. We love the old fashioned friendliness and politeness of the neighbourhood,where people have time to chat to you from the servers in the supermarket to the early morning walkers. Residents take pride in their homes and gardens and are always ready to help out . SW56th Terrace is purely American residential ,we are the only UK residents but have felt at home right from the start. The home is lucky to be right on a canal where dolphins and manatees are often seen . Within easy distance of all amenities it is ideally placed for us.

What makes this house unique

Cape Coral offers canal side peace, animal life, boating and the chance to wander over to Cape Harbour if you fancy it. More of a 'hands on' home if you like for family living. The home is owned by us and used by us.

We had a delightful stay. The home was impeccably maintained and had all the necessities. The pool was inviting and relaxing. The direct Gulf access allowed us to explore the restaurants and attractions via water. We arrived on Christmas Day and the home owner arranged for us to have food delivered to the house since all the stores were closed.

Coast/Beach:

Fort Myers beach is around 30 minutes by car with a large expanse of clean white beach and beach front restaurants,cafes and ice cream parlours. A water shuttle from Tarpon Marina operates to the beach. Cape Coral Yacht Club is a 10 min drive, smaller beach with facilities. Boat taxis can be taken to Ft Myers beach from Cape Harbour or hire a boat yourself! Vanderbilt Beach near Naples is also worth a trip

Travel:

A choice of airports..Orlando, Miami and Tampa, Tampa being the nearest at about 2 hour's drive. You can fly in to the local regional airport depending on which country you are coming in from. Why not fly into Orlando.. do Disney then hire a car and drive down to recover in our home in Cape Coral? A rental car is advisable to fully appreciate the area and what it has to offer.

Distances:

Fort Myers is approx a 30 min drive away. Sanibel and Captiva, around 30 mins by car. All can be reached by boat which is a lovely way to get there. Busch gardens theme park is about 1.5 hours drive away. There is a 10 screen cinema and shopping in Bell Tower Plaza and wonderful pizzas at Grimaldi's

All just over the bridge in Ft Myers. Edison Mall over the bridge and north on the 41 gives further shopping opportunities...JC Penny's for clothing bargains for all the family,especially you golfers. Try a Philly Cheese steak in the food court there

In the nearby Camelot Isles Plaza is a large Publix supermarket, bank, hairdressers,dentist,nail salon,Papa John's, Subway, to name but a few ! Everything you might need on a regular daily basis is to be found there. Cape Harbour development offers more ('Google' for detailed info as this does vary ) Please also google 'what to do in Cape Coral' this place is a hidden gem! No visit is complete without breakfast at Annies and a mooch round the antiques and collectables shop next door. Rent a kayak and cruise the network of canals or hire a bike !

Notes on accommodation: The property is privately owned and not a rental property as such, thus affording our guests a home from home. Floor to ceiling glass sliders to lounge and kitchen allow the outside to come in and a light and airy feel throughout. It has the benefits of a peaceful location but is within easy reach of varied leisure facilities and attractions. Our House Manager is on hand to help with any problems and questions. All relaxation areas at rear of the property thus privacy and peace virtually ensured. All furnishings brand new in 2015/16 Outside: Regular size,graduated depth heated pool enclosed in screening making bug nuisance minimal with tiled Lanai area ,bar, dining table and chairs, accessible from guest annexe and kitchen as well as the deck. Wooden decking alongside the canal is the perfect place to relax and spot dolphins and manatees.Tended garden to rear and front Utility Room: Washing machine, dryer, ironing board, iron, fixed drying rails. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen provided. Cleaning ,bed change,laundry, once a week. Note: house is staffed all year,cleaning/laundry non negotiable. Other: Bistro dining area in kitchen. Large study with plenty of work space. Guest annexe and Master Suite at opposite ends of the house ensures privacy.

Although our expectations were high based on the description and reviews, they were exceeded from day one. The house and facilities are superb and the location is excellent.

