The Old School House is situated in a quiet, leafy lane, adjacent to the beautiful 1,000 acre Trelowarren country estate and close to the Helford River. Built in the 1870's as a school for boys, the house has been tastefully renovated to provide interesting and spacious accommodation. 4 bedrooms, Sleeps 7 plus travel cot.

During the off peak season we offer short break holidays and are also flexible on arrival and departure dates.

Discounts are available for small parties.

Owner Jane Humby:

We have owned the Old School House since the mid 1980's. When we bought the house it was only a shell, four walls, no floor and no roof!

Over the last twenty five years we have put a lot of time and dedication into bringing the house back to its former glory.

We have had many lovely family holidays at The School House and have great memories throughout the years.

We hope that your holiday holds as many special memories.

The house is set in a beautiful tranquil location, with woodland and rolling fields right on the doorstep. The small village is equipped with all your daily needs, a good local shop and an even better local pub, with award winning locally sourced food. There is an abundance of wildlife and local walks with stunning scenery.

The house is conveniently placed within easy driving distance of many of Cornwall's most stunning areas and local attractions. Beautiful beaches are just a ten minute drive away.

What makes this cottage unique

The house is conveniently located only a five mile drive away from Helston, a famous small market town. Helston can provide you with all your day to day grocery needs with two large supermarkets, petrol stations and small independent shops. Back in Mawgan the pace of life is much slower, you will see the pheasant every morning in the garden saying hello.

The house offers very spacious accommodation spread over two living rooms and a large kitchen on the ground floor.

The secluded garden offers a huge expanse of beautifully kept lawns and the woods are a great place for kids and adults alike to have a great adventure.

Notes:
Outside: Outside, the very sheltered, South facing garden, is laid to lawn with mature shrubs and trees and is bounded by a stream. The stream is behind a stone wall where it runs close to the house, but is accessible further down the grounds, where it leads into private woodland. There is a shed with garden furniture and a BBQ, plus a rotary clothes line. There is private woodland owned by the house which can be accessed by the side of the property. Perfect for walks and adventures. Utility Room: Ironing board and iron, standing clothes dryer, shoe cleaning kit, coat hooks and hoover. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The ground floor and the landing is heated by night storage heaters and the bedrooms by programmable electric heaters. Heating and electricity is included in the cost. Bed linen, tea towels and towels for personal use are supplied. Other: The second sitting room is attractively furnished with leather sofas, another open fire and French doors onto stone steps leading down to the garden. This room has a small flatscreen LED TV and a music centre. All ground floor rooms have beamed ceilings.

Wonderful cottage, wonderful location !

We (4 adults and 2 toddlers) had a lovely holiday, the cottage is great , a home away from home. It is very well stocked and is equipped with all you might need.

The old school house is located on the outskirts of Mawgan ( a great location and good place to base yourself whilst staying on the Lizard peninsula as only minutes from beach, helford river, seal sanctuary and many other attractions) but only minutes walk from the village shop and pub!

Jane the owner, was very friendly and helpful, and emailed us a list of good places to go, advice about pre booking certain pubs etc....

Needless to say we will be back.....
