About Helen Pracy

The owners live in Birmingham and love escaping down to Ringmore, although this does not happen as much as they would like, thanks to work commitments and 2 teenage sons.

They have a lovely caretaker who has been managing their holiday let for the last 6 years.

Helen Pracy purchased this barn in 2010

Why Helen Pracy chose Ringmore

Ringmore is a secluded and really pretty little village - it feels a bit like a closely guarded secret. It is close to the hustle and bustle of places like Salcombe and yet is very peaceful. It is a real bonus to have an award winning pub just a few short steps from the barn, which does very good food.

Unexpected pleasures have been the bird life and fantastic night skies.

What makes this barn unique

Ohope Barn has a wonderful sunny open plan living area. There is plenty of space and at the same time has a comfy, family feel.

There are very pretty views to the sea from the garden, and it is only 7 minutes to the beach.

Great accommodatioin in a glorious setting

  • 5 of 5

Ohope Barn has been converted to a high standard and is very comfortable. Since we had wonderful weather we sat in the lovely garden every to afternoon to enjoy tea after walking sections of the SW Coast Path (this is a good base for walkers). We were serenaded by all species of garden birds, enjoyed the screaming swifts as they hunted for their food and were treated to swallows nesting in the upper porch. Brilliant! Good parking and a super pub two minutes walk away - what is not to like? Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Dear Neil Thank you very much for your review. The bird life in Ringmore & surrounds has been an unexpected pleasure for us, as has the night sky there when it is clear. The stars are just amazing due to there being no light pollution. Sitting in the garden on a sunny day, looking down to the sea is a joy. I'm so pleased you had good weather & enjoyed the award winning pub!

Owner's Response: Dear Ernest Thank you very much indeed for your 5 star review. There is certainly plenty to do in the area, including great walks, golf, cycling & surfing. Alternatively, it's lovely to simply chill out in the garden or the village pub. There is allocated parking for 2 cars in the quadrangle right outside the barn. As you say, additional parking is on the road by the church ( anywhere between the church entrance & the bus shelter), which is a matter of a few yards from the barn. I am so glad that your family had a great stay !

Owner's Response: Dear Elaine Thank you very much for your review. Ohope Barn is under new management this year with Pebbles of Salcombe, who do a great job in seeing that the barn is well maintained & continues to be well equipped I agree - the Coastal Paths in general are not that 'push-chair friendly', but a buggy can be used at Bigbury beach. I'm so pleased that you dogs loved it there, as does ours. You are most welcome back!

Home from Home.

  • 4 of 5

Ohope Barn is a delightful home away from home. Bright, spacious and warm with a lovely enclosed garden to while away a sunny afternoon. My husband and myself along with our 2 dogs have now spent 2 delightful holidays there. The kitchen is very welcoming and a pleasure to cook in and when the evenings turn a bit chilly the fireplace is extremely welcome. Though the barn keeps its heat due to the big windows and skylights.

The beach at Bigbury is truly fabulous and the dogs love it , a firm favourite for us. Dartmouth and Totnes are a pleasant drive away and both great places to wander around. All in all there is lots to see and do in the South Hams and Ohope Barn is a great base.

Beautiful location and plenty of space!

  • 4 of 5

We arrived and definitely had a wow factor allowing lots of space for us all. An easy walk to local cove and pleasant walk to Bigbury with excellent facilities. There was supposed to be a land line as mobile phone signals were bad but the line was dead and a couple of bedrooms had curtains with only half the hooks on which was surprising. We paid for the best and felt more attention needed. We did expect a few cobwebs due to being a barn but in the windows and corners of rooms showers lack of cleaning. Sorry it sounds like our holiday was disappointing when it was amazing just some care and time needed on the property.

Owner's Response: Dear Janet - I'm pleased to hear you had an amazing time on your holiday. It certainly is a very roomy barn & close to the beaches too. We have addressed the issues that you raise. As regards the land-line, this is fixed & guests can make short standard UK calls at no extra cost. We would urge our guests to get in contact with the caretaker as soon as possible if a problem does arise, as issues are usually sorted very quickly. Our friendly local electrician sorted out the phone problem in a matter of minutes !

A lovely cottage in a lovely setting. Fabulous kitchen. Well equipped with plenty of towels etc.

Excellent for our party of 8 adults and two dogs. Lovely to be able to open the French doors and eat in the garden. Lovely walk through the village down to the very quiet beach.
