Cottage in Matlock, Nr. Matlock Bath, Derbyshire Dales, England - Quiet Location Yet Minutes To All Local Amenities And Attractions

Beautiful interior designed cottage with lovely antiques and art. The property is the owners holiday home too therefore appointed to the highest standard, and not merely a "holiday rental!" The cottage is in a fabulous location being 10-20 minutes from Chatsworth House - Bakewell - Matlock - Matlock Bath - Carsington Water and many other beautiful Peak District villages and sights. Very high standard.

About the Owner

Hi we're Paul & Hilary Oates. We originally bought Thatch Cottage as a bolt hole for ourselves and being busy business people decided to let the Cotrage to careful guests, as the property is furnished and decorated to the standard for ourselves rather than just a holiday let. We regularly visit the cottage and maintain it to a very high standard.

Absolutely fabulous home from home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous long weekend in the cottage with our 2 children (ages 1 and 3). It is a really beautiful cottage, furnished to a very high standard with all the bits and pieces you would expect and plenty more too. There were lots of lovely touches (flowers, soaps, biscuits, coffee to name a few) and the beds were really really comfortable. The front garden is lovely for sitting in and the back whilst plain was perfect for our 2 to tear about in. Downsides were that we were travelling late and night and found the property difficult to find in the dark. We also struggled to fit the travel cot in as space around the beds is a bit limited (only in so far as fitting a travel cot in not for general use) but we just moved the bed over and it was fine. The other thing to be aware of if travelling with young children is that this is the owners own holiday property and as such is filled with lovely knick knacks, we moved a few out the way but had to be watching all the time to be sure nothing would be broken. The stairs are also pretty open and there is a step down into the kitchen. We managed all of this fine with our two so it is possible. An addition we would have liked to find would have been local information, such as attractions, walks, maps and recommended eating places but we found all this out easily from the tourist information at Matlock train station. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable home to holiday in and would definitely stay there again.
