Our location is an old hill sheep farm which is being converted to a nature reserve, to encourage wild life to return. So far we have rescue battery hens living free range and a number of rescued cats. The rural location of these properties makes them an ideal base for those of you wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big city. From your doorstep there are numerous walks from a gentle stroll to the more arduous walks in Macclesfield Forest. We welcome one well behaved dog per lettings.

1 bedroom apartment, sleeps 2. Kitchen: Fully equipped modern kitchen facilities include a full sized gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Small lounge: Has comfortable seating, colour TV, DVD player and wood burning stove. Bedroom: Sleeps two in a comfortable bed, bed linen is provided. Bathroom: WC, wash basin and walk in shower cubicle with electric shower. We provide bath and hand towels at no extra charge. Internet connection and logs for the wood burner are all included in the rental price.

We were looking for somewhere with walking on the doorstep and this could be achieved from here. Teggs Nose Country Park was behind the farm and easily accessible, from there the walking possibilities were endless. Further afield you have the High peaks and the Cat and Fiddle pass which offered an array of walking for all abilities.

The farm is quiet with cats wandering around and chickens next to the flats, the light pollution was minimal and the night sky was visible quite easily. there is a business and a couple of other properties on the site so please consider this.

The flat is well appointed and the description doesn't really allude to the fact that you don't need to take tea towels, cleaning stuff, dish tabs, tea, coffee, oil and the usual provisions that someone you find you have to take with you. There was also fresh milk and eggs on arrival.

The flats are quite cosy and the kitchen living area a little cramped, the furniture is comfortable and there is a wood burner for the cold nights but the heating was so hot it wasn't needed. Wood is available for free and there is a laundry room but I wasn't shown where it was and there was no indication either as to its whereabouts. The welcome book is quite informative about the local area and expectations of you as a guest, they flat owners are very keen for guests to adhere to their Eco Ethos and recycle and not to use any harmful chemicals. The bathroom was a good size and there was an ante room where you can store your shoes, coats and outdoor gear.

Superfast broadband and a phone accepting incoming calls

communication was good, well appointed, reasonably clean but with an open fire, in a barn it was quite dusty with spiders webs in places and in my personal opinion could have been cleaner. I would recommend this apartment and is priced about right.

Within the area you will find plenty to keep you occupied, whether it is looking around Country Houses and mansions or enjoying more active outdoor pursuits.

  • Notes on accommodation: Both properties have access to a washing and drying room. Washing detergent is also supplied. We ask that all tenants follow our policy to use recycling bins. No smoking is permitted on or around the properties. We will accept one well behaved dog in both properties. Outside: There is a small grassed area with a picnic bench, which is shared by both apartments. There is an abundance of wildlife on your doorstep. If you are lucky you may be able to see a badger or fox strolling past the apartment. The hens are rescues form battery farms and welcome visitors bearing gifts of various greens. The cats around the property are also rescues and most love nothing more than to be fussed. We have a number of bird feeding stations which attract a large variety of birds. The recently erected bug house and upside down trees attract a lot of interest.
