Causeway Barn is one of ten Northumbrian stone and slate barn conversions that form Heatherytops Farm, a charming converted Victorian farm Steading surrounded by tranquil fields.

With spacious and beautifully styled interiors characterised by large arched windows and outside spaces that benefit from an East/West orientation, this Barn will appeal to a family party, or equally to 2 couples or singles holidaying together.

Downstairs the hallway has a WC room off and wide staircase leading up to the bedrooms. The kitchen/diner is very large with a fully integrated fitted kitchen with porcelain tiled floor and solid oak worktops. Facilities include full length fridge 60%/ freezer 40%, fan oven with eye level grill and extractor over, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, filter coffee machine, iron and ironing board.The solid oak dining table has 4 comfortable dining chairs. Arched French doors lead onto the garden terrace with outdoor dining table and chairs.

The sitting room is very comfortable with a large curved designer sofa and two arm swivel armchairs. Large flat screen TV, DVD player and selection of DVDs, Ipod docking station, local interest leaflets, books and games.

Bedroom 1 has a king size pocket sprung bed with a fabulous free standing bath area and en suite shower room.

Bedroom 2 the bed maybe twin or super-king size and this room is serviced by a family bathroom featuring a full size bath and walk in shower.

Complimentary Cole and Lewis hand wash in both bathrooms , heated chrome towel rails and marble floor tiles. Both bedrooms have radio alarm clocks, hair dryers and high quality anti allergenic linen and duvets/pillows. Bed linen is professionally laundered.

To the rear of the Barn is a beautiful garden that enjoys sunshine from before noon to evening in summer and is wonderfully sheltered by the larger courtyard formation.

To the front of Causeway Barn is a private access road that was built originally by the Romans and is known as, “The Causeway,” hence the name of the Barn. Here there is plenty of car parking and also a lockable bike store.

Outside the Barn swallows dart in the sky above and deer, foxes and buzzards form part of an abundance of wildlife that are often seen. In spring and summer guests can enjoy the cows grazing peacefully with their calves in the field beyond the Causeway whilst the sun rises over the sea beyond, one mile away. Here, long stretches of deserted sandy beach and the Northumberland Coast and Castle Cycle Route stretch southwards past Goswick Golf Course through the Lindisfarne Nature Reserve to Holy Island- an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Causeway Barn is located less than one mile of the A1 north/south main road and provides excellent access to all the coast and castles of Northumberland, the Scottish Borders as well as Edinburgh, Scotland’s Capital city.

Included in the rental rate are:

Fresh flowers on arrival, central heating, electricity, unlimited Wifi, professionally laundered bed linen, towels and bath mats. Starter pack of dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bin liners, dish clothes, tea towels, scourers and various cleaning products. Causeway Barn is a non smoking premises and a pet free zone. Children of age 5 years and over are welcome to stay when accompanied/supervised by adult(s).

About Rosalind Dryden

I personally look after and the manage Causeway Barn to a high standard to ensure the best experience for our guests. We are proud to have achieved a Gold Award for exceptional quality and service from Visit England.

We live one mile from the Barn so are near enough to be on hand if required during your stay. We are open, friendly people and nothing is too much trouble for us. We are happy to give local knowledge on Northumberland as we know and love our beautiful county!

Why Rosalind Dryden chose Northumberland Coast

The location is just perfect for holidays. The Farm is not far from the A1 but beautifully quiet, surrounded by fields home to cows and calves in Summer. Direct access south to Holy Island (10 mins) Bamburgh (15 mins) and all the other delights the Northumberland Coast and inland offers. The Barn is also well located to explore west into the Scottish Borders, (the market town of Kelso with Floors Castle is 20 minute drive) and north to Scotland's capital city Edinburgh (60 minute drive). There are views east towards the sea- Cocklawburn Beach and Cheswick Sands, (part of the Lindisfarne Nature Reserve) are 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk.

The walled town of Berwick upon Tweed is also a 5 minute drive north offering an excellent selection of supermarkets, shops bars, pubs and restaurants.

What makes this barn unique

The property is located a private residents only farm road off the A1167 so it is beautifully quiet and safe. We have a bike store outside the front of the property so it is perfect for children and adults alike. There are lots of walks near the Barn- to the Beach, over the fields or into Berwick upon Tweed. There are two cafes within walking distance open 7 days a week for breakfasts, lunches, coffees and cake- the one at Borewell Farm also has children's play frame, swings and an art barn. At the end of the farm drive is also an outdoor shop selling lots of items for holiday makers.

immaculate, warm and welcoming...just what the doctor ordered.

Arrived and welcomed with fresh flowers, thoughtful provisions and very tasteful furnishings throughout.

Wonderful temporary home from home, a joy to come back to every evening after savouring the delights of Berwick upon Tweed and surrounding area. Owner very helpful and was there within 5 minutes to help us when technology had us stumped.

Every amenity and appliance made living in the cottage a joy. Will definitely recommend Causeway Barn to friends and family.

Superbly equipped. Very comfortable. Excellent!

The Causeway Barn is very well located for visiting interesting places eg Alnwick Castle and especially the gardens, Lindisfarne, Floors Castle, Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle, St Abbs (little fishing village), and Craigside where Armstrong was the first person to generate hydro electricity.. We could have easily visited Edinburgh and Hadrian's wall, had time allowed. My NZ relatives and I were absolutely delighted with our stay.

Distances:

Scremerston Village is 800 yards. Berwick upon Tweed an Elizabethan walled town (the most northerly town in England) is 1.5 miles from the Barn.

Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a 10 minute drive.

Further Details:

Berwick upon Tweed has a range of supermarkets, petrol stations, banks, doctors, independent retailers, pubs and restaurants. Also a leisure centre with large pool with wave machine. Wonderful walk around the Elizabethan walls with views down the coast to Holy Island.
