About the property

Cottage in Hackforth, (Swaledale), North Yorkshire, England - Peaceful location in a rural setting, overlooking North Yorkshire's countryside.

Mullion Cottage is a charming 18th Century rural home. Sleeping 6 guests in comfort. Underfloor heating throughout downstairs is ably supported by two log burning stoves, one at each end of the property. Recently renovated, this property has lost none of it's original charm. Solid stone hearths give way to a solid wood floor leading to an open plan kitchen/dining area.

Garden furniture and barbeque are provided. The secluded rear garden and patio area are south westerly facing and trap the last of the sun rays. The main bedroom has exposed beams and an en-suite shower room. The remaining two bedrooms, also with their share of exposed beams share the family bathroom. All bedrooms face the front of the house, catching the morning sun and overlook fields to the hills in the distance. A super location for hiking and biking around the North Yorkshire countryside. Parking for two cars on the drive, with a separate secure garage for bikes.

About gary fullegar

Gary and Jackie moved into the village in 2004. Archie came along a couple of years later!! Gary, originally a southerner has done his best to convert to all things 'northern', but he still can't get used to the amount of 'head' served on his beer!!

gary fullegar purchased this cottage in 2013

Why gary fullegar chose Hawes

Gary used to cut the grass at an allotment at the top of the village. One day, the owner of Mullion Cottage was sitting on a chair on the front step simply admiring the view. A conversation with 'this stranger' was started. Gary made himself a promise that if ever the property 'came on the market' he would make every attempt to purchase the property. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it did, so he did!!

What makes this cottage unique

First and foremost, the cottage has a prominent position within the village and the enjoys wonderful views across the fields. Depending upon the time of year there are scores of little lambs to be seen jumping about.

Aside from the A1, (which is currently being upgraded) there is no such thing as traffic up here. Gridlock is when the car in front decides to turn right!!

Beautiful cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely wood burning fires. Great location.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mullion cottage. Peaceful location and enjoyed the local pub. Very comfortable and cosy place to spend your holiday. We all thoroughly enjoyed the beer and wine Gary left us and not forgetting our cooked breakfast courtesy of Garry. Children loved the bunk beds and fought to be in the top bunk! The only minor niggle being the bedroom with the twin beds which was very small and should in our opinion only sleep one. With twin beds there was not enough space for two adults to share and not enough wardrobe space. Having said that we would not hesitate to return to Mullion and can only thank our hosts for providing us with a great place to stay to enjoy the wonderful countryside of North Yorkshire. Thank you.

Mullion Cottage is fantastic, well equipped and comfortable. A great base for doing so much.

We had a fantastic 10 days staying here. Gary is a great host and made sure we had all we needed. The beds are really comfortable and our girls loved having the 3D TV and such good wifi. Mullion Cottage is very well equipped and spacious, beautifully decorated and homely. There is so much to do around and about too. We plan to come back as soon as we can to enjoy the cottage and area again and do all the other things we couldn't fit in in the time we had. Great having a pub so close too which serves lovely food and is dog friendly.

A beautiful property in a lovely location.

A very relaxing short break away with my hubby and our daughter and son in law. Beautiful cottage/house in a lovely location.

The property is very comfortable with very everything you need and more. The Beer & wine in the fridge was a nice touch, along with bacon, eggs, milk, butter, orange juice, bread, jam & cereal. We have never stayed in a property that provides such goodies. Also nice touches like quality bed linen and towels and very comfortable beds and furnishings. A lovely garden to sit out in which was ideal for our dog because it was enclosed. Our dog particularly enjoyed the bed provided, which I'm going to buy the same for her when we get home.

It would definately be a place I would highly recommend to visit and I hope in the future to return for another chill-out stay, possibly in Autumn/Winter to make the most of the two log burners! Many thanks Gary and Jackie, we wish you continued success with Mullion Cottage.
