Charming 3 Bed Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 27-Nov-2016
Cottage in Hackforth, (Swaledale), North Yorkshire, England - Peaceful location in a rural setting, overlooking North Yorkshire's countryside.

Mullion Cottage is a charming 18th Century rural home. Sleeping 6 guests in comfort. Underfloor heating throughout downstairs is ably supported by two log burning stoves, one at each end of the property. Recently renovated, this property has lost none of it's original charm. Solid stone hearths give way to a solid wood floor leading to an open plan kitchen/dining area.

Garden furniture and barbeque are provided. The secluded rear garden and patio area are south westerly facing and trap the last of the sun rays. The main bedroom has exposed beams and an en-suite shower room. The remaining two bedrooms, also with their share of exposed beams share the family bathroom. All bedrooms face the front of the house, catching the morning sun and overlook fields to the hills in the distance. A super location for hiking and biking around the North Yorkshire countryside. Parking for two cars on the drive, with a separate secure garage for bikes.

About the Owner

Gary and Jackie moved into the village in 2004. Archie came along a couple of years later!! Gary, originally a southerner has done his best to convert to all things 'northern', but he still can't get used to the amount of 'head' served on his beer!!

A Superb cottage owned by a lovely couple.

Gary is a fantastic host for whom nothing seems too much trouble.

We've stayed in many cottages over the years, and this has been the best so far, it's been" tastefully" renovated, very well equipped and is very comfortable. The welcome pack is beyond comparison, with anywhere we've stayed to date. We would love to stay again, and, almost certainly will at some point in the near future.

Rob, Ariete, Melissa, Paul, Freddie, Justine. Charley and Bruce.

The perfect host

  • 5 of 5

Gary is a wonderful host and went above and beyond from the very beginning. Helping to collect friends from the train, leaving local delicacies and essentials in the fridge and recommending local walks and restaurants is just the start. The property itself has everything you could want and made for a lovely cosy night in after a wander to the local pub. Highly recommended, we will be back.

A truly stunning and beautiful cottage!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing family break in this stunning cottage. Gary really has thought of everything to make this cottage home from home. It has everything you could wish for from wood burning fires, a large range cooker and even a BBQ so you can enjoy the beautiful garden. Extremely comfortable beds with high end linen, this quality is replicated in the bathrooms with quality fixings and towels. I have already recommended Mullions Cottage to family and friends.

Fabulous cottage for relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Mullions cottage for a long weekend including our two dogs. The cottage is truly and great plac to stay, it has been very recently renovated and the standard of accommodation is superb, five stars all the way. The location is very good with great views from the cottage. If you want a few days or couple of weeks away in our opinion this is one of the nicest places we've been lucky enough to find. You wont be disappointed, lots to do and see in the surrounding countryside.

Location

From the Owner

Gary used to cut the grass at an allotment at the top of the village. One day, the owner of Mullion Cottage was sitting on a chair on the front step simply admiring the view. A conversation with 'this stranger' was started. Gary made himself a promise that if ever the property 'came on the market' he would make every attempt to purchase the property. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it did, so he did!!

Facilities

From the Owner

First and foremost, the cottage has a prominent position within the village and the enjoys wonderful views across the fields. Depending upon the time of year there are scores of little lambs to be seen jumping about. Aside from the A1, (which is currently being upgraded) there is no such thing as traffic up here. Gridlock is when the car in front decides to turn right!!
