About this property

Stunning 3 Bed Cottage

Cottage in Hackforth, (Swaledale), North Yorkshire, England - Peaceful location in a rural setting, overlooking North Yorkshire's countryside.

Mullion Cottage is a lovely 18th century rural home. Sleeping 6 guests in comfort. Underfloor heating throughout downstairs is ably supported by two log burning stoves, one at each end of the property. Dating back to the mid 18th century and renovated in 2015, this property has lost none of it's original charm. Solid stone hearths give way to a solid wood floor leading to an open plan kitchen/dining area.
Garden furniture and barbeque are provided. The secluded rear garden and patio area are south westerly facing and trap the last of the sun rays. The main bedroom has exposed beams and an en-suite shower room. The remaining two bedrooms, also with their share of exposed beams share the family bathroom. All bedrooms face the front of the house, catching the morning sun and overlook fields to the hills in the distance. A super location for hiking and biking around the North Yorkshire countryside. Parking for two cars on the drive, with a separate secure garage for bikes.

Amazing cottage, perfect location
Mullion Cottage was perfect - spacious, clean and well equipped, very close to the A1 and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Gary was an amazing host and the welcome pack was so generous. We will return!

Wonderful stay in North Yorkshire
Fantastic cottage, in wonderful location. Gary couldn’t have been more helpful - was a lovely surprise to arrive to a hamper and fridge of goodies on arrival. Cottage is in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire and we had a great few days exploring the local area in the spring sunshine. Cottage was really well equipped with everything we could have needed and the kids were delighted with the toys and books left out for them. Hope to return in the not too distant future!

Beautiful property in the countryside
We had a wonderful stay the property is great, everything we had hoped for and the welcome basket is a lovely touch. A great location for walking or getting easily on to the A1 The local pub is a 2 minute walk, dog friendly and serves good food.

Great property, great location
Lovely house, nicely presented and spotlessly clean. Owner was very helpful and there was a great welcome pack on arrival. There's so much to see and do in the area. We did a couple of great walks plus I also recommend Wensleydale Creamery, The Herriot museum, Betty's Tea Rooms, Masham Breweries, How Stean Gorge and the amazing Puzzle Corner.

Perfect house in the perfect location
The cottage is delightful and perfect for two couples and a teenager. There was plenty of space, enough bathrooms, comfortable beds and a bit of garden to enjoy. We enjoyed dinner a couple of evenings at the local pub and found so much to do that we all enjoyed. A first but not last visit!

Gary and Jackie moved into the village in 2004. Archie came along a couple of years later!! Gary, originally a southerner has done his best to convert to all things 'northern', but he still can't get used to the amount of 'head' served on his beer!!

Why they chose this property

Gary used to cut the grass at an allotment at the top of the village. One day, the owner of Mullion Cottage was sitting on a chair on the front step simply admiring the view. A conversation with 'this stranger' was started. Gary made himself a promise that if ever the property 'came on the market' he would make every attempt to purchase the property. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it did, so he did!!

What makes this property unique

First and foremost, the cottage has a prominent position within the village and the enjoys wonderful views across the fields. Depending upon the time of year there are scores of little lambs to be seen jumping about.
Aside from the A1, (which is currently being upgraded) there is no such thing as traffic up here. Gridlock is when the car in front decides to turn right!!
