About the Owner

Andy, Sue, their 2 children and pet spaniel all live at Yates House in Nidderdale. Though we are not farmers, we love the rural life and are surrounded by beautiful farm land and moor. Yates Cottage sits in our grounds, overlooking pasture, a small lake and the valley beyond. We take great pride in welcoming guests to both our cottage, but as importantly the surrounding area, which really holds something for everyone. When guests come to Yates cottage, we will do what we can to help them have a great holiday.

Superb - as always

  • 5 of 5

This was my 6th visit to Yates Cottage (my second visit this year). It continues to be immaculately maintained and the stunning scenery is always a joy. I am usually very lucky with the weather and even sunbathed on the patio in April and also the first week of my visit in September. In between enjoying the patio I made my usual tours around the beautiful countryside, sampling the great pubs and restaurants in the Dales. Andy and Sue are always the kindest of hosts, and, with their charming family (and dog), make my holidays with them even more enjoyable. See you next year!

Brilliant cottage in a peaceful & beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has been lovingly furnished to a high standard and was very clean. Andy & Sue left an excellent welcome pack which we were very impressed with and there were plenty of logs for the wood burner.

The cottage is in a lovely peaceful location with a small lake nearby and it was great to wake up to see the ducks splashing about on the lake.

There are loads of great places to visit not too far away and I would heartily recommend Yates Cottage as a perfect spot for a week away.

Lovely cottage, lovely place , lovely owners

  • 5 of 5

The property was immaculately clean and very well equipped. Although it is very modern inside the location and surroundings make it feel homely in true Yorkshire tradition. Andy and Sue are great hosts and very giving of their time and knowledge of the area. The welcome pack they supply is first class. Yorkshire has so much to offer and the cottage is well placed to take advantage of it, but conversely if you want a quiet bolthole at the end of a busy day this is it. We hope to be back and this time to find our ideal bolthole too!

The perfect getaway -

  • 5 of 5

The property is in an ideal landscape, well equipped, clean and spacious. A wonderful welcome hamper and everything for the first meal, The manager kindly showed us round and was very helpful. It was a home from home experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Excellent restaurants nearby and plenty to visit in the area.

Child-friendly, lovely property, outstanding hosts

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Yates Cottage and are sorry to be home! Booking was trouble-free and communication was excellent. We arrived to find an extremely generous welcome hamper full of goodies that kept us going throughout the week and were delighted to see that the cottage even surpassed the photos. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable but surprisingly spacious. The hosts were extremely considerate of the fact that we were bringing our two young children and had provided thoughtful extras such as a bed-guard, toilet step and even children's bedding, which our boys were very excited about! (Other items were also offered but not needed). The location is extremely quiet and peaceful (especially with no phone signal or wi-fi) and the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful for miles around, so it was easy to relax, completely switch off and enjoy ourselves. Having said that, there was also plenty to do within a one-hour car journey and we had some super days out. We would certainly be keen to visit both the area and the property again and would have no hesitation in recommending Yates Cottage to others; it is a superb property in a stunning location with outstanding hosts.

Disabled friendly cottage

  • 5 of 5

It was our first time we stayed at Yates Cottage, it is a disabled friendly place, which is what we were looking for as we had a wheelchair with us the outside and the surroundings were all flat for a wheelchair use.

There is a lot of space in the cottage to walk around, all the rooms were nice and spacious, the bathroom was not wide enough to take the wheelchair in but we managed fine, we would definately come to yates cottage again.

Sue and Andy were extremely friendly and a nice family, they helped us out a lot and were there for us if we needed anything.

I would recommend this place for anyone it is worth it, nice quiet place to stay at.

Thank You for everything it is appreciated.

From the Owner

The cottage started life as a stable, being part of the original farm which dates back to the 1750's. Over the years, various owners have developed the stable into a single storey 2 bedroomed home. After we moved to Yates House in 2008, we decided to fully refurbish the cottage as a dedicated holiday let and the work was completed in 2011.
