Lavender Cottage is a stylish 2 bedroom open plan self catering cottage situated on the outskirts of Filey, within the award winning complex known as 'The Bay'.

The Bay is a holiday village situated within 100 acres of well maintained grounds, meadows and lakes. It has its own on-site facilities and private access to 5 miles of sandy beach.

The cottage is fully central heated with double glazing and comprises of an open plan living dining kitchen with hallway and cloakroom to the ground floor. The living area provides DVD TV, DVDs, Wii, board games and books for guests use. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, integrated fridge with freezer compartment, cooker and microwave. French doors offer access to a south facing patio with patio furniture and a semi-enclosed garden. The first floor comprises of a double bedroom with walk in wardrobe/dressing room with hairdryer, twin bedroom and family bathroom with a shower over the bath. An ironing board and iron is also supplied.

Facilities offered to our guests include complimentary access to an indoor heated swimming pool with separate children’s pool, sauna/steam room and gym. There are numerous boules courts around the village, a children’s play area and football pitch.

Private access is permitted directly from The Bay to five miles of sandy beach which permits access for dogs all year round (certain areas are restricted at specific times).

On-site facilities provided include pharmacy, café/bistro, pub and 24 hour security. Additional facilities are available at the leisure complex at an additional cost and include beauty treatments, tennis, fishing, rifle shooting, fencing, archery, table tennis, mountain bike hire and childrens activities.

Lavender cottage permits up to two well behaved pets, however there will be an additional charge due to extra cleaning costs. There is plenty of parking around the property.

Sorry but no smoking is permitted within the house.

It is possible to link into BT Wi-fi hub free of charge if your provider is BT using your BT home account so please bring your log in details with you, alternatively free Wi-fi can be accessed at the on-site pub.

The cottage location is an ideal base for exploring the North Yorkshire coastline and surrounding moors. With plenty of cycle trails, golf courses and scenic walks including the Cleveland Way National Trail which starts on the cliffs of Filey. Filey is a charming unspoilt seaside resort and is located approximately 3 miles away from The Bay. Scarborough, Bridlington, Flamborough Head and the RSPB nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs are all within a short drive, with the historic town of Whitby and city of York being slightly further afield.

About Chris and Jayne

Lavender cottage is owned by Chris and Jayne who live in Derbyshire.

We first came across The Bay in 2011 after taking a day off work to walk our German short-haired pointer along the beach from Hunmanby Gap to Filey to have some of the town's famous fish and chips. On seeing The Bay we fell in love with the place straight away.

We bought the cottage in late 2011 and have added many extras to make the cottage a real home from home and to ensure your holiday is as enjoyable as possible.

We visit the cottage as often as we can to escape everyday life as it's a great place to relax and unwind. We hope you enjoy the comfort of our cottage and enjoy the superb facilities that The Bay has on offer.

Why Chris and Jayne chose North Yorkshire

We know the area well from family holidays and we've had many lovely times visiting the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and roaming the surrounding moors. The area has something for everyone from stunning scenery and glorious stretches of sand to family-friendly seaside resorts and tiny fishing villages.

The cottage is new and modern but with a traditional look that blends into the surroundings. It provides a peaceful retreat with plenty of on-site facilities. The beach, wild flower meadow, lakes and facilities such as a leisure centre, swimming pool and pub are all a short walk away.

The location is within easy access to Filey, the North Yorkshire Moors, bustling towns of Scarborough and Bridlington and a bit further afield Whitby and York.

What makes this cottage unique

In all seasons it's a great place to get away from it all. It has a very relaxed feel but there is plenty to do if that's what you prefer.

A stroll along the beach, dip in the indoor heated swimming pool, and drink in the pub are all a short walk away. The Bay is a safe family friendly environment with 24 hour on-site security.

The cottage is in a great location with open aspect and sunny terrace. It's well decorated, furnished and has everything you need. We've also left a selection of books, DVDs, Wii, board games and beach accessories for our guests to use.

Fantastic accommodation

Very homely cottage with lots of added extras, children's games for inside & out, videos & books also TVs in both bedrooms. More spacious than it looks on the photos. Easy parking. Good pub on site for food & drink. Good access to the beautiful beach. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent short break cottage

We loved the cottage!! Welcoming, clean & great facilities!! The Bay is great, with the beach in easy walking distance, plus the convenience of the indoor swimming pool, (for rainy days!) & an Italian restaurant & pub also on site.

We had a great stay- (our 7 year old daughter didn't want to come home!!!)

