About Martin Fagan

We like Crete....always have ...ever since we were students coming here backpacking. In 2008 we built our first house here, in Ag Galini on the south coast. We have recently bought our second property here at Pasalites.

Crete is wonderful .... history, nice beaches, mountains, wildlife. However we prefer the quieter aspects hence both our houses are in isolated locations.

Passilites is very suited to couples wishing walking, cycling, quiet holidays.

Martin Fagan purchased this villa in 2015

Why Martin Fagan chose Rethymnon area

We saw this on TV in the UK, on a "Property in the Sun - Home or Away'

In November 2014 we visited and fell in love with it. The sale was completed in January 2015.

What makes this villa unique

Peace and quiet! Our daughter says it is 'cute'! Altogether very relaxing. Great romantic getaway, and dry suitable for couples wishing a base to explore Crete, or those interested in nature, seclusion, history, or just looking for a quiet getaway.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Firstly many thanks again. We had a wonderful fortnight and found staying at Villa Alexander suited us perfectly. We loved the peaceful location and you have appointed and equipped the cottage extremely well. There was nothing lacking (apart from a nutcracker but we wouldn’t expect one!) and a number of items provided that we would not normally expect. Our only suggestions would be that we found the pans unnecessarily large for 2 people and the shower hose stretched across the corner of the shower tray. The provision of one, or preferably 2, small pans would have been handy and a longer shower hose hooked to the corner would mean that it would not be in the way.

Pasalites’ position also fitted our needs really well with easy access to the New National Road making trips to Chania, Knossos, Spinalonga, the Lasithi plateau, Phaistos and the South coast manageable, and also close to Arkadi and Eleftherna for more local exploration. Eleftherna we found particularly rewarding though it’s a shame we couldn’t see the Acropolis or Necropolis.

One little extra touch which we hugely appreciated and came as a complete surprise was that on both Sundays Haroula called in at the window and presented us with a freshly cooked hot snack; dolmades and a stuffed pepper and onion one time and pittas (?), fried spinach pies the other. We felt so inadequate in that we couldn’t thank her properly as our Greek is no better than her English, but it was terribly kind of her.

With thanks again

Modern and clean villa in a stunning mountain setting in a peaceful Cretan village.

  • 4 of 5

Exactly what it said in the description on line and the directions to get here from Sally were spot on. The courtyard was lovely for lounging and the villa is completely self contained with all mod-cons. The power shower and air con came in very useful after a day out sightseeing. Plenty of storage and there were some nice touches with parasols, sun loungers, torches and candles in case of power cuts- we didn't have to use them, external lighting for evening meals, there was even a spring balance to weigh your cases for the trip back - we needed for nothing.

We used the villa as a base so visited Knossos, Margarites - ceramic art village, took a stunning drive up Mount Ida to Anogeia and drove to the south coast to a beach called Aya Pavlos - utter heaven. A trip to the Arkadian Monestary is a must - very moving and if you are visiting Eleftherna make it a whole day and go to the museum in the new village first to get the lie of the land - a fascinating place. A couple of days we lay in in the comfy bed and then sun bathed in the courtyard listening to the goats in the adjacent olive grove.

The people are friendly our neighbour gave us a gift of freshly picked apricots and fresh oregano - everyone says hello and nothing is too much trouble.

Our two weeks flew by and we relaxed well helped by the wine and Raki. Our first visit to Crete and it won't be the last.

La maison est située dans un petit village plein de charme et très calme .Elle est très bien équipée , joliment décorée avec une cour très agréable ou l'on peut prendre ses repas .

L'annonce est tout à fait conforme au descriptif(pas de mauvaise surprise)
