Located on the beach at Bigbury On Sea, our two bedroom, two bathroom, first floor luxury Apartment has all the ingredients necessary for a perfect Beach holiday, not to mention stunning views. The Apartment has been completely redecorated/renovated and redesigned to our specifications and offers you a luxurious base for exploring all that the area has to offer. We have a private onsite Leisure Club which comprises of an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym for which you have complimentary access during your stay. Additionally there is an onsite coffee shop/bar offering snacks and drinks throughout the day and early evening. This is a Saturday to Saturday let, with occasional exceptions in low season (Nov- Feb), where short breaks can be considered

"As soon as I stepped through the door I could not help but notice the attention to detail was exceptional. The apartment is decorated and maintained to the highest possible standard, whilst saying this, it also felt very homely, the beds were a dream to sleep in and to wake up and take your breakfast overlooking the wonderful views of the beach and Burgh Island was truly magical. The accommodation is better than in the 5* hotel, attention to detail is superb, bedding and beds are super comfortable, the whole place oozes style and quality! Very impressive set up at Apartment 16 - inside & out. For a family looking for a 'bucket & spade' holiday with all the convenience of home - this certainly fitted the bill.

The apartment is high-spec self-catering & has everything you need. The kids made great use of the wide selection of DVDs & games.

The site facilities of the pool & cafe were an added bonus and well used.

The location of the apartment on the beach and overlooking Burgh Island was a real treat.

Only hiccup for out 7yr old was not being able to get the PlayStation to work!

We loved it & would happily return.

What a lovely apartment!

Beautiful apartment in a lovely location. It is very well equipped and beautifully clean. We found a chocolate cake awaiting us when we arrived. That was lovely. The beds were very comfortable. The flats tend to attract families so it is quiet at night. Ringing the telephone at Reception before you arrive is a good idea as they will give you the code to get into the car park.

The kitchen is very fully equipped with all the latest appliances. The downside of this is that you do need to read the instruction manuals provided for the oven/grill and for the washer/dryer. (I never did find out how you were meant to open the door when you had paused the dryer.) We could have used a sieve (to rinse rice) and a washing-up brush.

Would we come here again? Absolutely!

Beautiful apartment with stunning views

Our third stay at this wonderful apartment. The apartment is done to a very high standard and has everything we needed and more. The location is amazing (just 20 yrds from a lovely sandy beach) and the views are simply stunning! As always we pre-ordered our groceries online to arrive the same day we did. This saved us the hassle of having to take a trip to the supermarket (Kingsbridge) with the children and meant that we could make the most of every moment of our break and the fantasic weather we had! As we have visited the local area many times previously, most of our week was spent relaxing on the beach and enjoying the sunshine while the children played in the water with the body boards (borrowed from the appartment!) - thank you Wendy we all had a lovely time!

Spectacular!

Our second stay at Number 16 and it is still immaculate. I am amazed at the quality and standards of furnishing, decor, hospitality and cleanliness of this property.

The listing and pictures are completely accurate and Wendy, the owner, goes above and beyond in providing everything a guest could wish for (including the welcoming chocolate cake!).

We like to bring my elderly mother here as there is a lift to the apartment (although about 6 steps with good handrails outside) and she is thoroughly content to sit and watch the tide, water activities and people on the beach while my husband and I walk the coast path directly outside. (We especially like to walk along the cliffs to Challaborough 10 minutes away for Friar Tuck's fish and chips!)

I would not hesitate to recommend Number 16 to anybody and look forward to our return next year.

