The wheelhouse at Staveley is a unique new to the market holiday let in a great location. It has been totally renovated during 2014 and is now a superbly comfortable, really well equipped property with a few special touches that make it a great base for families, groups or couples. The property most comfortably accommodates and sleeps 6 people. The Wheelhouse at Staveley is not your typical country cottage, it's a unique building with a modern subtle appearance with architect inspired use of materials making it fit perfectly in the local village. One well behaved pet is allowed and short breaks are possible. The lounge and dining areas are both very comfortable and the modern well equipped kitchen is high spec with all mod-cons, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, breakfast bar and a washing machine is also available for guest use. The fixtures, fittings, bedding and towels are all of a high quality and there is free WiFi. A high chair and travel cot are always made available. There is a private patio area to the front of the property and private reserved parking for 2 vehicles to the rear of the property and a further space to the front if required. The Wheehouse is perfectly positioned for exploring Staveley and the Kentmere valley with its fabulous trails, walks and climbs. The Kentmere valley is regarded as the entrance to the 'mecca' of mountain biking and the trails and walks start straight out of the front door. Staveley is a busy, thriving village and the property is easily accessible directly off the main road from Staveley to Kentmere and is perfectly positioned for exploring the beautiful lake district. Literally open the front door and pick your walk, local to craggy wood, a little more adventurous to potters tarn and guernal dubbs or why not pack your lunch and head off to walk the Kentmere horseshoe! The wheelhouse at Staveley is only 300m from the centre of the village and its many welcoming and varied patrons so after your walk why not head to the Eagle and Child for a pub lunch or try the tapas at the Hawkshead brewery or wilf's cafe for a veggie chilli....There's lots more. Staveley is a great place for cyclists and at the Wheelhouse we have provided facilities to make your stay comfortable and hassle free. So why not bring your bike on holiday as a few special touches certainly make life easier for the recreational enthusiast? The property has a heated drying room where you can put your wet gear in at the end of the day, there's a secure and alarmed cycle/equipment store and a cycle/equipment workshop with tools and a proper cycle/equipment wash facility to clean your bike. The equipment store(s) are also perfect if you have a young family, simply push your buggies and prams into the stores with piece of mind saving you the hassle of having to pack them into the cars at the end of each day!

Notes on accommodation: We have a chaise longue on the landing and we use this as a "TV/Games" area for the kids! Perfect for them to play out of the way! Outside: To the front of the property is a secure gated garden/parking area. Private parking for two vehicles is at the rear of the property. Utility Room: A washing machine is located in the downstairs Utility area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided and these are changed weekly. The property is cleaned once a week. Other: We have a luxurious Swedish sauna (metered) to help ease away the aches and pains of a long day on the fells!

We stayed at The Wheelhouse for a long weekend Thurs to Fri for a girls quiet break away. From the booking process, the arrival to when we left we could not fault anything, the communications were excellent and the property is outstanding especially the sauna.

The property is immaculately clean with all mod con fittings carried out to a high specification. Located in a quiet village - which suited us. It served as an excellent base for us to travel to all locations in around The Lake District without the hustle and bustle of staying in those areas.

We also discovered some lovely local walks in and around the area and everyone was very friendly . A lovely get away retreat! will definitely be booking to stay again

Booking Notes:
20% deposit required at time of booking, with the balance to be paid six weeks prior to arrival. If your booking is less than two months away then payment will be required in full.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday, however, we can be flexible. Arrival is 3.00 pm and property is to be vacated at 10.00 am on day of departure.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
