instead of struggling along without and then writing about the lack of scissors in a review! The sofa is a good quality leather sofa so I'm not sure what it was you found uncomfortable about it but we are of course all different.

Lovely home from home!

This flat had all we needed for our stay in Falmouth. It was clean and tidy and when we had a small request we only had to ring the owner and it was sorted really quickly. We certainly would stay there again, our little dog had a great time too!!

Cosy and welcoming flat.

This flat was perfect for a short stay in Falmouth. We found it to be clean, warm and comfortable. It was very dog friendly with a safe garden and Kimberley Park just a few minutes away for an early morning run about. It was an easy walk down into town and an quick drive to the beaches at Swanpool and Gylly. When booking, Caitlin responded to messages straight away and was very helpful. The wi-fi worked well. We would stay there again.

Location

I completely love Falmouth. I love its vibrancy, its Festivals, its inability to take itself too seriously. Being a university town means there is a lot of new energy in the town every September. It has everything - beaches, great restaurants, theatre, loads of Festivals, boats. And more boats! And did I mention the festivals? So I bought the Gylly because I just liked it and thought I could make it quite nice for holiday guests. And it's in a great location but not having sea views or being bang in the middle of Falmouth means its more affordable as a holiday venue than many other places, yet still a great place from which to walk everywhere or go places in a car or on the train.

Nearest Airport : Newquay at 20 Miles Nearest Barpub : at 700 Metres Nearest Golf : at 3 Miles Nearest Train : Penmere Station at 800 Metres Nearest Restaurant : at 800 Metres Nearest Beach : Gyllyngvase at 1 Miles Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Gyllyngvase beach with the fabulous Gylly Beach Cafe is a 4 minute drive or 15 minute walk away. The Prince of Wales pier - from which you can get a boat to St Mawes, Flushing, Trelissick Gardens and many other places - is an 8 minute walk away. Other beaches very nearby are Castle Beach (1 mile) and the beautiful Maenporth Beach (2.5 miles).

Travel:

Newquay airport is 29 miles away.

Penmere train station is a 6 minute walk away making The Gylly ideal for a non-driving holiday. Buses to various places run from the top of the road.

Distances:

St Ives and the Tate Gallery is 25 miles away, Truro 10 miles away, the Eden Project 28 miles away.

Further Details:

If you saunter down the hill from The Gylly you will find Espressini, which is an absolutely wonderful coffee shop. They have won many awards! A little further on and you are in the town centre.

One of my favourite days out is to catch the ferry to St Mawes from the pier and have lunch either in one of the local pubs, or, if I'm feeling a bit more flush, at the Idle Rocks Hotel on their amazing terrace. No driving is involved at any time making it ideal for a boozy lunch!
