Golden Cottage is a detached, three storey town house in Sidmouth town centre, ideally situated in a central but peaceful location very close to the Esplanade. The interior has recently been extensively refurbished to create a very appealing and welcoming holiday home. The cottage retains character features including solid timber doors and a coal effect burner in the sitting room. All linens and towels are included free of charge. About Lizzy Buttle

Alex is the third generation in his family to have been born and raised in Sidmouth. Alex and his wife Lizzy now live in London, but are keen to maintain their connections with Sidmouth so that their own children can still appreciate this wonderful town. Alex's parents still live and work here and relish visits from their grandchildren who also love their holidays by the sea!

Why Lizzy Buttle chose East Devon

We wanted to buy a house that was near the town centre and beach as this really is the best location when holidaying in Sidmouth! Being able to step outside your door and walk to the seafront rather than worrying about where to park is priceless. Being in town, it is so convenient to be able to pop out to all the wonderfully unique shops and boutiques in Sidmouth, not to mention the array of quaint cafes, fine restaurants and traditional pubs. The cottage is also close to The Byes - a peaceful and shady riverside walk when you want to get away from it all.

What makes this cottage unique

Golden Cottage is centrally located so it is convenient for all local amenities. The cottage benefits from it's own private parking space right outside the front door which is invaluable as finding parking near the shops, restaurants and beach can otherwise be difficult and expensive. The cottage is just two minutes walk from both the beach and the high street, so once you arrive at Golden Cottage you can forget the car and spend your holiday enjoying all the many delights of the town and seafront on foot.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: There is parking for one car to the front of the property. Additional parking if required is available in a number of municipal car parks very close to Golden Cottage and weekly / seasonal rates are available. A cot and high chair are available at the cottage, however we are unable to guarantee the suitability of laundry detergents for infants, therefore we kindly ask that you provide your own sheets / blankets for the cot. Outside: There is a secluded and sunny south-facing walled courtyard garden with outside table and chairs to the rear of the property. There are also two sun loungers. Utility Room: The separate utility room contains a washing machine/drier and space for hanging out clothes / beach towels etc. An ironing board and iron are also provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linens are included in the rental price. Any bookings for more than one week will include a fresh set of towels and linens on the usual changeover day, plus maid service if required.

Wonderful stay in Sidmouth

We arrived at the cottage late at night so the parking space was a god send. The cottage was warm and cosy and it was lovely to be able to unwind straight away. In the morning we got to see how ideal the location is, a 2 minute walk to the shops, great coffee shop, toffee and gift shops and a local supermarket too. The sea front is 2 mins walk away and so pretty. The location and the facilities really do make this a great place to stay.

Excellent

We had a lovely three night stay in Golden Cottage. There are four things we rate highly and Golden Cottage scored on every point; a very comfortable bed (the king size), a powerful shower, good broadband connection and very important, location. There were only two of us staying in this sleeps 5 cottage so we had plenty of room. It is well appointed with everything you could need. We stayed in November and were a bit chilly when we arrived but the cottage was soon very cosy without being overwarm. We enjoyed the two-minute walk to look at the River Sid, constantly changing at the estuary. We liked that it was only a few minutes’ walk into town with its shops, pubs and restaurants. And most importantly for us, there are lots of walks on the doorstep. You need to be reasonably fit to tackle Peak Hill or the coastal path to the east but both very rewarding with their stunning views. There is only room to park one car but there are a couple of car parks a few minutes’ walk away. Highly recommended.

Golden cottage close to beach & shops

Golden Cottage Is clean and well maintained and is perfectly positioned close to the beach and shops with the added benefit of private parking for your vehicle. Sidmouth is a lovely town with a variety of shops , cafes, bars and restaurants. The Swan Inn is a few metres from the Cottage and serve good meals should you want to eat out. Sidmouth is also convenient if you wish to explore, we went to the Donkey Sanctuary, Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Beer, Seaton and Lyme Regis. We had a wonderful time staying in the cottage and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone other than disabled people who would find the staircases challenging. A wonderfully convenient location.

We really enjoyed our stay at Golden Cottage. Everywhere was finished to a good standard, and we were provided with everything we needed to make our holiday stress free, including wonderful weather. The children loved the playground just around the corner, and we spent many happy hours on the Sandy beach near Jacobs Ladder. Had two good meals at Dukes. Sidmouth is a pretty unspoilt town, and I would heartily recommend Golden Cottage to friends and family. Thank you !

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually Friday although other days may be available by arrangement out of high season and for short breaks. Please enquire for accurate short break prices in low season or for last minute bookings. Christmas and New Year 2016 - changeover day flexible but most likely Wednesday.

Notes on prices:
Short breaks are available out of peak season and are calculated as follows;
3 nights at 70% of weekly rate,
4 nights at 80% of weekly rate,
5 nights at 90% of weekly rate.
