A traditional Longère type farmhouse sits on the edge of a village, set in 13 acres of farmland with its own 5 acre lake , situated in a peaceful rural setting, lined with trees. It has rustic charm with oak beams ,open fire place and offers spacious accommodation which is ideal for larger parties and family gatherings.

Situated between the Market Town of Renazè and Historic City of Craon, near to village and La Rincerie recreational lake. There are plenty of historic towns and cities in the local area. La Selle Craonnaise – Village 1kms (3mins) Boulangerie, Bar Tabac cafè. 500 metres from the house there is a lovely track for avid walkers or cyclists to the local towns of Craon or Renazè. La Rincerie – 4kms (5mins), recreational lake. Museum Robert Tatin Château-Gontier 25 Km (30mins). Refuge de l’arche(animal sanctuary) , old town of Château-Gontier, museum. Multiple shopping, bars and restaurants. Châteaubriant 29 Km (35mins). Châteaubriant – Picturesque historic town with several hyper markets, all facilities and weekly market on Wednesday. Laval 32 Km (40mins). A beautiful old historic city ,castle, museum, Mayenne River and a lot more. Echologia ecotourism park 70 hectares, Laverne(10km from Laval). Vitré 34 Km (Approx .40mins). Medieval 17th century town, old castle, museum, gothic church of Notre Dame.

About John Whitty

The house is in a lovely location with very little noise or light pollution .

It is owned by John & Chris and run by John, an avid fisherman who is making his dreams of building a fishing lake become reality.

Following many enjoyable holidays to France, my wife and I visited a beautiful region in the Mayenne where we returned on vacation and by chance came across a beautiful farmhouse that was convenient enough to travel from the UK, to fly or by car for those who enjoy fishing.

We wanted to share with other people who have the same passion & aspiration, to enjoy the house and location and want to get away from it all for perfect relaxation but still conveniently located to all main facilities.

It’s ideal for those who enjoy outdoor living, outdoor sports & for the creative people that love photography and art, they will find stunning scenery and plenty of wild life in the surrounding areas. We have deer that wander to the lake and owls that visit in the night and a pine martin.

What makes this farmhouse unique


Currently the lake is an ongoing project in its infancy which will not be fully developed into a fishing business until 2019 when it will have a standalone gite for rental .The lake contains newly stocked carp to 40lb plus. However should you wish to fish the lake during your visit , it is available only by prior arrangement for exclusive use for an additional cost of €500 per week for a maximum of 4 angler’s .

The property is surrounded by fields and trees with many tranquil places to relax and enjoy the rural atmosphere or take a casual stroll around the lake. Private Pool : 12 x 6 metres (approx. 36 x 18 feet) in ground and graduated, with patio surround. A natural salt pool with the option of being heated at an additional cost, please enquire for details on booking. Sun loungers and seating around the pool. Utility Room: Sink, washing machine, dishwasher, additional fridge, cleaning equipment, outdoor toys. An ideal room for storing wet gear, boots etc. and also useful for storage of bikes and fishing equipment. The back door leads into the garden and pool area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels provided for the house. The house is cleaned on changeover, please leave clean and tidy as you found it on departure. Separate Towels are available on special request for the Pool. Other: Accessibility: Bedroom 1 to 3 with shower, and the W/C are all on one level. The family bathroom and bedrooms 4 and 5 have three steps down. Large Entrance hall with seating ,leads off to a small office offering a selection of books.

A quiet and peaceful rural location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. Pleasant walks and local towns to explore plus the peace and tranquility of the area made it a pleasure to stay. We had all the facilities that we needed in the house together with a pool outside for hot days in the sun.

Quiet and peaceful location

We really enjoyed our week in France and this was our first trip to this area as we normally holiday further South. Found some great restaurants and lovely local wines and cheeses from the market in Laval and La Guerche de Bretagne.

The house was everything that we hoped, lots of typically French features and with plenty of room for us all inside and with two gardens at the rear and front which allowed the kids to run around safely.

It was a quiet and peaceful location and we were all amazed at the wildlife during the evening with bats and owls and we even saw some deer around the lake.

Hope to visit again in the future.

A fantastic relaxing week in a lovely well decorated farmhouse in the rural France.

Perfect for relaxation and a great rural get away to discover the Real France.

Had a lovely week, winding down from my normal busy life.The

House was beautifully decorated with real character, it was fully equipped with everything we needed.

The Local village just a short walk, with a quaint boulangerie, for fresh bread and croissants , with a cafe for a quick coffee or two.

