We enjoy sharing our lovely cottages for your holiday in Devon. Happy to provide local knowledge for you on your trip to Torquay. We have stayed in many holiday rentals and we have set up the cottages in a way that they are simply an extension of our own home. Exceptionally well equipped, all of the mod cons that you would need, comfortable furniture and sleeping arrangements to ensure that you feel home from home.
The upside is we have ensured there is no alarm clock for work, no phones and no domestic chores to do. Simply arrive, unpack and settle straight into your holiday or break away. The views, the surrounding areas and people are perfect.

We left home and found another home, everything we needed. I walked, rode, drank, laughed & crab fished which I haven't done since I was 10, great week, great cottage."

Great family getaway!
We often return to Coastguard Cottages. The location is fantastic and the cottage is perfect for our family. It has everything we need and is clean and tidy. It felt as if it had just been redecorated too, which made everything all fresh and lovely! The master bed is super comfy. Our girls (10 and 8) love chatting to the dog walkers on Daddyhole Plain before we all trot down to Meadfoot Beach for the day. We would definitely return again!
Nice cottage in excellent location
The cottage is nicely presented in a quiet & superb location close to Torquay town centre. The cottage has plenty of room for 6 people (we only had 3 adults and 1 toddler) I found communication with the owner was very good with swift responses. If I have one critism I would update the TV/DVD/Freeview box but this would be me being picky. I would definitely recommend this cottage
nice location but in great need of updating
The location is great nice and quiet.Only and main downfall is the state of the bath, furnishings and the fact plates in the cupboard dirty, mug dirty, furniture falling to pieces. You could also warn visitors of the noise at night from cars in the car park!
Beautiful quiet location with stunning sea views but that's about it.
Was not impressed with the cleanness of the cottage everything felt dirty (mugs had been put back on the stand dirty), the bath was filthy had completely worn away at the bottom and needs replacing. Everything in the house was quite old and had seen better days. The photos are very misleading the cottage looks nothing like them, it also looks like you have your own private closed garden it was not and i couldn't let my dogs off their lead. There was some mold in one of the bedrooms. I also paid extra money to take my dogs (which by the end of the weekend i was quite angry about) and i left as soon as i could on Sunday morning to come home again. Very overpriced for the quality of the cottage which is a shame as the views and location are beautiful.
Disappionted with cottage
Good location excellent views, sadly the cottage needs complete update very dated as the garden needs to tendered to the patio chairs filthy, never stayed in a place with mis matched bedding .

“We have long links with Torquay and I fell in love with Daddyhole Plain following a trip to the area and sitting on Meadfoot Beach the day after the total eclipse of the sun in August 1999.”

If keeping active is more your thing, then Meadfoot Beach is a popular spot for diving and fishing, while the South West Coastal Path lies at the top of the hillside.

Torquay is full of surprises with its magnificent horseshoe-shaped bay, swaying palm trees, elegant Victorian villas, pretty marina, sweeping sandy beach and its fascinating Agatha Christie connections.
Torquay’s history is bound up in the Napoleonic Wars when the town became a watering hole for the rich elite who could no longer visit continental Europe and who were greatly struck by its beauty and mild climate. Following the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon was held captive on the HMS Bellerophon in Tor Bay for two days and is reported to have exclaimed ‘Quel Bon Pays’ (what a lovely country).
Over the years, a glittering array of creative and well-connected personages visited the resort and these have been immortalised by the popular Blue Plaque Heritage Trail around Torquay. Famous authors included Flora Thompson of Lark Rise novels and Charles Kingsley who penned the Water Babies. Rudyard Kipling spent two years at Rock House in Torquay, and poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning spent time at the now Hotel Regina on Torquay harbourside. Hesketh Crescent in Torquay was once leased to Charles Darwin and ?Engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel also had a long association here.
The Victorians coined the term English Riviera, by now well established as a fashionable holiday destination, and the very first promotional guide was launched 100 years ago.

From the Owner
“I decided that I wanted to come and visit this amazing area again and again and felt the uniqueness of these cottages over looking Daddyhole Plain and being close to the sea was always going to be a special memory for me; to come and get away from my busy life in London. I now live in Cheltenham and visit the cottages whenever I can get away with my wife and children. If you are a holiday maker with children they will love Daddyhole Plain it is actually a very safe area for children to play whilst you relax outside the cottages with an eye on them without worry. No cars will drive by as private road so only cars that come by are the ones that visit the cottages of which their are only 8.”
