Quiet Country Farmhouse With Spectacular Views!

Updated: 24-Jun-2016
Farmhouse in Cuzorn, near Chateau de Bonaguil, Lot et Garonne, Aquitaine / Dordogne, France - 5 Minutes To Nearest Shop/restaurant, Beautiful Hilltop Villages With Markets To Visit Nearby

Domaine des Chaleureux is a charming stone farmhouse with 3 bedrooms set in a secluded valley near the lovely village of Cuzorn. Situated in the country with 4 acres of land and stunning views, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind yet is located on the border of the Dordogne, Lot and Lot-et-Garonne regions, with all the best that these have to offer. As for the house itself, this is not a tiny gîte where you have to side step around the bed. It is a proper home from home with lots of space to spread out and have fun. There is plenty of outdoor space to play boules and there is an above ground plunge pool to cool off in when it gets too hot. You will also find it well stocked with herbs/spices/oil/salt/pepper/etc, all the basics so that it will not cost an arm and a leg to stock up when you first arrive. Enjoy the lovely surroundings come summer or winter. Either cosy up to one of two log burning stoves with a good book in the cooler months or, in the summer, lay back in the sun enjoying the views with a glass of something lovely!

Quiet paradise

  • 5 of 5

We went for the second time to the "Chaleureux" with my husband and our four daughters. It's very save for our babies and the two oldest girls like to play in the swimming pool. For us, it's perfectly quiet. There are a lot of places to visit around... Perfect holiday for us ! THanks a lot

Beautiful Farmhouse and Location

  • 5 of 5

Great location for peace and quiet and fabulous views to take in. Lots of space in the house and grounds for everyone to relax.

Wonderful spacious house, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and organised. Fresh and clean bathrooms and linen, well stocked kitchen and nice touches such as welcome basket and kitchen basics really appreciated.

Plunge pool was just right, enough to cool down in and have some fun before playing more ping pong, badminton and boules all supplied by the owners.

Lots of good quality garden furniture to have meals outside or just watch the sun rise or set over the valley.

Nice to stay somewhere without lots of "dos and don't" to read on arrival! Owners made the whole booking and stay easy and simple.

Lots to do in the area using the house as a base or just stay put and enjoy everything the house has to offer.

Excellent location and a lovely property.

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here with my family for a couple of weeks and it was the perfect place for exploring this beautiful part of France. The property was clean and well maintained, with plenty to do for kids (pool, table tennis etc) if you just wanted to relax at home. However, it is close enough for plenty of day trips to explore the region with it's many Chateaux, medieval towns and prehistoric cave art.

We had a great time.

Gorgeous rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

Right from the time we booked the cottage, we felt looked after. The cottage was beautiful, completely private and extremely well equipped. Although it was only my husband and I staying, we felt that it would easily accommodate a large family or several couples. The living room had two very comfortable sofas and a great widescreen TV with British channels. The bedroom had beautiful old beams in the ceiling and high-quality furniture and the bed was large and comfortable. Outside, behind the adjacent barn, was an above-ground plunge pool/swimming pool which was about 18 degrees but it was still a bit too cold for us! In the barn there was a table tennis table and dartboard, and inside were croquet mallets and loads of DVDs and books to keep you entertained. There was a good information pack and loads of leaflets about things to do in the local area. The cottage is in an excellent location for exploring the Dordogne and Lot without being amongst the crowds of tourists who are staying in the Dordogne itself. It is right in the heart of Bastide country - lovely old mediaeval villages with covered market places, many of which had regular produce markets or antiques fairs while we were there.

Tranquility in Rural France!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at Domaine des Chaleureux in torrential rain, this however did not dampen our spirits when we saw the accommodation! The Farmhouse is very spacious and comfortably and tastefully furnished. The view from the garden is absolutely breathtaking and there are plenty of activities in the house and barn to keep adults and children occupied. The property is totally private, very quiet and peaceful, the perfect place to escape modern life! The children absolutely loved riding the bikes up and down the long private driveway and would quite often come back saying that they'd spotted a deer or two eating the fallen apples from the tree in the garden! The Farmhouse boasts a great table tennis table, dart, bikes and a lovely clean plunge pool. There are plenty of things to see and do in the area too, including some fabulous French villages, swimming lakes, treetop activity centres and kayaking, plus some great restaurants, our favourite being Le Caillau in Vire sir Lot. The owners are extremely helpful and very easy to communicate with, they could not have done any more to make our stay an unforgettable holiday! Thank you!

From the Owner

After many trips to France, and multiple viewings, the area and this house was just perfect! A really peaceful escape from it all and yet in an area with loads to do both energetic activities and things to go see. We love canoeing, cycling and now the treetop walks nearby but we also love visiting castles, cute villages with markets and eating lovely French food.........this has it all! Not to mention plenty of nearby vineyards too!
