Relaxing and quiet holiday

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful time in a beautiful remote location with amazing views.

Hospitable and friendly hosts made us feel at home straight away.

The welcome pack was a wonderful bonus. The studio had absolutely everything we needed to be able to cater for ourselves and to enjoy candle lit drinks outside in the evening.

Lovely restaurant and bar approximately 15 minute walk away.

We feel thoroughly rested and restored after our break. Thanks Jayne and Mike

Perfect little hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival we were met by a smiling Jayne who showed us around the property, everything from which light switch operated which light, to the buttons on the Jacuzzi Spa. Even a digi box with UK tv channels if you need them !

Jayne explained that the pool was available at any time as well but even they had found it a bit cool so had not used it recently.

We met Tony the next morning as he been unavailable upon our arrival, yet again we he was very welcoming and we had a good conversation, they both stressed that it was their intention to give guests total privacy, and that if they were required they would be available at all times.

The property is charming, great views has everything you need while staying there, it was very clean and hard a large outside space with sun beds, chairs, undercover bar seating area and the Spa.

Not only did we receive a great welcome but once we had settled in we realised that there was a welcome pack provided by Jayne and Tony, all the essentials like Milk, Orange Juice ,Margarine Bread, Beer ,Wine.

This was unexpected but very very welcome.

The Table Mountain restaurant in Los Ventorros about 3 mins drive was excellent, we ate there 4 nights.

This is the first time we have spent time in the mountains, and we would be more than happy to go and stay at Jayne and Tony's lovely picturesque casita again ?

Yeah the mountain roads are twisty with huge drops off the side of the road, but that's part of the fun, go on just do it go, and stay there, you will love it.

Jayne Tony thanks very much and keep enjoying your Spanish lifestyle, I quite envied it.

Amazing Mountain Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Just arrived home from our little holiday retreat and I already want to go back.

The apartment looks just like the photos with the exception that the main room is a lot larger than I expected. The outside space is generous with plenty of space for sunbathing and dining, my favourite spot was sitting in the shade in the chair by the french doors just taking in the views.

The apartment had everything we needed for our stay and I liked that Jayne and Tony had provided both bath and beach towels which was a real space saver when packing. Although the owners are just next door it didn't feel like it, you have your own space and it's extremely private. But it was nice to pick them for their local knowledge when needed.

Whilst here we visited the local restaurant Table Mountain Los Ventorros 3 times and found the food to be extremely good, I would recommend the prawn starter amazing. The staff speak very good English and are very attentive and most welcoming.

As for things to do I would recommend a trip to Gibraltar great shopping take your ££££ and passport and El Chorro lakes WOW is all I can say Google it. All decent drives but well worth it and the roads are unbelievably quiet. We also fancied Ronda but ran out of time so maybe next year.

Lastly you cannot beat jumping in the Jacuzzi at the end of the day glass of Cava in hand watching the lights from the little villages across the valley total bliss.

Lovely little rural property with great hosts and a beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed with Jayne and Tony in early August and had a wonderful time, not least because of the facilities of the apartment and the welcoming nature of the hosts.

The apartment itself is nicely furnished with most everything you could need; there is a gas cooker, microwave and barbecue so you have plenty of choice for how to cook, and while the kitchen has limited work top space there is ample space to cook for two. The living area is spacious with a large TV and internet access so any lazy evenings can be spent surfing the net or watching from the selection of DVDs. The real selling points, however, are the Jacuzzi and pool access. The Jacuzzi is completely private and is a wonderful touch - we found a relaxing dip in the evening was a great way to relax after being out during the day. Any time you're outside of the property, whether in the pool, eating at the table or just lounging in the sun, you are greeted with a glorious view off to the north which never really gets old and helps to give the property a little something special.

As the property is in the vicinity of Comares you do have a little drive to get to areas of interest but with the Nerja Caves, Malaga and Granada all within 2 hours there is plenty to see and do. The Alhambra is a must see in Granada and the Picasso Museum is great in Malaga (the audio guide brings it to life, even if you're not knowledgeable about art!) so you find yourself nicely placed midway between the two in order to make some memorable day trips. Closer to the apartment Comares itself is an impressive town cut into the side of the mountains, while restaurants like the Table Mountain restaurant just a couple of minutes drive offer great local dining. Also, if you're interested in horse riding, there is a lovely couple that neighbour the apartment who you can organise treks with; a great experience that really shows off the majesty of the landscape. Jayne was kind enough to help organise this for us as well; both her and Tony were genuinely lovely and helpful throughout our stay and were available whenever we needed anything throughout the week.

A small note; you are on a mountain in rural Spain and there are a few things that come with this. There will be flies about, you will have dogs barking every time a car goes past and you'll almost certainly have to drive some tight roads. These are tiny inconveniences to a great property and shouldn't be a big bother to your stay.

Absolutely fantastic!

What a find! This cottage/finca is absolutely amazing. Close to the beautiful hilltop town of Comares (about 5 mins by car), the location is perfect for those who love the outdoors. With stunning views down the valley, hills covered with lush crops of avocado trees, vines, fruits and olives and with the sounds of the goats and sheep with their little bells and the close-by mule, you feel fully immersed in the Andalusian countryside.

Tony and Jayne were the perfect hosts – happy to be on hand if you needed anything, otherwise, you were left to your own devices.

The hot tub and outside bar area were such a bonus and afforded the lovely views right down the valley and across to the Sierra del Rey. Having access to the pool is much needed when the temperature rises!

The villa itself has everything you need; it's spacious and clean and having towels provided is such a help when you're travelling with only hand luggage!

The town has a very well stocked supermarket (Corivan). If you arrive late on Saturday or on a Sunday, bear in mind that this will be closed. Jayne very kindly leaves a welcome pack of basics – the cava was such a treat on arrival at midnight! A 40 min car journey will get you to Torre Del Marr and Caleta de Velez where you'll find supermarkets open on Sundays (there is also a great street market in Caleta on Saturday mornings).

If you're looking for a 'get away from it all' holiday, this place is perfect. We will definitely be back.

Thanks again Tony and Jayne (and your lovely animals!) – we wish you all the best for the future!

From the Owner

We love living here. This is real spain living next door to spanish farmers and their animals. The views are spectacular. The locals are friendly. We live away from the hustle and bustle and commercialization of coast but can be there in 40 minutes We have easy access from a road which is a bonus no horrendous dirt tracks to rattle your bones. Although the pool is in front of our villa you have access via a gate to use whenever you want. We do not use the pool when you are using it. No one else stays here so you have total privacy. Because we live in the Spanish countryside you may occasionally see and hear chickens , goats, dogs, horses, mules, turkeys, birds, owls, eagles, vultures, insects etc. which all add to the ambiance of authentic country life. What you won't see or hear is hectic noisy traffic, bar brawls, drunken, shouting people. Embrace the peace.
