About the property

On the edge of Melidoni, Chania, Crete, Greece - Unique location set amongst the Apokoronas hills with white mountains behind.

Dramatic location in a small Crete village wonderfully secluded from the hustle and bustle of home, switch off and soak up a most unique experience with dramatic mountain views to the rear along with costal views to the front.

The city of Chania is only a thirty minute drive away with its harbour front restaurants and unique atmosphere.

Breakfast and evening meals available at extra cost upon request.

With such breathtaking views as the background it is necessary that the Villa matches the beautiful vistas, and this house will not disappoint. It is fashioned out of solid stone, with its own swimming pool and garden. The traditional wood features will transport you back to an old Greece, while also allowing for the comfort of modern life; the old and the new come together in this house in a perfect symmetry.

The Villa for the start of the 2018 has now had installed Satelite TV's and Air conditioning to the bedrooms.

About Samantha Storer

I live in England with my Husband and Daughter who is aged nine years old and loves school.

My Husband and I have a passion for Crete, we have been visiting the island for the last twenty years, after lots of searching we have found the perfect spot to share with others.

We have made many freinds over the years of visting the island, now Crete for us feels like our second home, we spend as much of the school holidays here as we can and our daughter is picking up the language which is great.

Samantha Storer purchased this villa in 2015

Why Samantha Storer chose Apokoronos

The house is so much part of the real Crete, just away from the main Tourist areas but oh so far, you can't help but relax and switch off when you stay in Melidoni, locals going about local business with not a tourist in sight, mix with them and embrace the way to live, the diet, the social scene, the culture!

What makes this villa unique

Peace and quiet apart from birds, goat and sheep bells, with the most amazing views. Blue sky, chill out by the private swimming pool, gardens to match, fantastic views, night time sky is second to none with the Milky Way looking it's finest, shooting stars galore, soak it up it really is a special place.

Beautiful property with bags of character & amazing views.

  • 5 of 5

Villa Ariadne is a small piece of paradise tucked away in the hills but near enough to visit the local coastal resorts. The views were amazing whichever way you looked out from the villa. The mountains to the rear were particularly beautiful in the early morning light, whilst the view down to the coast from the front of the villa was equally impressive.

The villa itself was full of character and particularly well designed. It was a pleasure to stay here. We loved the building!! A fantastic base for a relaxing break. Not sure how old the property is but it felt new. Extremely clean and well maintained, as was the pool.

Stavros was really easy to deal with and gave us lots of tips on where to visit and where to get good local Cretan food.

We found the whole experience straightforward. Samantha and Jeremy Storer helped us through the booking process and suppled directions for finding the villa on the day of our arrival which was spot on.

The villa was cleaned thoroughly halfway through our stay along with a change of towels and bedding. Probably to a higher standard than most hotels I have stayed in previously.

Overall, a fabulous villa and I suspect that at some point we may return.

Phil Witcomb & Amanda Carter.

Lovely villa in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the villa. The pool, views and area were fabulous. The villa was clean and comfortable and as described. Beautifully constructed from natural stone and timber. It is also very well equipped. We had excellent communication with the owners and local caretaker..

Car hire is essential as you are well off the beaten track, with the nearest shops, tavernas a 10 minute drive. The roads are very twisty and the condition of Crete roads is not great. We had food prepared by the lady in the village on a couple of occasions, this was delicious and very convenient. The villa next door is close, pools separated by a low wall and shrubs, and although private to the eye, noise can be audible, although this did not bother us. We enjoyed the mountain walks, tranquility and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Vills in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

We had the good fortune of staying at this beautiful villa for 2 weeks and found it peaceful and relaxing.

The villa is very well equipped and finished to a very high standard.

A car is essential as it at the top of windy roads in the mountains but this should not put you off as the views are stunning.

I could not speak highly enough of this villa. Loved it!!

Great experience

  • 5 of 5

When looking for coziness combined with comfort, privacy and unforgettable views - Ariadne is THE location. Close enough to Chania with easy access to highway and sandy beaches offers chilling winds in evenings (we did not have to use AC at all!) great opportunities for hikers and runners (steep hills :-)) Private pool with clear water and exceptional, panoramic view. Dinners on spacious terrace under Milky Way and with a melody of sheep bells coming from the valleys.... sounds too romantic? That was what we were looking for and we found it all at Ariadne in Melidoni. Highly recommended! Iza and Sylweriusz

Splendid property in an outstanding environment

  • 5 of 5

The property is gorgeous...brand new but full of charm and authentic house. Many places, patios , terrace where you can stay in or around the villa , enjoying the landscape and the pool. Housekeeping perfect, very warm welcome and advices from Stavros. Many restaurants not far from Melidoni but you need a car.

Really nice stay in Ariadne strongly contributing to outstanding holidays in Crete

With the village of Melidoni on your door step, you can enjoy a true taste of Crete in a truly historical village. As well as this there is a dazzling long, golden, sandy beach just a twenty minute drive away in the wonderful town of Kalives. The beach is semi-organised, allowing for both relaxation and seclusion. There are a number of tavernas in Kalives, as well as an awe-inspiring church in the main square, the local small towns of Vrisses and Vamos are only fifteen minutes by car, both boasting an abundance of wonderful traditional tavernas allowing you to enjoy the true taste of Cretan cooking.

Allow Melidoni to be the backdrop to what will be a truly memorable and unique experience.

You can mingle with the locals, who are very welcoming, in the traditional 'Cafeneon' or coffee house, or if you wish to explore the village of Melidoni there is a wonderfully tranquil church, as well as a historical spring, where you can learn about the origins of the village.

The small town of Kalives is also just a short drive away, with a number of wonderful tavernas, either on the beach front or in the main town square, opposite an ornate Greek orthodox church.

The city of Chania is a spectacular melting pot of culture, history and architecture, with obvious Venetian and Turkish elements in the old cobbled, winding backstreets. There is nothing better than getting lost in the Old Town where there are a number of unique tavernas and shops. The harbour front is also very much worth a visit, especially to the old lighthouse, with wonderful views of Chania with a backdrop of dramatic mountain vistas . Chania has a taste of everything, which is sure to please everyone.
