About the property

Cottage in Trunch, North Norfolk, England - Peaceful Idyllic Location - 2 Miles Off The Coast Near Mundesley

Pumphouse Cottage is the annexe of The Manor House, Trunch. It has been renovated in 2008 to a high standard and offers a self-contained single storey accommodation. The cottage is only 2 miles off the North Norfolk coast near Mundesley. In addition to its double bedroom, the lounge offers a comfortable bed-sofa where another 2 guests might sleep. The cottage has been tastefully converted with partly vaulted ceiling and is furnished to a very high standard in both modern and traditional country style. It offers a wood burner in the lounge, wireless internet access, off-road parking and its own garden and terrace with garden furniture. The accommodation has high quality wooden floors throughout, except for the traditionally tiled bathroom and cooking area. It still holds its original sash windows, together with newly installed modern double-glazed windows and a French door to the patio. Guests have also access to their own washing/dryer machine and utility room. For those who like to sit outside and relax there is a west facing patio area with a table and chairs and a further secluded garden area. There is private off-road parking next to the cottage. We accept well behaved children as well as well behaved dogs by prior arrangement.

Susanne Mason purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Susanne Mason chose North Norfolk & Coast

We love North Norfolk because of its beautiful landscape and nature, the seaside, the charming villages and market towns, the peaceful lifestyle. At the same time, Trunch is a very active, lively village, and most people are very friendly, helpful and laid back in our area.

Public transport is very good - trains and buses running at regular intervals to Norwich and London.

What makes this cottage unique

Pumphouse Cottage enjoys a very tranquil, peaceful setting on the edge of the village, with just open fields around. At the same time, the village shop and pub can be reached within a 5 minutes walk. And the nearest beach is just a 5 minutes drive away.

Our guests praise the cottage for its cosiness and comfort. They say it is far more spacious than it might seem online.

Our little getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a little find. We were given a very warm welcom by Susanne and John. Susanne showed us around the pump house and we found it to be equipped with everything we needed. Although Susanne and John are next door they are very discreet leaving you to enjoy your holiday, but there if needed. The garden of the pump house is beautiful with a lovely sitting area. A beautifully comfortable bed which was very welcome after our long walks. Our dogs loved their holiday. Beautiful beaches are short distance away and some very decent pubs locally. Go to the pump house....you won't be disappointed. We will be back!!

Lovely - private, spacious and quiet retreat for 2

  • 4 of 5

Friendly, helpful owners next door. Lovely outlook over private garden & patio with afternoon sun. The electric shower let the place down - I have never had a shower with less power in spite of being incredibly noisy! That said, it was not enough to spoil an excellent week's holiday with plenty of cycling on quiet lanes. A perfect break.

Well equipped cottage in a lovely Norfolk village

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well equipped cottage which has a lovely garden. It is well positioned to explore all of Norfolk and the village has good walks which Poppy our Chocolate Labrador enjoyed. The owners were friendly and helpful and we also got a warm welcome at the local pub which serves good food. No complaints about anything.

A thoroughly enjoyable weekend

  • 3 of 5

On the positive side, this is a gorgeous part of Norfolk. It is predominantly rural, with lots of opportunities for walking and picture-perfect villages. The property is located in the village of Trunch, within walking distance of a pub and village store. The owners were very helpful in giving us information about walking and good pubs in the area. They are not intrusive, and we appreciated being able to sit outside on the private patio in the back garden. However, a few aspects of the property need to be improved. The bed is awful and needs to be replaced. The property also isn't as clean as it should be, particularly in the kitchen. The shower runs the gamut from freezing to scalding without touching the dial. Despite these shortcomings, this property is a pleasant place to stay. If these problems were fixed, it would be fantastic.

Owner's Response: We are glad you found so much to your satisfaction with your visit and thank you for the kind words you have for your hosts. We have checked the three criticisms you make and have asked the current tenants, who have already been staying three nights, and we all concur that the shower mixes properly. The bed certainly suits the current guests, who also found the kitchen perfectly clean on arrival. In the light of many other very positive reviews and our endeavours to provide very good accommodation, we regret that you felt you needed to put these comments in writing. Afterall, as you say, we always make ourselves available to guests in a discreet and friendly manner and we are quite sure that, had you mentioned your concerns to us, we could have sorted/explained them directly to your complete satisfaction.

A mid-week couple of nights

  • 5 of 5

The property is well equipped and the owners are vey pleasant. It is a good base to visit various parts of Norfolk. The village pub is incredibly friendly and although the menu is very limited the food was good and excellent value for money.
