Midway between the market town of Canelli and the village of Bubbio, this beautiful 18th Century Farmhouse is set in an elevated position amongst the beautiful hills of the Langhe and Monferrato, with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It is at the centre of the most widely acclaimed wine and food region of Italy. The garden includes a private, south-facing swimming pool (12m x 6m) located in an elevated, sunny position. The house has a covered portico for outdoor dining and a barbecue.

About the Owner

I live with my husband , son and our 2 dogs in England. We fell in love with Italy on our honeymoon and have spend many a holiday exploring and enjoying this wonderful country. But we lost our hearts in Piedmont when we met the most wonderfully piemontese people and ate there wonderful food whilst drinking there gorgeous wine either sparkling or my favourite the Barbarolo red. Piedmont is the unspoiled diamond of Italy green and unspoiled with the mountains on one side and the Italian Riviera on the other.

Beautiful villa in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Casa Dolcetto and are already planning a return trip for next year.

The house is beautiful and full of character, the views are stunning, and the grounds were the perfect setting for a fabulously relaxing holiday.

Gabrielle was really helpful in the lead up to our trip, and Alberto was very friendly on our arrival.

I would whole-heartedly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful break. Shops or restaurants are a short drive away so it's not for anyone looking for a lively strip of bar and restaurants within walking distance, but for our purposes it was perfect.

Unknown surprise

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week in this lovely typical italian house in the well known wine region Piemonte. The house is comfortable, clean en form every room you have and a lovely sight. the pool is perfect. We could chose for different places to sit in the lovely gardens with a view on the grapes. The fireplace was brilliant en nice sitting in the evenings. We made nice motortrips to Monaco ands Genua. The small villages in the area are picturesque. A well spent holiday at a lovely place.

On a même pu mettre un peu de musique car la maison est éloignée des autres.

From the Owner

We fell in love with Casa Dolcettto because of its location, beautiful views. The house is romantically set against the hill and offers plenty of space for old and young with beautiful stone curved ceilings in the kitchen, dining and sitting room. In winter it has the option of open fireplaces (in and outside) and underfloor heating through the whole house making it a perfect property for the whole year round. It is perfect for getting to the skiing slopes or spend a day at the beach whilst enjoying the delicious food and wine on offer.

Nowhere in Italy compares with Piedmont for travellers looking for a combination of fine wines, gastronomy and beautiful countryside. The area to explore is just an hour's drive down the autostrada from Turin. From Bra, through Alba then Asti, and up to the Monferrato region takes you through a panoply of vineyards producing Italy's greatest red wines - Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera - and whites, from Asti Spumante, Moscato and the little-known Arneis. You can arrange for tours of the cantinas of really famous producers or the more local ones. There is the same choice when it comes to sampling the rich gourmet heritage of Piemont cuisine - remember this is the white-truffle capital of the world.

Furthermore Piemont's beautiful countryside offers you plenty to explore by bike or on foot stopping of for cheap food in one of the many small villages.

The coast and the Italian Rivera is a mere 45 mintues drive away and if further takes your fancy Monaco is 2½ drive away, just in time for lunch.

Either fly to Turin or Genoa which by car is 1 hour 15 min drive or Milan which is a 1.30 hour drive. Please note that due to the rural location of the property a car is recommended.

The town of Bubbio and Canelli (10 minutes drive) have markets on Tuesday and Friday and a variety of shops and restaurants and not to forget wine tasting places. canelli one of the most beautiful towns in Piedmont, encirlced by vineyards that produce the famous Asti Spumante and the wonderfully fruity Moscato dessert wine. In Canelli, explore an elaborate wine cellar known as an “underground cathedral. Furthermore the roman town of Aqua Terme, famous for its hot sulphur springs and Alba the place were Nutella is made, are worth a visit.

Spend time at a hazelnut farm and take a guided tour of the grove. Discover the regal city of Turin with a local guide. Your true taste of Northern Italy awaits!

Piedmont has many beautiful villages and castles and one of those castles worth visiting is The Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi on the outerskirts of Turin is definitely worth a visit either for a summer concert or to explore the museum. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this extravagant building is designed with a towering center with two immense wings that encircle an intricately manicured courtyard. The central reception room of the palace is its crowned jewel - with a 30-foot domed ceiling adorned with elaborate frescos and surrounded by grand windows. In 1919, this estate opened the Museum of Furniture which houses some of the estate’s original furnishings and masterpieces of cabinet making from the region and the House of Savoy.

The Palio de D'Asti, the oldest and most famous bare horse races which take place in September is definetely worth seeing.

Both Torino and Milan have outlet villages if shopping is what you fancy doing for a day. The old Fiat factory is now a shopping centre and where you can also visit the car test course on top of the roof as used in the Italian Job with amazing views of the Alps.
