Pelican is a beautifully refurbished quirky yet contemporary 3-storey village town house offering comfortable accommodation for larger groups and families. The harbour, beach and rock pools are an easy few minutes walk away. About Emma Wood

I spent many childhood holidays in Staithes in the holiday home my family bought in the 1970s and fell in love with its unique charm then. Guy and I have visited as often as possible over the years and have been lucky enough to buy our own seaside home in the village. We live in Yorkshire so get to spend plenty of time in our favourite place with our three daughters, family and friends.

Emma Wood purchased this house in 2014

Why Emma Wood chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

Staithes is unique. It has all the traditional charm without the tourist hustle and bustle. Despite this unspoilt beauty, Staithes has plenty going on with a thriving diverse community of fisherman, artists, small businesses and restaurants.

What makes this house unique

Pelican is in the heart of the village and when we're there we really feel part of Staithes life. It's one of the few larger properties in old Staithes so plenty of room for our family and friends to stay. We love sipping a glass or two in our decked yard and wandering down to the bridge glass in hand to watch the sunset.

The house has every thing required for a relaxing and fun holiday. Well equipped and great location.

My family is scattered from Yorkshire, Sussex and London and we all came together for my 60th birthday party. Emma the owners left us gifts to celebrate the event. The house is perfect. A great location on the main street of the delightful Yorkshire Fishing Village of Staithes.

All family members commented that the house and location were amazing.

A must for all visitors is Dotty's Tea room and their cream tea!

We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful house , ages ranging from 60 years to 1 month old and the facilities were excellent for all ages ,especially with it having 2 bathrooms . The owner left everything we needed , we wanted for nothing .Spotlessly clean throughout , nice and warm on a night .

Spacious house, great location.

  • 5 of 5

Myself and four friends had a great long weekend at Pelican to celebrate my hen do. The house is in a fantastic location in the heart of Staithes. It's spacious, clean and really well equipped. We loved popping out the back to see the creek and all the seabirds. My only suggestion would be a few more cushions or blankets in the living room to make it a bit cosier. Overall wonderful stay and would recommend !

Wonderful location, fabulous property. Very well equipped and spacious. Attention to detail was brilliant. Lovely touches to welcome you, fresh flowers, bottle of wine, chocolates, fire all set. Could not fault this in any way. We will definitely be back.

Gorgeous and spacious bolthole within minutes of the sea

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful winter stay in the Pelican - it was really comfortable with some nice homely touches and great mid-century style furniture - all within walking distance of everything Staithes has to offer. Emma was easy to contact and made sure we had everything we needed, including a cot for our baby. We're planning to return in the summer months as this place is really special.
