Pigeonnier With Private Pool And Valley Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 19-Nov-2016
Cottage in Sainte Alvere, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France - Picturesque Location In The Perigord Noir

The Pigeonnier dates from a quieter age, three storeys high and with walls nearly a meter thick, it is surrounded by trees and set in 2 acres of meadow land. The top floor, once home to flocks of pigeons (hence the name) is now empty. This 1 bedroom tower is perfect for a couple that want to explore the Dordogne region or just relax and recuperate.

Perfect place to relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

We've just got back from a week at the Pigeoneer and absolutely loved it! It was so peaceful and relaxing. Gavin was a pleasure to book with and Jackie and Alan were brilliant hosts, gave us our privacy yet were always on hand if need be. We're missing it already, can't wait to come back! Lots of love from Beth and Jay xxxxxx

Quirky, rustic, peaceful and perfect!

  • 4 of 5

We have recently spent two wonderful weeks at the Pigeonnier. Once you get your head around this unusual property it is simply just sublime. There is everything you need here and we had such a lovely welcome from Jackie and Alan. This was our first proper holiday without 'the kids' and after two weeks we didn't want to leave. Would we go back ? Yes! Would we recommend it? Yes!

Perfectly quirky rural escape

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in the Pigeonnier. It is a delightful property, immaculately clean and very well equipped - better indeed than in the description. Renters do need to be aware that each of the rooms can only be accessed from outside - but umbrellas are provided! Owners Alan & Jackie could not have been more helpful and considerate. The grounds are lovely and the pool - actually in their back garden behind the property - is for your sole use, a good size and very well maintained. Ste Alvere is an easy 5 minute walk and has all necessary facilities, incuding a cash point. Wifi access at the gite is a bit erratic - but you can move closer to the main house to improve it. There is good privacy at the pool and outside the gite's "lounge" for sunbathing. For the right couple, this is the perfect spot for a relaxing break.

Owner's Response: Dear Alan & Suzannah, Thanks for your review, honest and fair. The Pigeonnier is definitely quirky and has it's own character! It is what it is and we hope that is a 'positive' for our guests. We always respect your privacy. Hope you enjoyed your stay and have good memories.... The Reditt family.