A real bonus is having a very attractive harbour with bars, restaurants and shops within a ten minute stroll from the house. Boat trips are also available from there.

Dealing with the owners and housekeeping was a pleasure.

SECOND TIME AROUND

We enjoyed our stay so much last year, we just had to return for another wonderful experience. Lovely home with all the amenities including water view, heated pool, and a covered patio with a charcoal grill. The house is located within walking distance of the marina, restaurants and shops.

Both the owner and the manager are welcoming and responsive. And, they make you feel like you truly are "home away from home."

The Perrfect Winter Escape

A beautiful home, a gorgeous canal with dolphins and manatees visiting us daily, to fantastic bars and restaurants within walking distance.

The rooms were beautiful yet comfortable and roomy for us and the kids. The pool got lots of use from kids and adults alike. We definately hope to return next year for another wonderful vacation. Thank you Hillary for making us feel welcomed into your little piece of heaven.

Perfect house, perfect location!

The house looked great on-line, and exceeded expectations in-person. Rental properties often lack charm and warmth--not so, this house. The tasteful decor and furnishings were complemented by a myriad of small personal touches, which turned it into a true home-away-from-home. It was evident that the owner desires guests to feel relaxed and welcome.

The kitchen was well-outfitted, and the large enclosed lanai lacked no amenities. We enjoyed swimming in the heated pool, sipping wine from the wine-frig, cooking on the grill, and relaxing on the dock watching boats, flying fish, and manatees go by.

We found the property to be well-maintained, and the owner and housekeeper to be friendly and accommodating . It was a pleasure to deal with them.

The location couldn't be better. It is set on a quiet street---in walking distance of the marina, great bars, restaurants, and shops. We hope to be back again soon!

So pleased we chose this house!

We booked this property, as we wanted a large water front property in a quiet neighbourhood, with bars and restaurants within walking distance; we also wanted a heated pool, and well equipped kitchen, as we were planning a family Christmas break with our adult offspring.

This house exceeded all of our hopes and expectations. The owners and the housekeeper were a joy to deal with, even offering to keep Christmas gifts that were being delivered for us, and offering help and support when our stay had to be extended at 12 hours notice!

The house is very large, and the neighbourhood is pleasant and quiet, with the facilities of Cape Harbour Marina (boat tours and hire, shops, bars and restaurants) within a five minute walk. The area as a whole has plenty to offer, and the open water is a short paddle away in a kayak (rented locally). We were enchanted by the almost daily visits of two manatees, and spent many an hour trying to photograph the jumping fish in the canal behind the house.

House is VERY well equipped, we cooked a full Christmas dinner, and still didn't manage to use all the utensils!

Highly recommended.

Please contact the owners via email in the first instance, we would be happy to call you and have a more detailed chat: we welcome conversation ! A holding, non refundable deposit of 20% will be requested at booking with the balance payable 6 weeks before departure. An 8% sales tax Is included in all bookings. Payment is to be made via wire transfer to our bank in Florida. Please also note that Christmas bookings are for a minimum of 2 weeks and will be charged at $250 per night inclusive of 8%sales tax. Please note that as from 2017 tax has increased to 11%, we will absorb the extra 3% and due to the poor exchange rate, for U.K. Based guests only we will waive the 8% tax. Our standard rate will become $200 per night inclusive of tax. ( $185 per night instead of $200 per night and tax charged to guests at 8% ) for UK based guests only. All others will be charged $200 plus the 8%

Changeover Day:
We are fully flexible regarding arrival and departure days. We would ask that departure is before noon and arrival is in usual working hours after 2.00 p.m.to enable our House Manager to meet and greet you. We are often able to accommodate late departures upon request.

Notes on prices:
Longer rentals are accepted . Please be advised that the rental price agreed upon is for the accepted number of guests in the contract. Although guests are renting the whole house the agreement does not enable guests to host an "open house" for visiting friends and family during any part of the rental period. The rental price is based on utilities used and laundry and cleaning for two adults.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