The only downside, if any, was the mattresses in the bedrooms, absolutely fine if you're used to sleeping on a very soft mattress, but we all suffered with achey backs..... My daughter called her bed 'the marshmallow' bed, so unfortunately no holiday lay in bed during this trip!

Would definetely recommend for anyone looking for a short break, however I would imagine the on site facilities get very busy during peak times.

Awesome stay at lavender

Lovely and clean, perfect for our little family. Everything we needed was available. There was a cracking pub on site and had a nice couple of hours in the leisure centre too. Just wish we were there longer!! Definitely coming to stay again some day!!

"Little Gem"

This home from home is situated in "The Bay" holiday village, which has leisure facilities; meadow walks and is close to the beach. Lavender Cottage is best described as a “little gem”. It is very comfortable and has been thoughtfully equipped with books, games and DVD's by the owners. It is easy to visited local resorts such as Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and many other local attractions. The onsite pub "John Paul Jones" is well worth a visit and has a good menu, they also make dogs and children welcome. Our dog Rosie enjoys the walk on the beach to Filey, which takes 30 to 40 minutes. The cottage is a great place to relax and even if you are not blessed with good weather it is still a lovely place to stay.

We think this was our fifth visit to the cottage, (lost count!), but we are already planning another visit later in the year.

Lovely Stay

We had a very enjoyable stay at Lavender Cottage. The cottage itself was very clean and warm and comfortable. We really appreciated the extras that were left for us like helpful guides to the area etc. and the facilities at The Bay Complex were great. We would definitely like to return.

Fabulous cottage in a wonderful location. Loved it here and will definitely return.

The owners have thought of everything to make this a perfect place to stay. The cottage has everything you need. The decor is very tasteful, beds are comfy. Lots of little touches make it so homely. Little details make this such a fabulous place to stay. Extremely dog friendly Belle our Labrador was in her element on the Beach. We had some fabulous walks during our stay. We absolutely loved Lavender Cottage and The Bay and can't wait to return.

Coast/Beach:

Filey beach, with miles of beautiful sands, is a short walk through the holiday village. The charming town of Filey is approximately 30 minutes easy walk along the beach. Please be aware of tide times.

Travel:

The Bay is situated just off the A165 coast road between Scarborough and Bridlington. Travelling by car is not essential as there are railway stations at Filey (3 miles), Bridlington (7 miles) and Scarborough (8 miles). There is a regular bus service between all 3 of these towns with a bus stop on the main road at the entrance to The Bay.

Distances:

Walking - 5 minutes to the leisure centre, public house, café/bistro and pharmacy

Walking - 15 minutes to the beach

Driving - Approximately 2 miles to the village of Humanby; 3 miles to Filey; 7 miles to Bridlington; 8 miles to Scarborough; 30 miles to Whitby; 40 miles to York

Further Details:

Basic provisions can be purchased at the on-site pharmacy from Monday to Friday. A Tesco supermarket is located within Filey. Primrose Valley Spar shop, a 10 minute walk away, provides all essential provisions and is open 7am until 9pm. The on-site public house serves good quality food and drink. The café/bistro serves cakes and take away pizza.

A 25% deposit is required on booking, balance payable 45 days (approx 6 weeks) prior to visit. If booking is made within 45 days (approx 6 weeks) of arrival the full amount is payable on booking.

A housekeeping bond of £100 will be requested when the full amount is due. This is security against damage, the need for additional cleaning, loss of the leisure pass/keys or misrepresentation of booking. This will be returned within 14 days of the end of your stay.

Changeover Day:
Usually Friday or Monday and Saturday during peak periods.
However, during quieter periods please enquire if you would like something different.
Check-in from 3pm. Check-out by 10am.


Notes on prices:
Short breaks (Mon-Fri or Fri-Mon) are available at a reduced % of the weekly price shown in the table. During peak periods these may not be available. Please send an enquiry to get a price.

The meadow and lake area is accessible minutes from the rear of the property, which provides an ideal exercise area for jogging or walking the dog. There is ample parking around the cottage. Utility Room: The under stairs cupboard stores the vacuum cleaner, dustpan and brush, child gate, high chair and beach accessories. An iron, ironing board and clothes dryer can be found in the airing cupboard upstairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and tea towels are included in the price. Guests are each provided with ua bath towel and hand towel. Prior to guests arrival the cottage is professionally cleaned. There is no maid service. Other: The front door leads on to a spacious entrance hall with storage for coats.
