About this property

A Recently Updated Barn Conversion Offering Spacious Luxury Accommodation

Recently refurbished and offering spacious and interesting accommodation for either two families or large parties of friends to enjoy.

DOG OWNERS - We warmly welcome one or two well-behaved furry friends, but please do not make an instant booking if you have more than two dogs. Instead, please message us and let us know about your dog companions and we will consider whether we can accommodate. Please familiarise yourselves with our pet rules.

The Old Barn is ideally situated for a number of pursuits including walking, bird watching, beach activities, or as a base from which to explore all that the North Norfolk Coast has to offer.

Only 2 miles from Thornham in one direction or Hunstanton in the other and 8 miles from Burnham Market. Ringstead, with the great Gin Trap Pub, is also less than a couple of miles away. Sandringham is also just a short drive away too.

Discover the White Horse Pub during a nice walk through the village. They serve an excellent choice of food and drinks. There is also a safe play area and garden for the children too. We regularly stop off here on our walk to the beach.

Heacham is located between Old Hunstanton and Thornham. There are so, so many great places to eat and drink within a 2-3 mile radius; far too many to list.

Huntstanton has a Tesco Superstore, as well as a Sainsburys and many other interesting shops. There is also an enormous Lidl located on the coast road at Heacham, which is really good and something we use a lot. But in this day and age, it is probably just as well to get your groceries delivered by Tesco/Sainsburys and save on room for packing.

Several of the take away restaurants in Hunstanton will deliver to the Old Barn, so there isn't any need to venture out if you don't fancy it and don't fancy cooking. Our favourite curries come from The Spice Garden at Heacham and they are happy to deliver too. We collect our Chinese food from Silk Road, next to the BP Garage at Heacham. This is a very good restaurant which also caters for take aways.

When the weather isn't playing ball and you have young children to entertain, it is worth considering the Oasis centre (Swimming) at Hunstanton, or Farmer Fred's Play Barn at Heacham. Not forgetting 10 Pin Bowling at the Hunstanton Pier, arcades and Sea Life Centre (all at Hunstanton).

ELECTRIC CARS:
Due to insurance purposes, guests must never charge their car using a standard outdoor plug or an extension cable linking to a domestic plug. This is not permitted because of fire regulations regarding wiring, earthing rods and voltage restrictions; it poses a serious fire risk to standard 13 amp sockets and there is a real danger that the body of the vehicle could become live. There is no EV Charging point at the property and if you have an EV, you will need to charge it elsewhere. Use of electricity to charge cars is not included in the rental price.

Another fabulous weekend
This was my fourth stay at this wonderful cottage, it's so lovely to stay somewhere and know everything will be perfect! Spotlessly clean as always and it has everything we could possibly need, including a very well kitted out kitchen. Everything about the property is spacious, comfortable and very well furnished, we always have a great time. Owners are very friendly and responsive to messages. I'm sure we will be back again next year!

Home Next The Sea at Christmas Time
For a winter stay - comfort and warmth are the two essentials and Main Barn more than provided for these. After a long walk with our dog taking in a new route each day, to sink into the sprawling settees with the log burner in the sitting room with tea and cake was 'heaven'. We were a party of eight and the house was spacious and accommodating on both levels so we never felt cramped or on top of each other. Our purpose was to go to Sandringham on Christmas Day with the added bonus of not only seeing the royal family but shaking the hand and wishing a Merry Christmas to HM The King and HRH The Prince of Wales. Minimal queuing time, we arrived at the gates for 10.30 am and were searched before going in - 11 am - The Royal Family passed us by - we enjoyed the church service on the loud speakers and then were lucky enough to be able to speak to them afterwards. The Christmas Turkey was in the wonderful Rangemaster Oven and we returned to toast with champagne and a lovely Christmas lunch at the eight seater dining table. The drive is gated so we were not worried about Ivy (our dog) getting out onto the main road and I would imagine the garden would be wonderful in summer time. Would highly recommend the local pub 'The White Horse' - a short stroll into Holme Next The Sea after a windswept walk on the beach - no hills - manageable for all ages. A well equipped, tastefully decorated home to rent with lasting memories of our stay - thank you so much to David and Claire.

The Old Barn - Holme next the Sea
This 300 year old barn has been tastefully renovated with plenty of space for our family group of 8 (old and young) to be together or spread out and everything we needed.was provided. The village itself is lovely and you can walk easily to the local pub or beach. The Barn is ideally located for all the lovely towns and villages along the coast we visited somewhere new every day and ate out several times.

We are a young family and purchased the The Old Barn, Holme, in 2006. We carried out a completed refurbishment and modernisation and continue to make little changes here and there every year. We live near Stamford and travel regularly to The Old Barn to escape work and immerse ourselves in the sheer beauty of all that the North Norfolk coast has to offer.

In 2007 we also bought two properties next to the beach at South Beach, Heacham. We thought these would be perfect for our children to grow up around and play by the beach in the traditional way.

Why they chose this property

We scoured properties for sale from Heacham to Wells, but The Old Barn stood out as having so much light and airy space and a large enclosed garden, that made not buying it very difficult indeed. It is superbly located for children's activities as well as those for adults. The estate agents words to us were 'don't go too far round the coast, as this area is where all the action is.' SOLD!

What makes this property unique

The Old Barn has four generous bedrooms and enough showers and wc's that two families can share without getting in each others way. But the best bit for us is the huge living spaces and the lovely log burner. As soon as we unpack we walk to the beach for some sea air and then stop off at the local pub on the way back for a real ale. Perfect.
