Our 3 bedroom; 2 terraced with 1 en-suite apartment, is situated in the centre of Tavira, a beautifully elegant town which has managed to stave off the influence of tourism. The apartment is approx 5 minutes walk from the Roman pedestrian bridge, over the river Gilão which is a great place to sit at one of the cafes and enjoy the very picturesque setting. Our apartment nestles between Cafe Venezuela & Restaurant Xico and opposite the Tavira Music Academy. If you enjoy shopping then it is walking distance to the Gran-Plaza shopping mall - it has a fantastic selection of shops, places to eat and cinemas as well as a large Continente supermarket.

My husband & I both work and live in England, but spend most of our holidays in Portugal where we have made many friends & have really fallen in love with Tavira & its hidden delights.

Ultimately, we love Tavira because of its rustic charm & fantastic beaches. The town is easily accessible with Faro airport approximately 35 mins drive away.

Loved the home to home feel, so welcoming

Bernie and Dan's apartment absolutely fabulous, felt so welcome and priveledged to stay in their home. So close to the centre of Tavira with excellent bars and restaurants to drink and eat in. Would not hesitate to book Bernie and Dan's apartment again and loved the personal and individual service that they gave me.

A great apartment in a wonderful town!

Bernie and Dan have provided the perfect place for a Tavira holiday. Superb Stay (Apartment; Golf & Tavira)

The pictures and reviews of this lovely Apartment certainly measured up!

The golf at all three of the courses visited was superb & all within 15-30 minutes of Tavira by car. Tavira itself is just as I remembered it from a previous visit of five years ago but with more restaurants & bars to visit.

I would recommend this property to others & would certainly revisit if in the area again.

Tavira - March 2016

Our stay in Bernie and Dan's apartment was just the tonic we needed to chase away the winter blues. The apartment is perfect........ Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated throughout with light and airy rooms, a well equipped kitchen, fantastic outdoor terrace and the comfiest of beds! It's a 5 minute stroll to the picturesque town square where a plethora of wonderful restaurants and bars await, all offering excellent food at very reasonable prices, in particular the fish and seafood dishes which were so fresh and delicious. There are lovely shops selling portugese crafts and art, winding narrow streets with charming houses and beautiful flowers and trees everywhere. A cup of coffee or cold beer outside one of the traditional bars or cafés, nibbling on tapas and watching the world go by is a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon......... We were lucky enough to be there at the Easter weekend when it's the tradition to cover the streets with local lavender....... The fragrance was intoxicating as we walked on the carpet of aromatic stems! We loved our stay so much that we have booked again for June 2016! Many thanks Bernie and Dan........we had such a fabulous and relaxing break!

Hackers stay

The apartment is a short drive from Faro airport in the wonderful town of Tavira.

Tavira has many good quality restaurants that made eating out a pleasure.

I found the service very good and the people friendly.

The apartment is large, has all the facilities to make your stay comfortable and is a short walk to the centre of town.

A gem of a holiday

Tavira is such a beautiful and friendly place. The apartment is very tasteful, spotlessly clean and is well equipped in every way. It's location is perfect for bars and restaurants ,catching the train and near enough to catch the ferry to the idyllic beach. It was a lovely 4 day break - it just went too quick.

From the Owner

Tavira is a unique experience, mainly because of all its Historical background and untouched archaeologic traces which manages to keep it as one of the most characteristic or rustic cities in the Algarve region. It has a mix of Roman, Arab and Christian historical heritage, which results in a centre with remains of castle walls, churches (37) and bridges from different eras. Put this together with fantastic beaches and the islands around Ria Formosa area, and you have a unique scenario likely to dazzle many-as it did us! In what was the walled part of the city, remain winding narrow streets, not very different from the heart of most Algarve cities. Walking and sightseeing through them is very nice, although it's true that the area is not large and any walk will likely be brief.

Activity and Interests


All beaches have the converted EEC blue flag safe with small tides where you can walk, swim or just relax. Boasting one of the warmest temperatures in the Algarve. Tavira island and Barril beach can be reached by a ferry/aqua taxi within a few minutes walk of the apartment.

Changeover Day:

From the Owner

The centre of Tavira is located on a river inlet about two kilometers from the coast, and beaches are located in the island just in front of it. As a result, huge uncrowded beaches are guaranteed, except in the months of July and August where they tend to be somewhat more sought after. The only way to reach the beaches is ferry boat or water taxi that run between Tavira and the Island which is 11km long and varies between 1km and 150m width. The starting point for the ferry is located within 5-10 minutes walk from our Apartment and the river boat trip takes about 15 minutes. This beach holds the blue flag, proof of its environmental quality and superiority with the provision of many restaurants and bars.
