About the Owner

After taking early retirement we moved to Berrynarbor, where I maintain the property's and my wife runs a local Preschool.

In 2003 whilst on holiday and out for a walk we first came across two old stone barns which had never been inhabited, apart from one that was a milking parlour. We bought them and with the help of our daughter who is an architect we have converted them into two beautiful homes.Today we live in one and rent out The Old Dairy as a fully modernised holiday home.

“Lovely country home”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 6 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We have just spent a very enjoyable week at The Old Dairy.

It is spacious, open plan, and very well equipped; the furnishings are very comfortable, so that it quickly becomes a home from home. The configuration of the bedrooms is ideal for a family group of two or three generations, or mix of couples and singles in a group of friends. If the weather closes in there are plenty of books, games and DVDs to keep everyone amused.

Owners Trevor & Val live next door so that any queries can be quickly resolved (although we didn't have any). They were on hand to welcome us - their friendliness and the plateful of home-made scones and cream/jam were much appreciated after the long journey.

It is an ideal position, being in quiet countryside but within a couple of miles of the North Devon coast and the large town facilities of Ilfracombe. There are plenty of walks and places to visit without travelling too far, and the village down the road (literally down the road) can be recommended for its pub and community shop for essential supplies.

“Wow what a beautiful cottage”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 10 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We spent a week at the The Old Dairy and it was a beautiful property in fantastic area. There were three generations and the open plan of the property was ideal. It was immaculately clean and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The dresser has games galore inside and there was also a selection of DVDs. We stayed in the Autumn and it was lovely and snug but would love to visit in the summer to make the most of the outside. Trevor and Val the owners are very helpful and I can't wait to visit again as a great time was had by all.

Ideal for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

The Old Dairy is spacious, very well furnished and equipped, extremely clean, well-maintained, quiet and relaxing.

There is plenty of space for parking and a nice garden with good seating area.

The owners were very friendly and always helpful. Tea and scones on arrival was perfect.

Lovely beaches, plenty of walks, good golf course, swimming pool, childrens attractions, all within a few miles.

Booking through Owners Direct was very easy and efficient in every way.

All in all a very enjoyable holiday for the family and it certainly met our expectations!

Spacious property in a great area

  • 4 of 5

SIx of us stayed for a week at the Old Dairy and really appreciated the rural location. Its at the top of a steep hill and we walked and cycled from the front door. The rooms are large and comfortable and we had all we needed. Great to have 3 bathrooms and showers! The supplies (things like washing up liquid) were minimal, but adequate. The gas fire in the lounge made it very warm in the evenings, although it is a very long room with a tiled floor (with under floor heating) and in our view would benefit from a little more home touches and furniture to soften the barn feel. The kitchen area was a prime place to sit and chat and play scrabble and eat! Loved the filter coffee machine and there are lots of books around the house. There are lots of lovely places to visit around the cottage and we'd recommend WatersMeet, Woolacombe and Croyde. There are two friendly cats that live in the little boiler shed next to the property and the welcome from the owners in the nearby house was warm and they left us to get on with our holiday in private but were there if we needed anything. We'd really recommend staying here! We were three lads between 15 and 21, mum and dad and a Granny. Berrynarbor village is very quaint and the village store has lots of good supplies and a friendly welcome. We bought eggs from the farm by putting money in the honesty box. You need a car to get around or you need to be very fit for all the hills!

Location

From the Owner

We had been holidaying in the area for 20 years and loved the location, we wanted to move somewhere that was large enough for our family to visit with lots of garden and room for parking, as they all enjoy surfing and outdoor activities, we enjoy the wonderful walks scenery and magical charm of North Devon and Exmoor. Berrynarbor is a charming picturesque village with a lovely 500 year old pub and a very well stocked village shop. We are just a 10 minute walk away from Watermouth Harbour where in the early 1980's the childrens T.V. series " Famous Five on an Island" was filmed.
