Farmhouse and gite with large pool. Peaceful location on the Charentes / Dordogne border, close to both Cognac and wine making. Suitable for 2-3 families.

Suitable for two or three families wanting to holiday together in a private environment, Belle Etoile is a luxuriously converted 19th century farmhouse and loft apartment combining rustic charm and contemporary chic. Situated in an unspoilt, peaceful hamlet with stunning rural views across rolling countryside, close to Villebois Lavalette on the Poitou-Charentes/Dordogne border, approximately 25 minutes drive south of Angouleme. During the peak season from June to September we only let the property out for exclusive use on a weekly basis, however off peak and subject to availability we will consider enquiries for smaller parties wishing to use one or other of the properties.

Absolutely fantastic... Sadly we were only staying for 36 hours but so wish it could have been 36 days or even weeks. The house and gardens are just perfect for either a small or large group with amazing attention to detail at every opportunity. Looking forward to our next visit to enable us to do a little more discovering.



We were completely blown away by the view from the garden of Belle Etoile: a vast field of beautiful sunflowers and in the distance trees and rolling hills. As befits a summer home, the property has a lovely barbecue area and entertaining space and a fully enclosed pool of ample size with plenty of loungers for sun bathing alongside a comfortable seating area for sipping chilled Rose whilst enjoying the view. The main house is very cosy and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen and a good-sized sitting room in which to relax after dinner. The property has a gite next to the main house, which has recently been modernised and includes two double bedrooms with new en suite bathrooms. One of the barns has been converted into a games room which, amongst other things, houses a pool table, table football and a table tennis table. The surrounding villages are pretty and very French with some lovely restaurants. There is also a conveniently located hypermarket a short drive away. I would not hesitate to recommend Belle Etoile as a home from home and we will definitely be returning.



We stayed here in October half term and had incredible weather which meant we could enjoy the amazing outside area at Belle Etoile. My husband and I swam in the pool (we are quite brave unlike our fair weathered friends we were holidaying with !). We had all our meals outside enjoying the spectacular views. The evenings became cooler so we spent these inside house which is extremely well equipped. It is obvious that the owners use this as their second home as there is everything you need to put together a meal for friends and family. The bedrooms are really nicely furnished and we will return again this year if we can !



We had a FANTASTIC two weeks at Belle Etoile. It was everything we dreamed of! The property is stunning. The house is perfect and had everything we needed. The views from the house are stunning along with the pool and garden. Great location with lots to do and visit. We took our bikes and did lots of cycle rides through beautiful french villages. We were a party of 12 (6 adults and 6 kids) and we all had a brilliant time. We will definitely be back! Thank you x

Stunning farmhouse in the countryside of Bordeaux

Spent a few amazing days down at Belle Etoile to celebrate Gareth's birthday a couple of weeks ago. The setting is beautiful and the house is spectacular. Loads of room and given that there were 14 people around the place, it still felt spacious and open. The pool is great, the pétanque court in excellent condition and with the addition of the new fire pit, we were able to keep ourselves amused and warm long into the night. Bike hire was excellent, golf course was a huge amount of fun and the woodland restaurant divine. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

The most idyllic setting and beautiful house.

We had a wonderful time in a fabulous house in the middle of the French countryside.The house has been upgraded to have fantastic facilities, great showers ands bathrooms with a very well equipped kitchen.

We would definitely return in the future.

Fabulous Accommodation - Beautiful Setting

A charming period farmhouse in a beautiful rural location with amazing views across open countryside. With its many stunning bedrooms, it is the perfect place to stay with a large group of friends and family. The kitchen is spacious and homely with every need catered for and became the main hub of activity and socialising on the rare occasions that we weren't enjoying the outdoors. We visited in October and the weather was so warm that it was fanastic to still be sitting outside at midnight drinking and chatting. The 20m heated pool is a real bonus, set away from the house with a large seating & sunbathing area to the side. The surrounding area is very picturesque providing great cycling terrain and we even managed to squeeze in a round of golf. This is a trully wonderful escape, I will certainly be visiting again.

Fantastic setting, beautiful farm house

A lovely setting for a very relaxing holiday. The facilities at this lovely French farmhouse are outstanding. It's great to go to a place where so much thought and care has been put into making your stay so comfortable. There's also loads to do in the surrounding towns. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Stunning pool & terrace!

Beautiful traditional stone house situated off the beaten track in a peaceful hamlet, not far from a bigger village; locals seem to be the friendliest people in France. Lovely clean rooms, high quality interiors, loved the bath/shower room. We were in a party of 4 adults and 4 children in the main house, and 5 teenagers in the annex, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The piece de resistance was the fenced heated pool which has broad steps, saline cleaning system, 20m swim lane - so you can actually swim - and a large sun terrace. We ended up staying an extra 2 days.

Fantastic flexible quality accommodation

We really enjoyed our stay at Belle Etoile, the property is excellently fitted out with a great family kitchen and outdoor dining space. The listing description is very accurate and the property was very clean.The children really enjoyed the pool which is fenced off for peace of mind we will definitely return with so much space on site there was little need to venture too far.

We bought Belle Etoile in 2013 as somewhere to enjoy holiday times with family and friends, and we could not be more delighted with our second home. The local welcome we have received has been quite overwhelming, but the property and its peaceful location with stunning views across the rolling countryside ensure complete relaxation from the moment of arrival. If you have stayed at Belle Etoile before under its previous ownership we hope we can encourage you back and that you will be pleased with the changes and improvements we have made during our brief tenure.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate large all adult or single-sex groups, or pets of any sort. Outside: Aside from the unique solar-heated swimming pool with its 20m length-lane and sun terrace, the on-site facilities include a dedicated flood-lit petanque court (or boulodrome), and the additional games barn contains a full size table-tennis table, pool table, table-football and a dart board. The pergola for al-fresco dining is complemented by a charcoal chimenea barbecue and the fire pit. There is a netball hoop, croquet set and assortment of garden games and an adjoining paddock in which to play them, with swings for smaller children in the garden and a hammock to be hung from the walnut tree. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble-drier. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided. Pool towels available for a supplement. The property is cleaned, and the linen and towels are changed, at the beginning of each rental. For fortnight bookings an interim clean and change can be arranged for an additional charge.
