About the property

House in Wortley, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England

Huthwaite Grange is a magnificent Georgian detached house. It was originally built for the owner of the internationally important Wortley Top Forge which stands opposite, the oldest surviving water powered iron forge in the world. The house has just completed a painstaking restoration to a standard befitting of such a historically important building. All original feature have been restored using historically accurate techniques and materials while modern services, insulation, solar power and underfloor heating have been added but hidden from view.

Couldn't have asked for more!

We hired this for a group of friends and we couldn't have been more impressed. The house is beautiful and has been tastefully refurbished. The gardens are well kept and luckily we had some sun shine over the weekend so were able to have a BBQ.

We visited the Bridge Inn just around the corner and the landlord made us all feel at home. Good, simple, Yorkshire food with friendly service to match.

I would reccomend this house to anyone and I will certainly be booking it again in the future.

A home from home

  • 5 of 5

The house is just as it appears in the photos, and is in an idyllic setting, with easy access to essential amenities (i.e a pub) and some pleasant walks from the doorstep.

As the title of this review suggests, this house really feels like a home, rather than an holiday home which is the main reason my family and I hope to return in the future.

Other than the homely feel, it is clear that a lot of thought has gone into ensuring that this house is suitable for large groups. For example there is an 8 (or something like that) slice toaster.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in this area.

A really lovely house, immaculately clean and tastefully decorated: a real home from home.

We had a great time and enjoyed the peaceful setting and wonderful walks. The views and surrounding countryside are breathtaking!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house to my friends and will definitely be rebooking.
