Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Nov-2016
Cottages on the Taf estuary near Llansteffan, Carmarthenshire - Peaceful Location With Wales Coastal Path Running Behind The Properties

Pentowyn is situated on the Taf estuary with wonderful views directly across to the historic castle at Laurgharne and the world famous Dylan Thomas's Boathouse and writing shed.Views up the estuary towards the Preseli Mountains and down the estuary towards Pendine, and Caldey Island. Pentowyn is in a wonderful rural setting, yet with the ever changing estuary views directly in front. The two cottages are converted farm buildings and are situated with the farmhouse of Pentowyn (owner’s home). Pentowyn’s origins date back to the 12th century as a priory farm, and is set in 5 acres with surrounding land being farmed and grazed with sheep and cattle. There is a lane leading down to the salt marsh where there is an abundance of wild life. The ‘Wales Coastal Walk’ passes behind the farm and there are plentiful walks directly from the doorstep. The sandy beach of Llansteffan is a 5 minute drive away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Arriving at Gwalia after a long journey to find it so comfortable, clean and warm was bliss. The cottage was in the most beautiful spot so to sit and watch the sun set with a glass of the wine which was left in the cottage was heavenly. I have never stayed in such a well equipped cottage. Sian and Brian were very helpful and friendly and helped to make our stay a total joy. We hope to go back.” - Feedback - May 2014

“Beautiful and peaceful position (looks good from the other side too). The property is one of the best equipped and furnished we have stayed in.

Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone liking a remote location” - Feedback - Jul 2014

5 minute drive to the beach at Llansteffan. Situated on the Welsh coastal path on the Taf estuary. 4 minute drive to the village.

Distances:

2 miles to nearest village and beach. 9 miles to nearest town of Carmarthen. Salt marsh in front of property is a 10 minute walk away.

Further Details:

Llansteffan village has a shop/post office, a restaurant (Yr Hen Dafarn) specialising in locally caught fresh fish and game. The Castle and The Sticks are two family friendly pubs both serving tasty meals and excellent draught beer. There is a beach café serving hot drinks and snacks and selling souvenirs and buckets and spades for the children. Two tennis courts are available for a small charge. There are two play areas for children (one at the beach and one adjacent to the school). The beach is a long sandy expanse yet with rock pools which children find quite an adventure. The imposing Norman castle overlooks the Towy estuary and has magnificent views towards Worms Head and the Gower Peninsula.