Inviting, cosy, luxurious, home from home

This our second visit to this property in Bigbury, we’ve booked for next year again whilst there as we love it so much. The property is stunning, spotlessly clean, equipped with everything you need and more. Amazing views, you will not believe the views until you see them for yourself. You can relax in the apartment on its wonderful window seat looking out over Burgh Island and the causeway or get active and use the leisure centre (pool, gym sauna and bar; great food too), go for long walks in beautiful countryside, hire a kayak, paddle board or surf board from the surf shop located on the lower car park. There's a great café there too that offers the normal beverages and good food. The apartment is just stunning, gorgeous décor and furnishings, I particularly love the denim touch, along with gorgeous linen's. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, we, as did our children slept so well and what with the black out blinds, we had no early rising this holiday; unless you set your alarm, which of course we never did. We had a gorgeous chocolate cake to greet us with a pint of milk already in the fridge for our first cup of tea upon arrival, very welcome indeed. If you have little ones, everything is there for them, cot, high chair and even some little gifts left on their beds. The kitchen is high spec, every utensil, mixer, saucepan, oven roasting trays, cake tins, picnic accessories, you name it and its there. A Tassimo coffee machine (or similar), I don't normally drink coffee but had to try the cappuccino, delicious and so easy. We went into Southsands and walked around to Northsands for lunch at the "Winking Prawn"; this place is a must try, you can book to be sure of a table but it wasn't too busy when we arrived. Really quaint, pretty place right on the sea front, lovely atmosphere and good food. For the children they have a dress up box, colouring books and pens, games, all sorts. Walked from here into Salcombe, lovely walk. You pass some amazing properties. Its beautiful, lovely shops, great pubs, crabbing, looking at lots of boats, sitting on a bench and just watching harbour life get on with its day. You can catch the little ferry boat back to Southsands and then jump on the sea tractor to get to shore (always exciting for little ones, you can take buggies and fold down prams on there too). We went to the aquarium at Plymouth, not far away which was very interesting and worth a visit. All in all, I cannot recommend this property enough.

Location

From the Owner

Our Apartment is located on a stunning beach with fabulous view over to the iconic Burgh Island. The outlook is forever changing and moving as the tides flow in and out cutting us off from the island twice a day. The unique Sea Tractor can take you across to the Island at high tide and adds to the sense of adventure. The South West coastal path is close by and provides scenic coastal views for miles and miles. Leave the car behind and enjoy Nature at its very best!

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Our Apartment is located right on the beach. There is an allocated car parking space for your car in our private car park. You can walk across the beach at low tide to Burgh Island. At high tide there is the Sea Tractor providing unique access to the island for exploration.

Travel:

Nearest airport: Exeter - 1 hour away

Nearest railway: Totnes - 40 mins, Plymouth 40 mins or Exeter 1 hour.

By Car: Leave the M5 at Exeter (junction 31) and take the A38 towards Plymouth for 26.3 miles to the Wrangaton Cross junction signed Ermington/Modbury/Yealmpton. Follow the A3121/A379 for 7.6 miles to Modbury. Drive through Modbury and one mile further on, at Harraton Cross, turn right onto the B3392 to Bigbury. Keep on the B3392 for 4.8 miles to Bigbury On Sea.

Distances:

Nearest town is Modbury - approx 6 miles. Kingsbridge is 10 miles away, which is where to find Tescos. Dartmouth offers a great day out and is approx 45 mins away. Also Sainsburys and Lidl are located there. The well known coastal town of Salcombe is 12 miles away and offers good shopping, great restaurants, crabbing, beaches and plenty more. The nearest small shop for provisions is at St Annes Chapel which is a 5 min drive from our Apartment. For Burgh Island, simply walk across the beach!

We have taken great care to ensure that every little detail has been thought of - from luxury bedlinen and towels to hand-wash and lotion (created in Devon), to a telescope for watching the horizon, to a Tassimo coffee machine, PlayStation, DVD player, TV's in the both bedrooms, latest DVD's, a juicer, smoothie maker.... the list goes on. Come rain or shine, there is always plenty to do and keep you occupied or simply sit on the window seat and watch the world go by!

There is a heated indoor pool with jacuzzi, sauna and gym in the members Leisure club which you have complimentary access to during your stay. This is located onsite along with the coffee shop/bar. Please note that this is not open to the general public and is members only Utility Room: N/A Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxury Lexington towels and white cotton bed linen are included for your one week stay.
