A unique holiday home owned, operated & managed by us Terry & Lyn we will welcome you into our home for your special stay on the Lower Mill Estate where you will have a fun time, to relax & unwind in this amazing place. Contemporary lake side detached house built 2007 set within The Lower Mill Estate, England's first residential nature reserve, on the shores of Somerford Lagoon a part of The Cotswolds Water Park only 2 hours drive from London. A unique architecturally designed upside down house that Sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, 3 of which are located on the ground floor together with 2 en-suite & 1 Family Bathroom. Two bedrooms have stunning lake views, sunrise is amazing. The accommodation in the 4th bedroom has smaller beds & may not suite large adults. Upstairs features an open plan kitchen, dining, lounge area with amazing uninterrupted views over Somerford Lagoon from the double height glazed feature wall opening onto full width balcony with glazed balustrade. The views from this house are truly amazing, from your seat you can see Kingfisher, Bittern, Grebe, Oyster Catcher, stoat & many land birds. If you want to relax you have access to the Art Spa where you can swim, gym & have beauty treatments which will need to be booked & paid for.

About the Owner

We are a designer couple we have created the interior of our house to reflect this & now want to offer it for other families to enjoy. We have occupied our house since Feb 2007, having purchased in 2004 it took nearly 3 years to build. We enjoy British wild life which was the main driver in purchasing on the Lower Mill Estate. We have enjoyed many years here with our children & grand children.

The property is in a nice location with lovely views across the lake.

However, we were very disappointed with the 4th bedroom which is very small, the beds are 2 Z type folding beds which are narrow and low to the ground and not suitable for adults plus there is no wardrobe and no bedside table. The 3rd bedroom has cabin style twin beds which do not have sprung mattresses and not really ideal for adults and again no wardrobe. The property is only suitable for 4 adults and 4 children.

All bedrooms have very thin white blinds so those rooms facing east are very bright as soon as the sun rises. the lounge windows have no blinds or curtains.

Lower Mill Estate is rather over developed and properties are very close together and parking is difficult as there is only one parking space and the overflow parking is limited.

The leisure facilities are excellent, we particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool.

Owner's Response: We are sorry for your negative comments and confirm that your requested 37% refund is inappropriate as below,criticisms bing more due to style & preference not inadequacy. We also confirm that the damage not reported caused to the shower & hob have been rectified without your loss of damage deposit. 1) 4th Bedroom 2.19M X 3.05M about the average for a 4th bedroom. It is true the beds fold, this gives more flexibility for our guests varied requirements as a cot is often needed here, they are not "Z" beds they have wooden slatted bases & memory foam mattress. As stated in our description they may not be suitable for large adults. The room is equipped with wall hanging space, metal shelved cabinet & small leather bedside table. 2) 3rd Bedroom the beds are full size single beds with 6 large storage drawers for clothing not " cabin beds ". The mattress's are of the foam type again not unusual in most Uk homes. The room is further equipped with wall hanging space, metal shelved cabinet & further chest. 3) The property can accommodate many groups needs from family to a group of 8 adults in 4 bedrooms. 4) Bedroom Blinds - yes the house faces East where you can experience some amazing sunrises across the lake, we have provided light defusing blinds for those who prefer the bedroom windows to be obscured. Lounge - as mentioned in the description our house is an upside down design with the lounge, dining, kitchen space on the 1st floor affording unique views across one for the largest lakes on the water park with the huge amounts of glass, see photos on our web page we wonder why blinds are needed. 5) Lower Mill Estate over developed - Our property is fully detached sitting on a medium sized plot we are between 2 & 3m from our left hand neighbour & separated from our right hand neighbour by a stream the gap being in the order of 12m. Privacy, if needed , is created by landscaping & an agreement to not enter onto the garden areas of other properties each rental group has to agree to the code of conduct. The total area of the LME is approx 550 acres with the 250 houses built in one small corner. It is true that each property has been allocated with one designated parking space, our property is very fortunate with parking as our space is flanked by 2 visitors spaces & the overflow carpark is only 2 mins walk.

We brought the house without knowing anything about the area, once here we found the Cotswolds to be a wonderful place & The Lower Mill Estate to be a very relaxing location where you can walk, kayak, mountain bike or just sit & watch.

Travel:

Approx car travel from London 2 hours 120 miles. Nearest mainline station is Swindon.

Directions from M4 take exit 15 onto A419 towards Swindon.

Continue on A419 in direction of Cirencester.

Distances:

We are located in the Cotswolds Water Park with easy car access to beautiful villages nearest main town is Cirencester & only 35 mins to Cheltenham or 1 hour to Bath.

Further Details:

Lower Mill Estate a unique residential development set within a 450 acre nature reserve, where you can walk, run, relax & canoe ( April to Oct), 2 kayak's included.

The views from this house are truly amazing, from your seat you can see Kingfisher, Bittern, Grebe, Oyster Catcher,
