Two Charming And Peaceful Rural Properties With Private Pool ( May-September) - Chai Sleeps 2 adults (1 Bedroom) + 2 children (sofa bed)

Overview

Property

Updated: 06-Dec-2016
Cottage and Barn in Manciet, Nr. Condom, Gers, Midi-Pyrenees, France - Set In Sixty Acres Of Its Own Private Pasture And Woodland

Only a day's drive from the Channel ports, Le Bêtet is an oasis of calm and tranquillity nestled in the heart of the beautiful Gascon countryside. Until ten years ago the property was a working farm, and the owners have worked hard to keep the look and feel of the traditional architecture, while installing plenty of 21st century comforts. The Chai is a converted wine-store, offering flexible accommodation for two to four people. Guests can step straight out from the living room onto their own private terrace. The Barn House also sleeps two to four and features a galleried sleeping area with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Both properties have internet and Freeview English Television. A short stroll away across the lawns is a 12 metre swimming pool, heated mid-May to mid-September; while those looking for a longer walk can follow the paths around the woods and fields for over an hour without leaving the property. But peaceful surroundings don’t have to mean there is nothing to do! The local town of Eauze is only fifteen minutes drive away. The ancient capital of Gascony, it features a lovely medieaval square as well as plenty of modern shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The Thursday market is without doubt the best in the area and the summer months offer a seemingly limitless round of festivals, antiques fairs and exhibitions. Food lovers will know that Gascony is the home of foie gras and armagnac, and both can be savoured and bought from local producers. Further afield, Toulouse and Bordeaux are just two hours away and a day trip to the Pyrenees is easily done.

Whilst we don't allow pets, visitors should be aware that there is a dog, cat, chickens (no Cockerels!) and three ponies on the property. A housesitter resides quietly in the main house and is available to help with any queries.

This is a non-smoking property. No smoking is allowed inside or outside the buildings.

About the Owner

We are an English Family who bought Le Betet 11 years ago. Over the years we have loving restored the 16th century farmhouse and two of the originals barns into comfortable gites. It has been our family home for 8 years, but we are currently working in Brussels, so we are able to offer the gites for holiday rentals.

Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We received a warm welcome, despite arriving a couple of hours earlier than planned, with chilled beer and local wine in the fridge and a delicious homemade cake waiting for us.

We stayed in The Barn, which was full of character, well equipped and had plenty of space for our family of four. The quiet location was lovely, but it was only a short drive to the local town and many of the local attractions.

Having use of the pool was a great, especially for my children, who also enjoyed playing table tennis.

We had a lovely time at LeBetet and hope to return in the future.

Wonderful.

A wonderful find. We stayed for two weeks in The Chia, very well equiped and comfortable, surrounded by wildlife from deer walking past in the evenings to red squirrels in the trees by the terrace., great location with many places to visit and local town very close and easy to reach.

Total relaxation in beautiful surroundings

  • 4 of 5

We had a really lovely stay in the Barn House at Le Betet and was exactly as had been described on the website for Owners Direct. Very comfortable and in super

condition. The pool was great and even though it was in a very quiet peaceful area , we were only a little way from the busy town of Eauze. I would recommend Le Betet to anybody

Le Betet was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peaceful local rural scenery. Chai itself was clean and comfortable. I would certainly recommend it to others and have been singing it's praises to my family and friends. can't wait to return.

Facilities

From the Owner

The property is set within its own 27 hectares so peace and quiet is guaranteed! The two gites are set around the farmhouse, yet each has its own privacy. The gardens are large and merge into fields and woodland. The 12m x 6 m pool is heated and you can shade yourself under the walnut trees, or samply fresh figs growing overhead as lie by the pool. You can walk for a hour without leaving the property. However, if you wish to do so, the town of Eauze is only 10 minutes drive away. It has wonderful facilities for a small town, boasting a selection of restaurants, a huge LeClerc supermarket and the best local market in the area.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The Barnhouse features both a mezzanine floor and an exterior balcony. We feel these may be unsuitable for children below the age of six. Outside: Extensive lawns around both properties leading directly onto pasture and woodland. Several outdoor eating areas by properties and by pool. The 12x6 metre pool is heated. Barbecues are provided with both properties. There are a trampoline and swings for children (at parents risk). The farm is home to three ponies, a dozen or so chickens, a dog and a cat.
