Apartment/House near Almirida, Chania - Lovely, well equipped 1 bed property perfect for a couple. Quiet & Peaceful. Sea views. 5 Mins Drive To Almirida

Ilios House is a 2 storey apartment/house with an open plan living area and shower room on the ground floor. The shower room has been luxuriously refurbished and re-tiled for the 2016 season and now boasts a shower cabin with a fixed shower head to provide a "rain" shower + a hand held option. NB the cabin is an 800mm x 800mm quadrant shape. There is also a wash basin, wc and a big cabinet for all your toiletries. The living area with a well equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self catering holiday including a larder fridge and a separate freezer, full cooker with 4 ring hob, microwave and a washing machine. Although you will most likely want to spend most of your time outside relaxing on the terraces/balconies, the lounge sofa and chair have recently been reupholstered to provide comfy indoor seating. For entertainment there is a TV with satellite reception (NB this is not SKY although SKY news is available along with film and music channels), an ipod docking station, cd and dvd players, books and games and a wifi router for internet connection (access cards can be bought locally for 20 euro). The living area flows out to the ground floor terrace which is beautifully enclosed with a sturdy wooden trellis to give privacy. Furnished with a large marble topped table and several wicker chairs, this a lovely private spot for dining or relaxing. The bedroom is spacious and well furnished with a comfortable double bed, lots of hanging space and drawers; one of the wardrobes contains the safety deposit box. A large balcony with views across Souda Bay leads off the bedroom. The balcony is furnished with a small, round, teak table, 2 folding teak chairs and 2 sunbeds with another 2 sunbeds left downstairs for use by the pool. The house overlooks the shared pool (there are 8 similar houses in total with the majority only being used by the owners, their friends and family members). This is a peaceful location between the villages of Kokkino Chorio & Plaka where there are several tavernas and shops for your everyday needs. Payment can be made by sterling cheque, bacs transfer (sterling or euro) or debit or credit card via my company, Crete Escapes.

About the Owner

I am one of the directors of Crete Escapes; a villa rental agency for villas in the Chania area. Our villas all have their own private pools but my little house shares a pool with 7 other houses. The majority of those houses aren't rented commercially. I constantly update the facilities at Ilios House as I want all of my guests to have a really super, comfortable stay there. The house may only sleep 2 but there is enough crockery and cutlery to keep a family of 6 happy! In 2015 I re-furbished the sofa and chair in the lounge and gave the bedroom a makeover. For 2016 I have completely re-furbished the shower room to provide an extremely luxurious space. The kitchen worktop + sink and tap have been replaced and a new staircase has been fitted too!

I was one of the first foreign buyers in this part of Crete. I was absolutely wowed by the scenery and the sea views. There are outstanding views across Souda Bay from the house and just around the corner you have stunning views of The White Mountains. In addition to that we have the sandy beach at Almirida so close by and lots of "practical" facilities for home owners in nearby Kalives and Chania. The local people are so friendly and the quality of the food in most of the tavernas is outstanding and usually excellent value for money.

Coast/Beach:

The lovely sandy beach of Almirida is only 5 minutes drive from the house. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire. There are tavernas lining the sea front, a couple of small supermarkets, a butchers, bakery, newsagents, pharmacy, an ATM, wine shop and the lovely "Pear Tree" shop which sells good fresh produce. Between the house and Almirida is the village of Plaka with an excellent shop and several tavernas. There is also a good shop and tavernas in Kokkino Chorio.

Travel:

The nearest airport is at Chania. Nowadays there are lots of flights to Chania from all over Europe with Ryanair and Easyjet flying there several times a week. Check out this page for detailed information on getting to Crete - http://www.crete-escapes.com/travel-information. The house is approximately 40 minutes drive from Chania airport. If you fly to Heraklion the drive is between 1 hour and 40 mins and 2 hours depending on the time of day.

Distances:

Nearest village is Kokkino Chorio, a 15 minute walk. Plaka is a 25 minute walk and Almirida is a 5 minute drive. There are lots of other villages to explore in the area, all within a half hour drive. The beautiful town of Chania with its Venetian harbour is a 30 minute drive. Rethymnon, another town with a Venetian harbour is 40 minutes drive. Lake Kournas, around 30 minutes drive. The palace of Knossos is near Heraklion, & around a 2 hour drive.

A damage deposit of £250 will need to be ring fenced on a credit card the day before the rental starts.

Changeover Day:
The change-over day is flexible subject to bookings already taken either side. On your arrival day the house will be available from 4pm and on departure we ask you to leave by 10am unless you have spoken to & agreed another time with the property manager.

We have made lots of friends over the years and I started my business as a direct result of buying my house in Crete. Because of that, we are often busy meeting up with people but there is nothing more enjoyable than a long day lazing around the house then going for a dip in the sea when most people are leaving the beach before returning to the house for a G and T before strolling to Plaka for dinner.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The house is registered for holiday rentals with The Greek Tourist Authorities - MHTE number = 1042K123K2735901. All local taxes and end of let cleaning are included in the price. Outside: The outside spaces at Ilios House are integral to the interior accommodation, usually from the beginning of May to the end of September. The 1st floor balcony is furnished with sun loungers (2) & a small table & chairs. This is a great place to sit and watch the sun go down with a pre dinner drink. The ground floor terrace has a large dining table & chairs (to seat 4 easily). 2 more sun loungers are left outside for you to use by the pool. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All house linen + beach/pool towels is supplied and this is changed weekly. End of let cleaning is included in the cost but we appreciate you leaving the house as you found it. Cleaning materials are supplied.