The Supermarkets were just a 10 minute drive away for a larger food shop or discovery further afield were the beautiful picturesque medieval Towns of Laval and Vitre with their Chateau , plenty of good restaurants in surrounding villages.

Had fun at Base de Nautique just 10 mins down the road from the village ,went for a jog around 4km trail around the lake whilst the rest of the group had a stroll ,kids couldn't get enough of the wake boarding which was on site, archery and a little golf course.

A great central base for discovery or relaxation and with more to see for a longer break.

John was the perfect host and was really helpful for places to visit and see.

Quiet and comfortable property in the French countryside

We all had a great holiday. The weather was exceptional and I don't think we spotted a cloud during the whole time.

Really enjoyed the house "Le Bersonniere". It's set in good place and was very quiet, exceptionally so in the evening. We were kept amused by the bats and the Owls which appeared every night as it got dark.

The house was very large and plenty big enough for the 9 of us. Bedrooms, bathroom and lounge all very large and sympathetically restored but with lots of modern touches. Kitchen had everything we needed and we used the back BBQ every night, possibly could do with an additional one in the front garden as well.

It was great to have 3 toilets and 3 showers, saved queuing in the morning. The new pool room which leads into the back garden was also a surprise.

We found loads to do in the local area and especially enjoyed our trip to La Guersche market. Also really handy to be near the large lake as the kids really enjoyed the wake board line which we used on a few occasions.

Hopefully return sometime in the future.

Fantastic holiday in a beautiful location.

Nice quiet location in the countryside but not far away from shops and grocery shopping.

The house was spacious and well decorated with all the amenities that you could want when on holiday with your family. The lounge was large and there were a couple of extra rooms that we didn't even know we're there until we arrived including a reading room and the pool room which opens right out onto the back patio. The new bathroom and shower was also unexpected and saved walking through the house when using the back garden.

The bedrooms were large and easily slept our party.

We made use of the front and back gardens and saw some spectacular sunsets during the evening.

There was acres of space for the kids to run around and lots of wildlife around the lake including owls and deer.

There are some great facilities within a few miles and La Rincerie was a great hit with us all, especially the Wake Boarding.

Hopefully we will return for the peace and quiet in the future.

Great Rural Getaway

This is a fantastic property in a lovely rural location.

The owners are taking their time to make this property suitable for large group holidays.

All of the bedrooms are spacious and beautifully furnished.

The outside area is suitable for relaxing and perfect for outside dining.

Although the pool and fishing lake were not ready at the time of our visit these will be fantastic additions to this holiday experience.

We made full use of the local trail (400m away) for running, walking and biking. Other towns can be reached this way e.g. Laval or Renaze..

The town (400m away) has a local bakery and small bar.

A short drive away is Etang de la Guiardiere which is a stunning lake for walks, picnics and wake boarding.

Many towns nearby are worth visiting by car for example Laval with great shops and local market.

There are five car hire companies located at the Rennes Airport. They are Alamo, Avis, Europcar, National/Citer, Sixt and Hertz.

The Dinard Airport is served by five car hire companies. They are Avis, Europcar, National/Citer/Alamo and Hertz. All are in the airport terminal and are simple to locate. As the airport isn't very big. National/Citer/Alamo share the same desk.

AutoEurope website- the rates are likely to be lower. We recommend that you book this in advance and pick up on arrival.


Mayenne’s 4,500km of rivers and many natural and man-made lakes, make it a fisherman’s paradise with hundreds of first class fishing locations.

Mayenne encourages fishing tourism and has taken measures to welcome not only fishermen but also their families.

You will find sign-posted areas - Mayenne Peche - indicating fishing spots with parking close by and often including picnic areas and disabled access.

For a guide to fishing in Mayenne, including night fishing.

You will need a fishing licence unless fishing on a privately owned river or lake. These are usually obtainable at a local tabac or fishing tackle shop. Local tourist offices should have maps etc.

WALKING including the GR37 (Port-Brillet Forest)

The French trail system is made up of 3 types of path: long distance (GRs) marked in red and white, regional (GRPs) marked in red and yellow and local (PRs) marked in a single colour - usually yellow.

The GR37 crosses Mayenne from east to west from Sille-le-Guillaume in Sarthe to Jublains, Andouille and La Gravelle through to Vitre in Ille-et-Vilaine where it connects with the GR34 for Brittany.

At Andouille, the GR374 branches off towards Ernee and Pontmain and eventually, in the Normandy Maine Regional Park, it connects to the GR22-C leading to Pre-en-Pail. Between Andouille and La Gravelle, the forests and lakes around Port Brillet , where charcoal burners still ply their trade and where you’ll hear the sound of living water.
