About Chris and Jayne

Lavender cottage is owned by Chris and Jayne who live in Derbyshire.

We first came across The Bay in 2011 after taking a day off work to walk our German short-haired pointer along the beach from Hunmanby Gap to Filey to have some of the town's famous fish and chips. On seeing The Bay we fell in love with the place straight away.

We bought the cottage in late 2011 and have added many extras to make the cottage a real home from home and to ensure your holiday is as enjoyable as possible.

We visit the cottage as often as we can to escape everyday life as it's a great place to relax and unwind. We hope you enjoy the comfort of our cottage and enjoy the superb facilities that The Bay has on offer.

If you have any questions please get in touch.

Chris and Jayne purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Chris and Jayne chose Filey

We know the area well from family holidays and we've had many lovely times visiting the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and roaming the surrounding moors. The area has something for everyone from stunning scenery and glorious stretches of sand to family-friendly seaside resorts and tiny fishing villages.

The cottage is new and modern but with a traditional look that blends into the surroundings. It provides a peaceful retreat with plenty of on-site facilities. The beach, wild flower meadow, lakes and facilities such as a leisure centre, swimming pool and pub are all a short walk away.

The location is within easy access to Filey, the North Yorkshire Moors, bustling towns of Scarborough and Bridlington and a bit further afield Whitby and York.

What makes this cottage unique

In all seasons it's a great place to get away from it all. It has a very relaxed feel but there is plenty to do if that's what you prefer.

A stroll along the beach, dip in the indoor heated swimming pool, and drink in the pub are all a short walk away. The Bay is a safe family friendly environment with 24 hour on-site security.

The cottage is in a great location with open aspect and sunny terrace. It's well decorated, furnished and has everything you need. We've also left a selection of books, DVDs, Wii, board games and beach accessories for our guests to use.

“The Beast from the East”….

  • 5 of 5

Where do you go when the winter winds blow?

Sanctuary, which in this case that’s Lavender Cottage at The Bay. We expected some bad weather and couldn’t wait to arrive at the cottage, which we have visited many times.

Knowing that once we were installed in this glorious relaxing, peaceful cottage the snow could fall, that’s after I’d stocked up on supplies from the local COOP in Hunmanby. I’ve said this before it is so comfortable and fitted to an extremely high standard. Jayne & Chris the owners have set a very high benchmark for the other holiday lets to reach. A bit like Torvill & Dean…. (Sorry, couldn’t resist it)

Owner's Response: Many thanks Nigel & Kathryn for taking time to write another review. It was such a shame the weather was so cold for your visit but we are glad this did not deter you from enjoying your stay again at the cottage. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Chris & Jayne

A Wonderful Break

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Lavender Cottage before, we had a lovely time then and had a lovely time now. We were booked for a week which turned out to be full of snow but the cottage was really cosy and the holiday complex was kept clear and open even the swimming pool. The walks along the beech were bracing but well worth it - and we had some sunshine! Thanks to Chris and Jayne for their communications, everything was very straight forward and easy. We can definitely recommend a holiday here.

Beautiful, well positioned, perfectly equipped cottage in a prime location close to the beach 10/10!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week but wished we’d stayed longer! We had everything we could need!

The cottage is comfortable, clean and very well equipped.🏡🛁🛌🖼🃏🎮📀🎞🎶📖

We took the pets and they enjoyed their stay too. ❤️🐾🐾 The pond and beach close by made for perfect walks.🦆🌊🏖We didn’t take kids but could see there was plenty for them to do both in and out of the cottage. Also the safety gates, twin room, bath and shower and layout were perfect for a family.

Close to all local amenities: 🛍⛽️🍲🍷🍻🎰🎱🏊🏼‍♀️🏊🏾‍♂️🏹🚲🧖🏽‍♂️🧖🏽‍♀️💆🏼‍♂️💆🏼‍♀️💅🏼shop/petrol/restaurant/bar/pharmacy/leisure Centre/beautician and more.

The pharmacy sells basic provisions but the spar is a short walk or drive away. There wasn’t anything we needed so enjoyed days out to the lovely, regeneration started, local seaside towns, and even though we went in the snow the harbour was still very pretty.

A walk on Bempton cliffs is highly recommend. Breathtaking! See the gannets, we definitely want to return when the puffins are around!

My husband had a massage with the lovely beautician, Vanessa, on the Bay site within the leisure centre. We both enjoyed the facilities and found them and the staff to be of a high standard. The pool, steam room and sauna were a pure treat. There is a small warm pool for the tiddlywinks.

We cooked and had movie and games nights at the cottage, very cosy and a restful home from home.

When we ate at the local pub on site it was plentifully, tasty and freshly cooked. I’d highly recommend the fish and chips! And the beer. We sampled the BLT 😋and coffees after a morning stroll on the beach with the dog. Couple of games of pool in the Dog friendly pub!🐶

The Bay itself is pristine and well managed. We saw maintenance teams busy making things perfect in time for the summer season and a new arcade for families is being built at the side of the swimming pool.

The only downside was lack of recycling facilities but that is no reflection on Lavendar Cottage.

On the whole all the cottages in the Bay are pretty and the well maintained. Lavendar Cottage is the perfect place to come and relax, walks and scenic views a plenty if that’s more your thing? The accessibility was easy with good parking and easy tarmaced pathways to the beach. We would recommend this stunning British holiday location to anyone. As we, the family and pets, will definitely be returning this year!.. in fact we’re already planning our next vacation there with friends this time. ❤️

Great for walking on the beach to Filey. Fantastic for dogs. We also visited Scarborough, Bempton Cliffs (really friendly RSPB Visitor Centre), Flamborough Head and Hornsea. Lots of DVDs and games available for the evenings :)

Excellent fully equipped property, located in an ideal place for dog overs, beach access to Filey was excellent, meal at the on site pub was good

No wifi access wss both a blessing and a hindrance with 2 teenagers and I can't help but think it would be the only addition required to the cottage
