That such a beautiful house really exists...it's a miracle

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 persons (6 adults; 2 children aged 6 and 8 years) had the good fortune to stay in this fantastic house for one week. Previous guests wrote it already and we can fully confirm their opinion: the house is amazing and exceeded all our expectations! It is even more beautiful than on the pictures.

Upon entering there is a spacious hall, with on the same level a comfortable TV room and bathroom. The first floor consists of a large and cozy kitchen in which really all you need is present. We were also treated to goodies from the region (cookies, wine, cheese, sausage), with which the sympathetic owners wanted to welcome us. What a warm gesture!

From the large balcony on the same floor there is a wonderful view of the mountains.

On the second and third floor are four bedrooms with comfortable box springs. Each bedroom has an adjoining, spacious and beautiful bathroom.

And then the basement...every day, and especially after our hikes, we greatly enjoyed the luxury heated pool with the waterfall and jet streams. In particular, the children could not get enough of it!

The renovation of the house has been done very sound and tastefully, and the materials used are of excellent level.

We have a lot of appreciation for the great hospitality and helpfulness of the owners. Communication with them was fast and easy, the information we received was clear and we also got several suggestions for restaurants, shops and activities.

Our stay was wonderful and relaxing and we would like to come back!

Beautiful property in a delightful village

  • 5 of 5

This stunning house is tucked away in a beautiful mountain village, only a few minutes drive from the slopes.

The property has been restored to a very high standard and offers very comfortable and spacious accommodation. Attention to detail is second to none with underfloor heating in the hallway for drying out ski boots etc, a very well equipped kitchen, log burner and a separate bathroom for each extremely comfortable bedroom.

The icing on the cake is the basement hot pool / jacuzzi and sauna room. Perfect for relaxing after a day's skiing.

Highly recommended.

A perfect break to de-stress in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

The property sits in a quite historic village and has been beautifully renovated with amazing attention to detail and very cool design. I loved the local feel to the area away from the tourists - we practically had the entire area to ourselves. Skiing locally in Crevacol is gentle but amazingly easy to access, cheap and the views spectacular. At this time of year we also had the slopes to ourselves. Most skiers were ski-touring up the opposite valleys which looked spectactular and something I'd like to try next time. The owners had informed the local restaurants of our stay which ensured a very warm welcome with fine dining on the mountainside (and multiple prosecco breaks). The best bit is the pool and sauna - a great way to unwind after a day on the slopes. All in all a very nice weekend and very different to the usual ski experience.

Outstanding Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

Our experience of this lovely holiday home in St Rhemy-en-Bosse was simply delightful in every way: the house itself was tastefully decorated and very comfortable; the scenery and walks in the area, a joy to experience; the food, simply delicious; we even got to know some of the neighbours who were generous to lend us some garlic for a meal!

We arrived in the idyllic, alpine village of St Rhemy-en-Bosse, parked the car in the public car park and walked along a lovely walkway that bordered a rushing mountain creek to find the beautifully-renovated, once ancient holiday home. Upon entering we found guest slippers for the whole family and a comfortable TV lounge and toilet/shower room on the ground floor. On the basement level below, we discovered a large hot pool and sauna which was wonderful for soothing tired muscles after a long, mountain walk. The first floor of the house was an excellent combination kitchen, dining and living room, tastefully decorated in grey and white tones like the rest of the house. Balconies led off this floor which provided stunning views of the mountain ranges that grace the Val d'Aosta district. Each bedroom was tastefully furnished, and each had an ensuite. We also had use of the washing machine. All the equipment that we needed was provided and functioned without problem.

We found the property very clean on arrival. The owner gave us an extraordinary welcome us with a fridge full of milk, juice, fruit tarts and a dining room table laid with local meats, cheeses, breads and wine from a local Refugio. With respect to food, a car is essential for buying groceries. The nearest large supermarket is in Aosta. But, we discovered a bakery for croissant and focaccia in Etroubles to which we ventured every morning. We also ate a delicious meal at the local restaurant Suisse..

The owner was very helpful in recommending walks to us. The Tourist Information Offices in the village of Etroubles and the town, Aosta, readily provided maps and information on walks as well.

In sum, we had a delightful family holiday in St Rhemy-en-Bosse. We lacked for nothing and were very sad to leave! We are looking forward to our next visit to this wonderful property and could not recommend it highly enough!

Ultimate luxury and comfort in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

No stone has been left unturned by the owners to make your stay in this delightful mountain village house an absolute pleasure. The decoration throughout is imaginative and tasteful, with comfort a priority, particularly in the bedrooms. The open plan living/dining room with its wood burning stove, ensures the cooks are not excluded from socialising. The huge ground floor tv room/snug with its huge sofas allow families to have a bit of peace away from the main living area and bedrooms. The piece de resistance has to be the awesome hot pool and sauna in the basement. With its bare stone wall as a backdrop and waterfall and jets - nothing can beat the luxury of soaking in the pool after a day on the slopes. We will be back for sure!

What a place . . . !!

  • 5 of 5

Wow . . . what a place. The property is perfect, spacious and done out to a very high quality. We loved the pool, the lounge, the open plan kitchen / diner and luxurious bedrooms. St Remy is a great village, out the way of the thorough fair with plenty of towns and villages in easy reach for things to do and stocking up on supplies. We would love to return for a skiing holiday sometime as the local ski field’s looks great. Thanks for your fantastic hospitality and we hope we can go back sometime.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to meet you and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Thankyou for leaving the house in such a great condition. The skiing is truly fantastic with 'Crevacol' just around the corner. A hidden gem - we have never had to queue and yet it has all the amenities one would need with a ski school, fabulous restaurants & bars and facing south, plenty of sunshine! Great for beginners and intermediates and challenging off piste opportunities (and there is always a willing ski guide to help if you wish!). We hope to welcome you to St Rhemy en Bosses again!

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with this unique village back in 2005 and dreamt of buying a little mezzanine flat. We somehow managed to purchase the entire old stone house before it was divided up into apartments. It needed years of patient restoration and we finally finished in December 2014.

Facilities

From the Owner

The old stone house, dating back to medieval times, is south facing with lovely mountain views and nestled in the protected and unspoilt village of Bourg de St Rhemy. This ancient village has a tremendous history being the ultimate resting place and sanctuary before the pass over to Switzerland. Napoleon and his soldiers used this pass and stayed in the village in 1803. Until relatively recently, the Grand St Bernard pass was the main access between Northern Europe and Italy. It is also on the actual ancient 'Via Francigena' pathway which starts in Rome and ends in Canterbury.
