We are a professional couple with 3 young girls working in London and living in the Chilterns. We live an active lifestyle combining snowboarding, skiing, gym, swimming and hiking. Time is precious and we like to maximise our family holiday time between our house in Austria and the apartment in France.

The apartment had recently been fully modernized -finished mainly in gleaming white with a strong modernist feel – sharp, clean, minimal – complimented by a subtle nautical theme with charming aspects of rustic ‘shabby chic ’ and vintage style furnishings. The apartment is very spacious – much more so (incidentally) than the online images suggest. There is a feeling of space and airiness throughout, effortlessly accommodating 2 adults/3 teenagers! Fully integrated white goods as well as washing machine and tumble dryer are all new and quality brands. Every room has air-conditioning – essential given that every day was well into the 30’s C. There is both an internal dining area, and a pretty-much secluded external patio area from which you can see the Mediterranean. The apartment is also very secure – with electronic roll-down shutters and basement parking accessed by remotely controlled garage doors. The apartment is located only 200 metres from the beach at Aiguebelle, which is surely one of the nicest locations around. We met grandparents/grandchildren and saw many families like ours as well as couples and friends enjoying their stay. Aiguebelle is a few minutes drive from nearby beaches some of which are walkable. St. Claire is another really nice place, as is Cavaliere. Le Lavandou is about 5-6 minutes drive, and has a larger beach and is more built up with more activities/things to do – day and night. As anyone might expect from a French resort, the food is excellent, although we mainly ate in the apartment. Aiguebelle is less than 2 hrs drive from Nice Airport. However, we recognise that the London Luton to Nimes Airport may be a better option for us in the future – Nimes being about 3 hrs drive from Aiguebelle (all depending on time of day). We found dealing with Owner’s Direct very easy – all the information was provided in a clear and timely manner and any questions we had were answered without delay. Access to the apartment was very straight forward and a house-keeper was always at hand to deal with any queries. No-one interrupted us during our stay – just the way we like it!

In short, this place gets ‘9 out of 10’ from us (9 only because I am a perfectionist who is unable to give 10 out of 10 even though it is thoroughly deserved) – as does Owner’s Direct for their kind and helpful correspondence and overall handling of our booking. We would certainly love to return to Aiguebelle in the future and would recommend this place to anyone.

Great Apartment/Location result in superb holiday

A great apartment located close to the beach and with a variety of excellent restaurants within 10 minutes walk. The apartment is beautiful inside with plenty of space and superb air conditioning, which was a welcome relief from the heat outside. The sea can be seen from the balcony and is only 2 mins walk. The local restaurants served excellent food with good variety and the welcome was good to see. It was a thoroughly good week in great surroundings and we would certainly recommend it.

Location

From the Owner

We were looking for an overseas property next to the sea and spotted this apartment in 2013. It is a few hundred metres from the beach and forms part of a set of apartments previously connected to the Hotel Les Roches opposite, which was a favourite haunt of Hollywood stars in the 1950's. The hotel and the apartments have been renovated to a high standard and with the help of the developer we have created an airy bright apartment with a balcony that looks out onto the sea. The main bedroom has an atrium and is filled with light. The sandy beach is a minutes walk which has a number of beach restaurants, though the lane itself has a host of great restaurants and hotels. Le Lavandou is a buzzing but sophisticated port and town located c 40 mins walk along the coast.

Nearest Airport : Toulon-Hyeres Airport at 30 Kilometres Nearest Beach : In front of property at 300 Metres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

2 minutes walk from local beach Neighbouring beaches 5-15 minutes walk.

Travel:

Toulon (Stansted/City) 30 mins drive. Nice 90 mins drive. From Toulon airport: exit airport and turn left at rbt. Follow rd along coast direction turning onto dual carriageway sp Le Lavandou/Nice. Enter Le Lavandou after 20 mins. Continue straight ahead sp Nice. 3 miles out of Le Lav is Aiguebelle. Take road Ave des 3 Dauphins on right as you enter Aiguebelle. Les Roches immediately on left. Apartment 2 at end up steps & thru small gate. Garage underneath.

Distances:

Le Lavandou 5 mins drive/40 mins to wallk. Local shop 10 mins walk but restaurants/hotels within minutes both sides.

The main selling point is the beach which is a minute walk from the apartment which is great for the children. The lane is off the main coastal road and the restaurants and hotels do not get as busy as neighbouring villages. There are beaches within walking distance either side of Aiguebelle which can be accessed either along the rocks in the sea or the cycle path which skirts the coast road.
