Living in the villa Doclevita is like stepping into an extraordinary "jet set" vintage film set. Imagine Bardot tanning on the rooftop terrace, Sophia making Spaghetti Bolognese in the kitchen, Mastroiani splashing in the waves on the beach below. Lean up against the copper finished circular wet bar in the lounge and ask for your martini shaken, not stirred. More than a great holiday, living in this villa is a unique experience in the history of luxury, and all completely surrounded and immersed in the breathtaking views of the lake from every angle.

The house is large, sleeping 12 people in 5 bedrooms. There is air conditioning in the lounge and dining area, and in three of the five bedrooms. The master bedroom is a suite, with entry atrium with wardrobe, an ensuite bathroom, and a very large open space bedroom fronted with glass walls onto the lake view, AC, and doors to the terrace. There is a queen sized double bed as well as a double sofa bed. Beside the master bedroom is the "kids" room, with two single beds, AC, and again glass walls and doors to the lakeside terrace. The third bedroom is another suite, with double bed, ensuite bathroom, AC, and glass walls and door to the lake terrace. The fourth bedroom is yet another suite, with views onto the side garden, double bed, and ensuite bathroom. The fifth bedroom is upstairs by the common areas, two singles. The living areas and 3 of the 5 bedrooms have floor to ceiling glass walls with doors onto lake front terraces, for unrestricted enjoyment of the views both inside and out. There are 4 bathrooms, 3 are en-suite and the fourth is a powder room (toilet only) for use in the common areas upstairs. mid-week light housekeeping, Sky satellite TV, WIFI, all linens, towels, and pool towels, and air conditioning is included in the price.

The main living areas of the house consist of a large open space dining and lounge area, completely fronted by glass walls with doors onto the lake front terrace and stunning views. The living and dining areas are distinguished by a fabulous copper covered circular wet bar, with mini bar fridge, that separates one area from the other. The copper of the bar is recalled by the copper finishings on the giant open fireplace which is the home of the big flat screen HD tv in the lounge. There is seating for 8 people in the lounge, and 10 at the crystal topped dining table.

The kitchen is spacious, with a lot of cupboard space, and made for cooking for large groups, with double fridge and freezer, two hobs, oven, dishwasher, nespresso machine, and all the usual small appliances (microwave, kettle, french press coffee maker, toaster, etc). Behind the kitchen is a hallway with a small bed room to the side, with two single beds. There is a dedicated utility room with washing machine underneath the house, accessed by the stair that leads to the beach, and in this grotto, there is also a fitness area with some gym equipment.

Outside, the lakeside of the house is completely surrounded by terraces, and the back (or not lakeside) is the barbecue party area, with a very large built in gas barbecue and seating under the porch roof for 20 people or more.

The entire roof of the house is a furnished rooftop terrace with an open vista of the entire lake before you. Loungers, sunbeds, umbrellas make this a perfect spot for soaking up the sun. The rooftop terrace is connected to the pool area by a bridge, so go from the terrace straight into the extra large pool.

The pool has two diving boards, a high and a normal, with a diving area depth of 3.5 meters. The pool also has a shallow for kids area only 60cm deep. By the pool there is also a playground area with swings and climbing apparatus for the kids. Behind the pool area is a private tennis court. The court is in poor repair, so good for playing for fun, but not for real tennis players. Racquets are provided!

The gardens are built on terraced levels that reach right down to the lake, with a stair to carry you straight to the beach gate that opens directly onto the beautiful pebble beach. The gardens are tended daily by the custodian, and offer a beautiful and harmonious combination of flowers, shrubs, shady trees, and lawns.

At the entrance to the estate, by the private gates, there is a small custodian cottage. There is a custodian here who is responsible for the constant care of the garden and three times weekly pool cleaning. He is available for any repairs or to resolve any problems you have in the house, and his services are included in the rental price.

Villa Dolcevita is located in a private residential community, about 1.5km from the Port of Moniga (where you can get ferries to any other port on the lake). It is also about 1.5km from the historic centre of Moniga, as well as the local shopping mall with supermarkets, shops, and even a local pub that becomes a disco on weekend nights. A famous local trattoria, le Tre Santi, is in easy walking distance from the villa.

Amazing Place to Create a Renewed Sense of Family

The whole family, grandma & grandpa, mom & dad, and all the kids, got together for our summer holiday in this absolutely magical spot. The lake

views are magnificent, and the direct beach access and waterfront location

are amazing. The Villa Dolcevita was a unique experience in

nostalgic luxury. I really felt like a Bond girl 'grandma', leaning on

the copper covered circular wet bar in the lounge, sipping my multi-olived lightly stirred martini (American style - the ladies found me some gin)!

While preserved nostalgia was ever-present, the bedrooms are all newly furnished with modern beds and comfy mattresses, As a lifelong collector of fine antiques, I just loved the vintage décor combined with all of the modern comforts.

The pool is enormous, with both a regular and a high diving board, and the

expansive rooftop sunning terrace, with splendid lake view, was a great

spot to relax and read a book...and of course sip a delicious martini while reflecting on just how amazingly lucky I am to be here. There is also a private tennis court which is not for the professional but definitely a great place to create inter-generational memories!!

Maybe I am saying too much, but you can see we were thrilled to be living this life even if just for a short vacation visit. The location is good too -- very private, big and beautiful garden, but just a short walk to the pizzeria in a little hub, perfect for "apperitivo" and pizzas with the kids in the evenings, and the lovely medieval historic center of Moniga is just a couple of minutes by car (about 20 minutes on foot!). And did I mention the nearby markets in different towns on different days - what fun!

We also had a ball at Gardaland. This was the Italian version of our mandatory family excursion to Disneyland. And the Holiday Garda folks made us feel like visiting Royalty. They were fabulous with everything, from organising our excursion to Gardaland, with minivan and driver, to an absolutely unforgettable meal in a lakeside restaurant taken there in our own private boat with captain.

Definitely will go again -- and, as you have probably guessed, will recommend to all of my friends!

Moniga del Garda is a small town on the West shoreline of Lake Garda, with a picturesque harbour and a massive castle on the hill above the town, which you can see on the right as you drive into the town. You can walk inside the castle and explore the medieval architecture, like stepping back in time, but with a modern twist -- people still live in the castle, and inside there are actually streets with houses! The harbour area is particularly picturesque with a wide expanse of (pebble) beach, and a ferry port where you can get a ferry to any other destination. Desenzano, Salo, Portese, San Felice and Gardone are nearby.
