Cosy, clean, well maintained little Yorkshire cottage

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in Daisy Cottage. It was our first time in Pickering and the cottage is so well placed for the town. Literally a couple of minutes and you are on the main shopping street. As it snowed while we were there (for Christmas) being able to walk in was a big advantage.

The cottage has been refurbished recently I believe and we thought it was tastefully done. It's small but cute and we thought well equipped.

There is a fully enclosed small garden, up quite a few steps, but it was great to be able to let the dog out there and not be concerned about him escaping.

There are some lovely walks from the cottage up past the castle and in to the woods. But also walking around the town is very nice too, and there are so many dog friendly shops, coffee shops and pubs. It really is an ideal place to go with your dog.

The owners had put a Christmas tree up for us and left some milk, tea bags and mince pies. A very thoughtful gesture.

The cottage is right across the road from the North Yorks Steam Railway and it was great to see and hear the occasional trains leaving. In the summer they run right into Whitby and you can take dogs on them.

We really liked staying here and would love to return again in warmer times!

Great little cottage. Convenient for town strolls and country walks. Comfortable and convenient.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in Daisy Cottage. Although compact, it has been extremely well planned. The kitchen is well-equipped and unlike some holiday cottages, its possible to cook a full meal with no trouble. The sitting room is comfortable and cosy - an electric faux wood burning stove is an excellent idea for extra warmth in winter. Our dog loved it!

The bathroom is a good size with an excellent shower.

The location couldn't be better - 2 minutes will take you straight past the castle into a lovely walk through woods, and in another few minutes you can be in town. Fish and chips in the much-praised fish restaurant/cafe round the corner is extraordinarily good. Will be back.

Does the job very well, great location.

So much thought has been put into providing everything you could need, great bathroom, even down to leaving things like fresh milk in the fridge. Thank you so much, not a fan of the staircase though, but you are well advised of it.

great cottage in perfect location, could do with a spruce up for the price but overall good.

Did not apply to us, but if taking small children a stair gate would be good the stairs are very steep and straight out of the bedroom

Owner's Response: Hi Susan, and thank you for your comments. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Daisy Cottage. As you suggest, a stair gate is supplied with the cottage - this is located under the bed in the second bedroom and can on request be fitted before arrival or our guests can choose to do so during their stay. In relation to your comment regarding a 'spruce up' I'm surprised to hear this, as the Cottage has been recently refurbished and is priced in the middle of all properties in the area. If you do have specific comments please do let us know as we will action these immediately. Regards.

second bedroom very disappointing

  • 3 of 5

Stairs we knew about but they were worse than we expected. The second bedroom was not suitable for two people, no wardrobe or drawers and very little room to move around the room. Not suitable for 4 persons, as advertised.

The TV caused some problems but we managed to figure out what should be done to keep it working, after 3 nights of missing programs. Would not book there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments Mr and Mrs Pearce. We are sorry to hear that the second bedroom was not to your liking and certainly appreciate your time taken in making this comment. Fortunately this is the only time we have received such feedback, and I suppose it is a natural consequence of running a Grade II listed property, which cannot be altered from its original 1810's layout, that we cannot meet everyone's expectations. However I do hope the fact that we attended swiftly on two consecutive days to turn the television on to the correct channel for you shows our commitment to ensuring that our guests are well looked after. Best regards.

Such a lovely property, with everything you could need

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our stay in this beautiful cottage, perfect central location for the town of Pickering.

The Cottage has everything you could ever want or need, on our arrival it was lovely to find cake, coffee, tea, and milk and all the cleaning items you could ever need.

It was lovely being able to just open the front door to watch the steam trains, a real highlight to my son. Also only a short walk to the castle.

The cottage has a great DVD collection and so much information about the local area.

We had no problem with the stairs and it added to the cottages charm.

We very much look forward to staying again.

A big thank you to the owners for making such a great holiday home
